Beautiful at night!?!

The lighting is godawful. Too bright in so many place. Different bulbs in the same areas giving off different hues. It's like they don't know basic lighting. UNI does. How tough is this for the world's largest entertainment company? Or is it that they just don't give a d@mn? Is the park nicer at night? That's like being at a pickup bar with low lighting. Everything looks better because the flaws are obscured.

I have to admit, I hadn't thought of that. I have seen Uni lit up at night and my god, that's awesome. Especially that crooked lighthouse. I still say that WDW is pretty at night, but then I haven't seen it when it was better lit. I bow to your greater knowledge.

Well Ollie, fine mess you've gotten us into this time.....

I have no problem with that point. I agree with it emphatically.

But to just be dismissive and suggest that everyone who goes to Food & Wine or that SW cantina bar is somehow a Drunk? That's pretty much a broad brush.

I have NEVER suggested that ALL festival goers were drunks, I've had others NOT YOU put words in my mouth to that effect though.

What I HAVE done is that I've pointed out that there is a great deal of over serving at the festivals and i've had my shoes puked on more than once so I'm a bit less forgiving about the reliance Disney seems to have on alcohol sales to boost F&B profits.

What I'd like to see is more unique food and dessert offerings at all of the festivals and at a lower price point, Example at a local fair - there was a booth selling deep fried chocolate covered bacon - but it was 2 bucks well below the typical prices at WDW and it was worth the 2 bucks just to give it a try It WAS good but if it had been 8.95 I never would have tried it.

If someone tells me that Disney's F&B people cannot put together SW (or F&G)) food offerings at a 'what the heck' price with a reasonable profit for WDW I'd suggest they go find some new executive chefs, One's with you know 'Imagination'

Serve alcohol of course, What I'm not thrilled with is public intoxication there is nothing less fun than being around people who have had a few too many I'm not talking about a pleasant buzz where everybody is happy and relaxed.

I'm talking slurred speech and inablility to walk properly and all the other bad juju that goes with that state. That's what I don't want to be around.

YOu think those of us that enjoy our alcohol want to deal with those idiots too? Oh hell no!

As long as they don't start selling bottle beer at every booth it is a welcome addition in the right places...

Any time you serve alcohol you run the risk that someone has 1 too many. I don't think that means the place needs to just be dry. Nobody is saying build a nightclub or offer dollar shots to encourage drinking. This isn't Vegas...I miss Vegas:( Keep the prices relatively high to encourage casual consumption and kick people out if they have too much to drink. Easy solution.
I brought it up this time as an example of as a LAZY way to increase profits on SWW instead of having more themed and possibly chargeable entertainment but which carries a risk of failing instead of the 'sure thing' of alcohol sales.

I'm sick of WDW's go to method of upselling at festivals which is 'Sell More Alcohol and as much of it as possible'. I have no problems with alcohol sales I'd like to see more unique items and foods things that are UNIQUE to a festival, I can get a drink anywhere.
It's not just being lazy. SWW has a demographic that is more adult than the typical DHS days. They are providing what people want with a temporary venue.

I'm not talking about 'one too many' I'm talking about ones who passed one too many 6 beers ago.

What SW fans want is interaction with SW characters and actors, DW just got back from the SW Festival in Anaheim if SWW weekends had HALF the panels they did out there the fans would be over the moon, Heck they would PAY to attend those sessions.

But true to WDW every year the SW related elements have been cut back. Hence my comments on WDW;s laziness

That may be true about the panels, but isn't really the point. People want the drinks too or they would open the place and it would be empty with no sales.

Of course they do, I want a nice glass of wine with lunch as well, My point is they are emphasizing F&B sales over the Star Wars experience SWW once was.

If you had a 'prop room' with real SW props the line would make Anne and Elsa's line look like a 5 minute walk on and you could probably charge 5 bucks a head.

Yeah, but look at it this way. If a guy had too much to drink and he downed a bunch of deep fried chocolate bacon, that would make a real bad mess on your shoes when he puked.

As a local, we go to both the F&B and F&G "festivals" every year, and I'm having a hard time remembering when we actually bought something at one of the kisoks. I seem to recall it being a Belgian waffle (bringing back memories of NY World's Fair), but it could have been the snails at France. But at the prices they charge, and the size of the product supplied, we just cannot justify the purchase. I would eat (and drink) a whole lot more if the prices matched the quantity of product supplied; I guess some analyst has crunched the numbers and calculated the optimum price point, but that point fails to factor in the enjoyment (and repeat visits) that accompany a more reasonable price.

^^^^ THIS ^^^^ I'm not going to take a flyer on something priced at 9.95 but I might if it's under 5 bucks and definitely at 2-3 bucks,

They could even serve a 'sampler' size portion for those unsure or on a diet who might want to TRY something but don't need or want the calories. (also works for kiddies trying to get them to TRY new things) they even could be 'snacks' on the DDP - (In the distance torches are lighted and the cry of Burn the Heretic goes up...)

I've said this before, but I've done F&W multiple times, usually me with one other person. We basically start from opening until Illuminations, and we hit as many booths as we can, sharing a food or beverage from each one so that we don't get full from one booth and we get to taste as much as possible. We tallied it up one day, and it came out to be that we spent something like $73 a person. Now, in my opinion, $73 is not that bad considering we both ate and drank ALL day (while staying comfortably full and buzzed). In fact, I'd almost say it's pretty affordable considering it is in WDW. Yes, it's not cheap. But is anything cheap in WDW?

I'm fairly certain some (not all, but definitely some) of the snacks at both festivals are already DDP eligible? As a snack point?

It was my impression that all of the offerings were supposed to be samplers. And considering the size of the portions, that's what they are. For everything but price.

So about $146 per day for food and drink for the two of you. Considering we typically spend about $50 per day for lunch at WDW, at sit-down locations and including adult beverage, I wouldn't necessarily consider that "pretty affordable". However, that's just opinion, and YMMV.
