How much longer does Shrek 4-D have?

Not in a hurry to replace "everything". But most 3D films are kept far too long. For me, Shrek 4D was one-and-done.

Universal Epic Universe (South Expansion Complex) - Opens 2025

I'm impressed that they didn't try to dish out an unrealistic song-and-dance about re-opening with temperature scanners, social distancing and wiping door handles every time someone touches them. Like some theme park companies I could name 😉

Universal Studios Florida vs Islands of Adventure

I give the nod to IOA for overall theming and feel. Including ambient music etc. USF is a great park but it's a little bit random. For example the "World's Fair" theme in the Simpsons and Men in Black area was never strong. Rip Ride Rockit is a great coaster but it pretty much finished off the...

    Universal Epic Universe Lands poll

I have a theory that this is why there will be no Mary Poppins attraction at Epcot. The 2 principal stars will want loadsadough (unlike when they signed off on Great Movie Ride) and an attraction without their likenesses is almost inconceivable.

Lord of the Rings: Return of the Rumor

If you mean Christopher Tolkien, he resigned some time ago from managing the estate and died last January. The estate spent a lot of time stuck in lawsuits arising from JRR having sold the film rights in 1969. The current situation may be a bit unwieldy with Chris Tolkien's second wife and...

NY Times: Bob Iger Effectively Back As CEO

And what does an HR Decision Scientist with a PhD in stats do for Disney? Is it about decisions to cut or expand theme park staff? Or is it about behind the scenes staffing such as IT and phone and online support.

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Was this list accidentally cut off, or is there actually not a single doctor or scientific expert on the list?

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I tried to avoid all that speculation about, "models show it will peak in Des Moines in early May and they can reopen the feed lot late June with social distancing" and similar talk. But the few times that I DID look at those stories and charts, they contained the phrase, "Based on the Chinese...

Rumor Guest temp check at bag check?

"The issue here is not whether whether we broke a few rules of epidemiology or took liberties with common sense in order to spread false hope among our fans, curry political favor and secure bank credit that we might not have got otherwise - we did. But you can't hold a whole company responsible...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

I find that the body of most media articles are honest descriptions of the preliminary research. Usually. I've read some really horrendous mischaracterizations but that's not the norm. Still, people should read the actual published study and not depend on news summaries. Especially if they...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Consider the ride vehicles. How many of them could hold more than 1 or two people who are 6 feet apart? I figure, Test Track - one per car. Pirates, Splash Mtn (WDW), IASW - 2 per boat. Most dark rides and coasters - one per car. And the cars are moving. If someone coughs or breathes a cloud of...

Why is construction still happening at Universal, but not Disney?

If there really was a plan to re-open by date "X" in the next few months then they wouldn't have completely shut down all construction. If it was safe to let 10,000 people into a theme park with social distancing, masks and wiping down stuff (which I don't believe) then it would also be safe to...

Coronavirus and Walt Disney World general discussion

Viruses are nasty and there is no consistent pattern between any types of virus with respect to origins, contagiousness, symptoms, mortality, individual or herd immunity, infection rate, vaccination, treatment, reinfection, mutation and so on. Consider: HIV, warts, chickenpox, herpes, HPV...

Why is construction still happening at Universal, but not Disney?

Went for a drive on Tuesday ... the transit construction project near my place is proceeding. Little groups of 2 or 3 workers standing around discussing things while another guy operates the crane or bulldozer 😷🤒🤧 ... no masks. EDIT for clarity this is not Orlando or WDW

Try posting something about Julie Andrews' costar in Mary Poppins. Probably get banned for a twofer!

Why is construction still happening at Universal, but not Disney?

This is good news for Disney fans. Hypothetically, what would it do to Disney's D/E ratio if its operating earnings were negative with no definite date set for the resumption of normal operations, and if they continued to borrow in order to cover their cash burn rate?
