Well the original thread had me hopeful that there was something positive going on, but after reading through it all it seems that perhaps nothing has changed and we are still in the same place we have been for a while. It's to bad I was hoping things were going to start to turn around for WDW and get some new great attractions but it seems we are left with the same uncertainty we have been with for a while now.:brick:

Obviously I am the exception to the rule and proud to be so. Conventional "wisdom" rarely is. Changes are on the way.

Everything mentioned is certainly on a list, and some rumors mentioned are closer to fruition than others (i.e. the WoL concept is farther from happening than TLM, Star Tours 2.0, MI, etc) ... I don't think any of these projects will be green-lit tomorrow but I think that we are definetly talking sooner rather than later (IMO, of course).

Now, some of the other things that the OP mentioned I am not sure are true, but we will find out on this Tuesday when the quarterly report comes in. Most sources are saying that even with the heavy discounts Disney is still down about 4% in attendance figures from the year before (which sounds bad, but Universal is predicted to be down anywhere from 20-30%, depending on who you talk to) and Disney's hotel revenue may be down as much as 27% - due to the 4/3 promotion.

So, I think everyone needs a nice tall glass of perspective. These changes will come, but this is one of the worst economic times in decades, so trust that Disney is using the money wisely and is weathering the storm until massive changes will be seen. Frankly, if they green-light TLM or MI in addition to the SM upgrade and Star Tours 2.0, which is already being re-recorded, that would be amazing given the times.

They are trying to destroy the storm with the missile. Doesn't really make sense.

"seeding" the outer wall of hurricans with silver iodine was an idea that was trialed in the late 60's (I think).

It was supposed to cause ice to form in the in storm clouds. The required heat of formation of the ice would "suck" energy out of the storm system and cause it to weaken.

As far as I know, it never really worked.

Cloud seeding to create rain is still in use. They do use missles (among other devices) to get the chemicals into the clouds.

The most important thing in the Original Post was the timing.
Projects are said to be moving forward as normal and are not being put on hold due to a recession.

Normal project progression will involve stages of proposals, planning, changes, funding, etc. as they go forward.

IMHO

Do you know what the WoL project is? Or even it's scope or basic concept? That is what we are all wondering.

Well, if they changed the film where you fly over natural wonders of the world and change the name to "Soarin over the world" then it would fit perfectly.

Yessir, just a matter of time I think. Imagine "Planet Earth" type footage projected on that screen!

An economist was talking about video game sales and he went offtopic for a second and even mentioned how attendance is down 17% for the first part of the year. I can provide a link to the video where he states this.

I do not :(, but I am about 95% sure of the following: (A) its only been talked about in blue sky stages and is far, far down even the most optimistic of lists, (B) its scope is far greater than $30M, and (C) its not a weather pavillion.

On the one hand, I hope that I will eat my words and more concrete plans will be put in place tomorrow, but on the other hand, I am happy that attractions such as TLM, Star Tours, Monsters Inc, and even certain projects in AK are above it - I think those are more important.
