A Flap in the Right Direction

wow, great threads this week and this one included. To kind of sum up this doom and gloom arguement(or the "reality" arguement):

The Parks that are actually getting the attention they deserve are the one's that have a more fickle crowd. WDW has been showing a profit even though they have done nothing major since the 90's, so why bother fixing it.

Pixar was the Nemo who swallowed the disney whale. A great deal for Pixar, but are they now going to rest on their laurels and succomb to doing sequals instead of usuing the originality that made them great.

Dreamworks was the only competition for the animated dollar. It's never good to have a monopoly, you need competition to keep you striving for a better product(hopefully Disney will not try and control animation).

the Eisner reign started out great but eventually became stagnant because of the need for the easy profit. The real story here is a microcosm of the mass marketing mentality of the last 25-30 years.
When the all mighty profit is tantimount over quality ,creativity is going to suffer. Of course a CEO has to be held accountable to it's shareholders but more importantly they have to be held accountable to the people who buy their product. There is a simbiotic relationship in that we should expect we are going to getting a good product if we keep spending money on it. Greed is not good.

I hope the new sherriff understands that we should not except anything less than true Disney magic at it's best.

oh and love the SCUBA guy, just a little more than the new paint on UoE.

Ah but the new UoE paint is so much more than paint. It's the beginning of the "back to the future" revitilazation of Future World IMO.

If the D&G argument is "reality", please explain DCA's extensive refurb. It is way beyond just the bare minimum to create a decent profit. Way beyond. And last I checked it will have as much traditional Disney content as Pixar content. That pesky DCA project just won't leave the doom and gloomers alone. Will it?

Future.

But WDI obviously needs to work on this project before they can get to WDW! I mean DCA is only in phase one, and HKDL hasn't even broken ground. WDI will obviously be too busy to get to WDW.

Though the artwork isn't detailed, it does appear these new "lands" have been developed to a fairly extensive degree. There is also not much completely cutting edge here. I equate these projects to about 3 or 4 times what Pixar Place is once the MI coaster is in. Hardly on the scale of the DCA project. So, I don't think it is a big deal for WDW's future growth. Afterall, right now the next big thing at WDW is probably a LM clone and possibly a FL makeover. Doesn't seem overwhelming to me.

Yea, a trackless ride and the biggest coaster Disney has ever built aren't cutting edge?

Maybe I should just going around asking to see their sheriffs badge. Ill start with the lady sheriffs.
Ah, yes. Since Lady Sherriffs now wear their badges UNDER their shirt. Good call.

Keeping up with this thread has left me with a few quesitons that need to be answered...

Flap? Why flap? Why not tip 'o the hat? Nod? Lean? Shuffle?

The imagery in the title has left me picturing a large, mascot-sized bird flapping a single wing to the side of 'good' vs evil...

Take the "30" number with a grain of salt. They are counting every little feature in that number. By the "30" standard, the "party line" on MSUSA should be counted as an attraction IMO. I'm not dissing this new plan but I just think it is not like a 2nd gate or anything. The trackless system is not new. The coaster is a coaster. It's not like an Indiana Jones ride that was Imagineered from scratch or the new Carsland at DCA. They are building on known systems for the most part it appears.

I don't disagree with him in principle for the most part. His manner of delivering that message is entirely misdirectd on these boards and I believe is essentially counter-productive. In other words, the guys an _________. IMO.

You say new things, new rides, new refurbs and full steam ahead with the sheriff.

He says nothing new now, and realistically in a few years.

I don't get it.
