5th Park Opening in Time for WDW's 50th (Jim Hill)

There is no fifth (full) park in any stage of active development.
All capital expenditure for the rest if the decade will be on maintaining and expanding the existing offerings.

Any fifth park talk is pure fanboy fantasy.

Yes, I live in California. No, I am not in any way associated with the motion picture industry, or anything media related, nor do I care to be. Last movie I saw in a theater was Hairspray in '07, and that was the first time I'd been to the movies in years and years.

I don't acknowledge or invest any time or energy in current movies, except for maybe the latest animation Disney thing that gets a meet n' greet or something in the parks. Most movies out of Hollywood now are junk anyways. It's just not something I keep track of, or care about. I also don't collect stamps.

You don't collect stamps? Funny, based on everything you just posted, I figured you would.

So what you're telling us is that you are deliberately ignorant of modern media, have an extraordinarily questionable taste in what media you do consume (you managed to will yourself into an actual movie theater seat 4 years ago and chose Hairspray?), and expect us to do to anything but chuckle at your ridiculous opinions? Amazing.

Did you know that we landed on the moon and that you can get the refridgerated air in your own house now?

^I'm with those that would bet on the side of no new park by 2021... but I'm enjoying the speculation. I myself have drawn conceptual site plans for parks based on mythology, American history, Port Disney, Villains, and dozens of other ideas:

One idea suggested here I haven't drawn yet (but may soon) is the Literature-based idea. Really like that one, so long as there are no direct connections to films based on the books. How great would it be to have a park that inspires people to read (Tom Sawyer Island is the proto-typical literature-based attraction). Adventure book section (e.g., Kon Tiki Raft Ride), Mystery (e.g., Sherlock Holmes Mystery Theater), Childrens (Where the Wild Things dark ride, My Father's Dragon Island)etc..

Of course, that would be an unmarketable idea to Disney brass.

Regarding the feasibility of an American History park, I think the concept can be a great one, but it shouldn't be required to coddle to anyone - child or adult - who requires a warts-free reflection of America. Such a park can acknowledge our low/violent moments, but focus & celebrate the good/glorious ones (I have no problem with war/guns/battles in theme parks, that's what most boys grow up dreaming about):

Thanks for the insight Lee. I wish you were wrong and that a 5th park was in the works but I know to well that you know what you're talking about.

I was thinking what Lee's thinking. Capital expenditures are blown for the forseeable future from Avatar and current efforts to fix the existing issues.

Plus the only thing WDW seems interested in building is another DVC. But shhhhhh! The 75,000 units are Disney's best kept secret. :ROFLOL:

REALLY???!! Or you just HATE, HATE, HATE Disney, right?:ROFLOL:

Seriously, how any rational person can look at the current global economy, USA economy, Disney P&R expenditures/investments and blubber on that a fifth park is somehow within the realm of possibility needs to check into a reality clinic.

Or perhaps they missed the part about how DAK brought WDW to a park saturation point and how Disney is losing days to UNI/IOA etc ... or maybe I missed the part about Americans now getting an average of five weeks paid vacation a year:rolleyes::eek::ROFLOL:.

But everytime this topic rears its ugly head (this time to give Hill some attention heading into the fan community gathering in O-Town this weekend to acknowledge the importance of something Disney didn't wish to), I'm convinced of one point: most fans who desire a fifth park likely are bored out of their minds with the four that exist and want something new to feed their habit ... because you can't look at the state of the four existing parks and possibly think ''yeah, Disney should ignore them some more and build another instead!''

Are you implying IOA/UNI can dent WDW's figures?

What I am saying is what is known fact: that many people are taking a day they used to spend at WDW and head to IOA to visit WWoHP instead.

This is why Disney is desperate to grab some attention and went blue in what I believe is a very ill thought out way to 'compete' with the boy who lived up the street.

What Disney has in mind for the 5th park is aimed directly at the Potter demographic. So, dial it back a few notches unbelievers. If what I'm hearing is correct, you'll love WDW's future plans.:)

We all know that the Animal Kingdom needed an expansion - I'm not sure there was a slam dunk idea out there for the park and this at least makes some sense. I do think of the Orlando theme parks, it would probably be best fit for IOA, but I would say DAK would probably be second.

I'm eager to see some concept art and hear some more info on the attraction lineup, but I've gone on record as being cautiously optimistic about it.

From reading posts lately I know some here see you as an expert on all things Disney but I do not know you. Do you work for Disney? Are you in imagineering? Is there something that you have seen that would make your opinion more valid than others that are "hoping" for a 5th park? I have my doubts that a 5th park will happen too, even though it is nice to dream about it, but how do you know one isn't coming?

Dear Lord this is insane. Looking at how the global economy is going to map out over the next decade(s), I'd be surprised if we still had our 4 parks.

Oh, I agree. I seriously doubt that there will be a 5th park. But I don't work at Disney and have no idea what their plans are. And I'd venture to bet that none of the rest of us here have that kind of privileged info either. Some may be a little more connected than most but there are some things that even they will not be told the truth about. If Disney forbids their Imagineers to be members of Disney forum sites, and would quite likely fire their rear ends in a heart beat if they were caught, I think that they might have the same feelings about those Imagineers spilling the beans on major ideas and plans to their "buddies". ;)

So while I do agree that I think there will be no 5th parks, lets be real about it, no one knows for sure. :)

Lee has sources/contacts from that actually are employed by Disney. The sources Lee has to my understanding are not bus drivers, but in higher positions at Disney.

Lee is a person you should trust because of his sources.

Trust in Lee. Well connected.

As is Spirit of 74... although he doesn't come by as much. His humor ruffles the feathers of the thin skinned. I enjoy when he stops by to throw a grenade in the room.

There are a couple more that are well connected. Listen closely. By the way, none of the real insiders use the word "Imagineer," "insider," or "disney" in their handle.

That's what I was talking about. I didn't actually think he was getting info from Stan the bus driver. LOL But I'm pretty sure that even his "higher position" contacts would get in deep crap if they spilled anything to him. I'm just saying that no matter how well connected anyone here thinks they are, no matter who they know, no matter what "insider" people they are acquainted with, ultimately they do not know any more than you or I do. So for someone to sit here and say absolutely, without a doubt that there will not be a 5th park in Disney's future is actually laughable. If that person with "insider knowledge" said "I doubt that it will happen from what I have heard" then that would be better. It would be their opinion. Just like it is other peoples opinion to say that they think it will or to simply dream about what the 5th park would have. Acting elitist and calling people names like Fanboys is kind of petty. I am not in any way disputing that Lee has people he knows that are well connected but his opinions are no more valid than anyone else's. If Lee were to come onto these boards and consistently state factual comments about the inner working of the WDI then I think his inside source would be removed pretty quick. I'd fire them. But the only way that he would know that there is no 5th park in the works is to hear it point blank from his source that "there will be no 5th park". And if that did happen he should state that his source flat told him that it will not be happening and not toss out names at people. ;)
