2008 Baseball Playoffs

I mean 1st amendment???
Doesn't apply to a UK-based web site. ;)

Not to pick on you, but speaking for myself, it's always kind of a drag when somebody comes into a sports discussion just to rag on a team. It's kinda like dropping into a political or religious convo just to trash a party or denomination. Every team being discussed has fans involved in the discussion (or at least reading it).

But that is part of talking sports.....you win some you loose some....you get dumped on....you dump on others....I mean its all in good fun.

my team didn't even make the playoffs...I honestly didn't mean any harm, just talking. It wasn't like I was running them in the dirt or saying they were horrible or anything like that, just making the OBVIOUS statement that they choked yet again.

You're right about that...which is why I pretty much avoid the forums at ESPN.com. I just don't get a charge out of all the chest-pounding and trash-talking, but that's just me.

Anyway, I'm not a Cubs fan, so you don't owe me any apologies/explanations. Just giving you my take on the subject.

I just assumed....yes I know what happens when you assume....that since it was sports related it was accepted and everyone wouldn't wear their teams feelings on their sleeves.

I know and see what is expected or accepted and will watch my posts.

An exciting game today on the south side of Chicago. We managed to stave off elimination and have Gavin Floyd going in tomorrow's game. It ain't over.

No, it's not. All TB did was hold serve in their own building. The thing that scared me about being matched with the W-Sox was their veteran presence of the playoffs and us being here for the first time.

Is the fat lady warming up yet?

Its getting interesting. A White Sox v Rays series... I would watch that.... even though technically my baseball season ended on Saturday.

That's okay, makes it easier for me to say this:

GO DODGERS!!!!

Should be a great series! I was hoping LA would come out ontop of Chicago because the Cubs seemed intimidating, but I have to admit LA is a little scary. Actually, a lot scary.

The season series was tied 4-4 with each team sweeping the other in their home parks. But, if I remember correctly the Phils swept the Dodgers after they got Manny which is comforting.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I get picked in the lottery again for NLCS tix! The fact that Philly has an actual shot of making it to the world series seems like a dream! Seems like yesterday I was 12 years old and crying in my basement over that darn Joe Carter.....

And, yesterday was especially sweet in that the Eagles lost again! I'm so tired of hearing about them and every step Donovan McNabb takes....

Just after all the build up about how this is the Cubs year and all that jazz....they lived up to their name and image......but this time there isn't a Bartman to blame for choking.
I will say speaking as a Cub fan it was an exciting year...one to remember, despite how it ended. I don't blame the media nor my fellow Cub fans for getting excited about this team.
Sadly, We do have egg on our face and the stigma remains.

ZzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZ

Sorry, I'm exhausted after watching that game last night

Great game though.

I knew the Angels wouldn't just roll over and play dead.

Seems like we had opposite reactions to that Joe Carter Homerun. I was pulling for the Jays in that Series. I have relatives in Canada so I would root for the Canadian teams when I was growing up. It's too bad 1994 ended with a strike. They may have been pretty far back at the time, but anything is possible. Maybe they would have managed three in a row. Oh, well.

GO RED SOX!!!
GO RED SOX WEST... er... DODGERS!!

They are killing me with these games!

12 innings last night, and tonight's game isn't scheduled to start until 8:37... :hammer:

It's funny, I ended up marrying a man from Toronto. First time I met his parents and went to his house there was a lithograph of an artist's rendition of Joe Carter's at bat in his basement. I nearly died

Yes I'm keeping confidence against LA - because like you said, they swept us in LA and we swept them in Philly, so if we hold true to that now, we'll win! (home field) But either way this will be a tough match!

It is a dream that they could make the WS! I can't wait!!!!!!! I am going to NLCS game 1. (picked in lottery) So excited! I remember that day very well too........I was in highschool - Junior year - had a party over my house to watch the game, and ended up crying into a pillow when stupid joe carter did that.

That spring after the 93 world series, I took out my glove to throw around a baseball with my brother in the backyard, looked at the "reproduced" signature on it, and it's signed by none other than JOE CARTER. I think I threw it away. :)

This time will be different!!!!!!!! GO PHILLIES!!!!!!!!!!!! :sohappy:
