    What did you do?

Another 3 miles today in 30 degree weather, which seems to be the norm here in Chicagoland. At least the pavement is clear and dry. It's a little disheartening that my times are worse than when it was warmer, but that always happens to me in cold temps.

    What did you do?

About a year and a half ago, middle son had just started to work out by walking and running. He wanted to go on one of my runs with me, and he struggled through three miles. I had to slow down at points. Oh, how the tides have turned. I knew he'd been working up the "run" part of his...

    What did you do?

Took the first weekend off running for a while. Instead, played football today (1.5 hours of stop-and-go running) and tennis yesterday (lost to middle son 6-3, 6-3 in, again, about 1.5 hours of stop-and-go running). I'll be curious if my speed improves on my next run.

    What did you do?

Cold 3 miler today. My nose has been running non-stop ever since. I guess my sinuses aren't ready for the cold yet.

    What did you do?

We went to mandatory work from home in March and only recently opened the offices to everyone. However, we have a virtual first policy, so working from home is still expected. It has been great for my running. I can run during the daylight hours most any day of the week. I check the weather...

    What did you do?

I have the free version of RunKeeper, too. The splits are pretty rudimentary and there's no real way to analyze the data it's keeping, but at least it has the basics. I particularly like the shoe tracking. I have RunKeeper set to track miles and FitBit set to track kilometers, so I don't have...

    What did you do?

Ran three miles this morning at 50 degrees and windy. Actually had to wear long sleeves!

    What did you do?

I always run outside. It's way more satisfying and interesting. As for pacing, I run as fast as I can throughout my run while still breathing in through my nose (and out through my mouth). My pace just sort of adjusts itself that way. I don't walk until my cool down. Something that I...

    What did you do?

I'm sorry to hear that. I was out three months last year with blood clots in my left calf. It drove me crazy not to run, and I watched my fitness deteriorate (from resting heart rate of 50 to 64 and VO2 from 51 to 44). It took me four months to get it all back. At least you can watch...

    What did you do?

Whenever I really want to increase my speed, I spend a couple of runs with interval training. For me, that means every time I run across a cul-de-sac on my route (6 or 7 times), I run at near full speed through it. My speed on the next "regular" run after that is typically very good.

    What did you do?

I got 3 miles in at a wonderful 57 degrees this morning. I had to wear my Hoka's for the extra padding for my feet. Felt good.

    What did you do?

Running in a far NW suburb of Chicago in beautiful McHenry County, Illinois. Had a great run on Saturday to start August. Had an even better day playing baseball yesterday, but unfortunately pounded the balls of my feet (long game, old bad spikes). Perfect weather for running today, but as a...

News Primeval Whirl, Stitch's Great Escape and Rivers of Light permanently closed

Primeval Whirl and Stitch were just taking up space. Rivers of Light, on the other hand, was an entertaining show, especially given the constraints of a night time show at AK. Surprised it got the boot, as it would be pretty easy to section off every other row. In my dreamworld, Stitch would...

    What did you do?

100% agree on the weather impacts. My categories are: 55-65 Perfect 45-55, 65-75 Will do fine 35-45, 75-85 Not going to hit my best time, but can power through it 20-35, 85-90 Well, I need to get a run in, even a really uncomfortable one <20, >90 What's on TV?

    What did you do?

It's cool that you can run everyday. Some of my friends are able to run daily, but not me. My muscles typically need another day to recover.

    What did you do?

According to RunKeeper, I had my fastest 2-4 mile run this morning out of 630 miles of tracked runs! I don't know how many of the 217 runs were in the 2-4 mile range, but quite a few. I do have a bunch of 1 mile runs in there, as well, because it's 1 mile to our local park where I play...

    What did you do?

How'd it go? Other than the icy/hot, the other strategies I've tried are wearing compression gear and drinking water 30 minutes before running.

    What did you do?

I've done that, though usually with a lower back or oblique muscle. I'll turn a little too sharply or bend in a slightly weird way, and there it goes. Frustrating.

    What did you do?

Couldn't get out at 6am and had to go just before lunch at 11am. Not good. 87, sunny, and bonkers humidity. Oh, did my speed suffer. I haven't run this slow in over a month, according to both RunKeeper and FitBit. Given the choice between heat stroke and slow time, I chose the latter.

    What did you do?

3 miles at 6:00am. Only 73 degrees, but definitely had the 300% humidity. Shirt, socks, underwear ... soaked almost as though I had jumped in a pool. A gross, sweat-filled pool.
