I can NOT believe the Sox won last night.

*is still shaking head*

Let's hope we get to a game 7....

Wonder if the Rays are sorry they had those 8 cases of champagne delivered to their clubhouse yesterday afternoon...

EVERY team with a chance to clinch does that. If they win and don't have champagne, what's the message--we really didn't think we had a chance to win, so we didn't have any champagne?

Having champagne in the locker room is one thing...but it shouldn't be presented until they actually win it. It was the 6th or 7th inning when they announced that the champagne was on ice in their locker room. Yes, the game looked like it was over and I can't blame there for getting it ready...but it's a bad omen when it's announced to the public. I'm superstitious when it comes to sports.

I am, too. I was so mad at Menino last year when he was talking about the Superbowl victory parade route and how it would affect the primary...
BEFORE the game was played. :brick: And, we all know how that ended.

This was my night.

1st inning: Expletives were spouted at a machine who's job is to just show me a video image.
2nd inning: More of the same.
3rd inning: The phrase, "Way to show up and fight for your season guys!" came out of my mouth.
4th inning: Turned on "The Office" and switched back and forth through commercial breaks. (All the while, being on a rollercoaster of emotions because I got P.O.'d at the game...and then would be laughing at the show.)
5th inning: Oy vey.
6th inning: Tina goes to bed...and I decided to watch one last inning (considering it was the last game of the season).
Top of 7th inning: Papelbon comes in...and I scratch my head...but at least I'd get to see him pitch one more time before April.
Middle of 7th inning: I take the dogs out to do their business...and put them in their crates for the night.
Bottom of 7th inning: I walk into the living room to shut the TV off and call it a night...Chip Caray says, "The champagne is on ice waiting in the Tampa Bay locker room." I think to myself...that's NEVER good to say. But, they're up 7 runs...it's inevitable. I reach for the remote...just as I'm about to push "POWER" Pedy drives in a run. WOOHOO! No SHUTOUT! (I was actually so happy they didn't get shut out.) Then...BAM...PAPI woke up! 7-4 now. 8th inning: How could one go to bed... 7-6 because of Drew. Coco drives in Kotsay to tie it!!! :sohappy: (That's when I posted to Scott above).
9th inning: Masterson is in trouble...1 out...a guy on first...and Pena...the man who NEVER hits into a double play but has killed the Red Sox this series is at the plate. DOUBLE PLAY!
I knew...that Double Play was this year's "Dave Roberts' stolen base."
Let's walk Jason Bay...DREW AGAIN!

MY TURN!!!

1st Inning: BJ (EXPLETIVE) UPTON!!!!!!!! SOMEONE GET THIS (EXPLETIVE) OUT FOR ONCE!!!!!!!!!
2nd Inning: Okay Dice K not doing anything too bad but I'm still angry the bats suck...
3rd Inning: lose my flipping mind and go off on that "machine" you speak of myself...
4th inning: literally just sit there life-less as I watch another at bat come and go with ZERO fire power
5th inning: literally cannot move. all my life has been sucked out of me... just feel sooooo disappointed. Just... disappointed is the only word I can use...
6th Inning: play a game of madden, bust out a win... feel a tad better about myself...
7th Inning: watch Paps give up two runs and decide... it's time for the playoff beard to go (haven't shaved since the start of the playoffs... it was REALLLLLY thick)
mid 7th: shaving my beard... takes an eternity... in the background I hear Paps get out of the rest of the inning...
bottom 7: lying in bed ready to go to sleep watching the game... Papi hits the jack and I sprint throughout my apartment getting my roommates up to go hit up the living room for the TV...
spend innings 8 and 9 listening to "brass bonanza" on repeat everytime the sox did something good... nearly jumped through the ceiling and through the floor... screaming like a mad man... and ended up running down my street in just a pair of shorts celebrating JD Drew... the 70 million dollar man...

Yep, I put the victory on me shaving my playoff beard...

Oh yeah, me too.

Perhaps the Rays learned a valuable lesson last night in this. Or perhaps their psyche is crushed. :lookaroun

:ROFLOL: It was a similar deal with me. I turned it off for The Office and SNL... then decided to watch an ep of The Shield... and then I turned it back on at 7-0 and officially gave up. I was in my bedroom when I heard Caray screaming about Papi's HR and then I came out and got hooked again.

That was me too... except at the 4th inning, I left the house to go to a friends house for some drinks.

I got a text message in the 7th from my cousin in Brookline: "OMG! R U WATCHING THE GAME"

I ran from my friends house, to a bar 2 blocks away, and slip the bartender $10 to put on the game.

I put the victory on my leaving the house for drinks.

Good luck to all the Rays and Sox fans tonight! I'm not a fan of either team but even I am excited to watch the game tonight.

And just wondering, what are WS tickets going for in Tampa and Boston? Seems around here the going rate for standing room starts around $450+. I'm almost crazy enough to use the money I got back for my game 6 NLCS tickets and use them for my Dad and I for Game 5.

I don't think they go on sale until they know which team is going to the World Series.

I'd say $450-$500 for standing sounds about right. Hopefully I'll be able to get a couple through work if we're lucky enough to make it that far.
