Orlando Becoming East Coast Headquarters for Disney Parks, Experiences, and Products

I believe it's that general area. I couldn't put my finger on the exact office location. What's also interesting is that WDI has separate trailers as well, in addition to the office space. Between DHS, Maingate, and Celebration there are a lot of back offices for Disney Corporate and other...

Lightning Lane at Walt Disney World

They really should like cast members and annual passholders purchase this as an add-on to their pass or at a discounted rate. In Disneyland, cast members can purchase Genie plus with a 20% discount.

Disney Vacation Club Welcome Home Weeks

Interesting they are giving out the 20% QSR on mobile orders at select QSR. That is the same discount that cast members get for QSR.

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

This is just a reminder that the ticketing and reservation cast members on the phones or frontline cast in the park are doing their best to help guests. The ticketing and reservation cast don't work with DAS and are not as familiar with it.

New DAS System at Walt Disney World 2024

I would advise some caution around the satisfaction surveys when calling in. Those surveys at least at Disney are used to rate the performance of the cast member on the phone and not the overall company. If the cast member gets a bad rating it will negatively affect their job.

Rumor Higher Speed Rail from MCO to Disney World

The 417 route would cost less but also is chalk full of things that could slow down the project. Brightline would need to work with FDOT over using the 417 alignment and back in 2021, the HOA representing Hunters Creek had expressed opposition to the alignment...

Rumor Higher Speed Rail from MCO to Disney World

New interesting development: https://www.bizjournals.com/orlando/news/2024/04/26/disney-springs-sunrail-station.html Walt Disney World has signaled they are open to having an on-property SunRail station. The company in an unsigned statement to Orlando Business Journal said they would be open...

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

Was curious about this: Is there an expectation that CFTOD will delegate some responsibilities to the cities as part of the understanding between the state and Disney?

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

This is spot on. I would also add even that absent TWDC preceeding with the suit that allows for restoration of the original legislation, this settlement is the most realistic to settle the lawsuit. The only ways that RCID gets restored is via an act of the legislature or restoration from the...

In hindsight, was the appointment of the new admin a possible of thawing? The difference between them and former admin is night and day when it comes to experience with running a municpal govt.

Not if it helps or hurts, but having someone who is actually from Orange/Osceola/Polk/Lake/Seminole helps with understanding the big impact TWDC has on the economy of Central Florida. Local perspective matters.

News 'Encanto' and 'Indiana Jones'-themed experiences at Animal Kingdom

So with additional experiences potentially coming to DAK would that require any expansion of the bus terminals or to make room for adding the skyliner? Or can the current infrastructure handle the expected crowds?

I guess they need more space for WDI at DAK. I guess the WDI Offices at HS and Epcot don't have enough room?

News Disney Lakeshore Lodge (Project 89 - Development near Fort Wilderness)

While we're on the train, I thought I'd post something I found interesting. This shows areas for potential development. I found a very interesting to see the areas by the wide world of sports, the little area by flamingo crossing that is east of 429, and the area west of Magic Kingdom.

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

Thanks for posting this. Going through this does seem to answer one of my questions about the district. Given the new new leadership structure would they continue to issue new bonds or solely rely on revenue generated from fees and ad valorem? Pages 87-88 show some of the projects they will be...

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

Impact fees and WDW aren't a new issue. In the 1980s Orange County and WDW got into a feud over WDW not paying impact fees, particularly over the development of MGM/HS. Eventually, they all settled and WDW ended up paying a one-time fee, sort of as a replacement for the impact fee...

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

The part about relying on a singular source isn't wrong. It's the right thing to pursue economic diversification with economic industries. A good economy has a healthy mix of different industries. But Orlando/Central FL is a different case. Tourism and tourism services are the bread and butter...
