wow, great threads this week and this one included. To kind of sum up this doom and gloom arguement(or the "reality" arguement):
The Parks that are actually getting the attention they deserve are the one's that have a more fickle crowd. WDW has been showing a profit even though they have done nothing major since the 90's, so why bother fixing it.
Pixar was the Nemo who swallowed the disney whale. A great deal for Pixar, but are they now going to rest on their laurels and succomb to doing sequals instead of usuing the originality that made them great.
Dreamworks was the only competition for the animated dollar. It's never good to have a monopoly, you need competition to keep you striving for a better product(hopefully Disney will not try and control animation).
the Eisner reign started out great but eventually became stagnant because of the need for the easy profit. The real story here is a microcosm of the mass marketing mentality of the last 25-30 years.
When the all mighty profit is tantimount over quality ,creativity is going to suffer. Of course a CEO has to be held accountable to it's shareholders but more importantly they have to be held accountable to the people who buy their product. There is a simbiotic relationship in that we should expect we are going to getting a good product if we keep spending money on it. Greed is not good.
I hope the new sherriff understands that we should not except anything less than true Disney magic at it's best.
oh and love the SCUBA guy, just a little more than the new paint on UoE.
