A Spirited Perfect Ten

If the state is ripping Disney off to get the additional funds then they are ripping themselves off. The additional, "missing" $800 million was not all Disney money. Only about $344 million was paid by Disney. The remaining $456 million came from the state-owned Shanghai Shendi Group.
Friendly reminder: the $800 million and the graft issue mustn't be conflated to be the same problem. Graft has likely been occurring at the SDL worksite well before the "expansion" funds were announced.

Not trying to stir up trouble (in case this turns into something sensitive), but I'll ask this here because I figure it's the place with the best chance for getting an answer:

Anyone have any idea why Card Walker on Twitter deleted all of his past tweets today? The account is still active. I always enjoyed his take on Disney topics.

Just wondering if there is a story there!

Moving on from drama queens....

Looks like I was 100% wrong about Star Wars and D23. No one is more happy than me about being wrong there....

To be clear, are you suggesting that there will be WDW specific Star Wars stuff announced? Or just that something Star Wars will be announced (which could be limited to just Disneyland, as has been previously been suggested by some)?

Let's just say Card is a pen name for someone who works for Disney and happens to run a popular Disney history blog.

I've heard definetly Disneyland and a very strong indication that there will be some sort of announcement for WDW.

I have indications to be more optimistic. Of course, it all depends on what happens at the Board Meeting this week.

Yep. I went looking, and her name is actually Fadra Nally. Somebody here has referenced her in the past, and while I don't mean to steal their thunder, a quick glance at Youtube shows Fadra has posted videos from the invitation only 2015 Disney Social Moms Event back in May.

Right now, she has 87 views. Yes - just eighty-seven.

I can start a thread here on poop (no, not the new desserts, I'm talking real crap!) and get that many views ... in 10 minutes. 20 if it's a slow day!

I would really appreciate it if they seriously considered closing DHS for 6-8 months to speed up construction, but who am I kidding?

I'm not sure how anyone who remotely likes movies could dislike Inside Out.

I think it's quite possibly Pixar's best. More for adults than kids though.

That's what I've heard from many people (friends, industry folks, animators etc) ... I think the pushback is from people who actually want a dumber movie, a movie that their kids don't need to think about, let alone themselves.

I think we had that film a few years ago ... it was called Cars 2. And people bitched about that.

I can't wait to see it. I hope to be able to tomorrow night.

That's just...does she know anything about tags and keywording? Just having Disney in your tags/keywords should be enough for 100+ views on most mediums, especially over the course of a month. Thanks for not linking her page and artificially driving up her views, by the way. The last time that happened with the private 5k/running thing her views increased by nearly 10x if I remember right (from like 20 to over 200), just from being linked in a Spirited thread within a day or two. If she actually cared about the analytics, she would know where those views came from and would be posting her stuff here (at least having a link in a sig)! How much do they spend on those events, again?

Can I hit Cupcake up for freebies based on those hits she got from my thread?

I am not a big movie goer.....but if this is what a blockbuster looks like.....I have no hope.

I was trying to be nice.....I am on a family forum.

I liked it. A lot. Certainly far, far more than either Avengers or Tomorrowland. No, it was not great film making. Not that it was ever supposed to be. It was a fun popcorn flick. It would seem that audiences from Ohio to California, China to the UK feel the same.

But everyone's tastes are different.

"Inside Out" had an incredible opening weekend with $91 million domestic, making it Pixar's second highest debut behind "Toy Story 3". Particularly noteworthy is IO made that money despite selling fewer 3D tickets (28 percent versus JW's 48 percent last weekend).

It's been a great summer/great year for the studios (just as last year was a bit off). It likely will only get better. JW and Inside Out both are the type of films that look to have significant legs. ... And I actually think that Ant Man will be a bigger hit than some think (no, not Guardians money!)

Just saw Inside Out and loved it (as did the entire family). It is funny but after watching it, you would think that it was specifically made to be incorporated into a future theme park ride aside from being an animated movie. The different emotions, coupled with a kids view of how that part of the brain functions, along with the different islands (family, honesty, etc.), you could practically role that into the Imagination Pavilion. Sorry to those devoted to what was old Epcot but you best get ready. This IP seems destined to be placed somewhere.

So long as it's placed in a proper place and given a proper budget, then I'll sing its praises. ... If it gets the Frozen at EPCOT treatment, then it will get a Spirited rebuke!

Phantom Menace sucked. Jurassic World was at least twice as bad. At least Phantom Meanace didn't just tell the same story over again like Jurrasic whatever.

Are you being paid to come onto a Disney forum and tell the world how much you hate Jurassic World? I can't fathom why anyone would make so many posts about a movie they dislike so much. Some people liked the film, get over it.

Haven't seen Tomorrowland, but Jurassic World sucked hard and long. It's a stupid movie with a stupid, repetive plot that was vaguely redeemed by the blinking indominatosaurusstu(sp?) eye behind the truck/wall/door/fake amber hunk. If Tomorrowland is worse I'm glad I missed it because JW was terrible.

OK, we get it!!!

Why do some people (not specifically you!) feel the need to have 134 posts on a thread saying the exact same thing?

I saw this posted on another thread. Apparently James Horner (Avatar soundtrack and many others) has died as a result of a plane crash.
