    Some Post-Trip Thoughts

Another bonus of staying "on property". However, now that we live in Orlando...I've learned to embrace the horror. At least they are actively working to widen I-4 all along the corridor we take to get to the parks (including Universal).

Magic Kingdom to lose ROA, Riverboat, and TSI for Cars Land

I haven't posted on this forum for awhile, but it's getting to the point where it's not even worth reading. We visited TSI (for the first time in about 10 years) a year ago...and swore that we would never waste the time it takes to get over/back to the island again. Walt himself once said the...

News EPCOT's Harmonious to be replaced with new nighttime spectacular Luminous

I think a WoC type show should be in AK...no matter what the cost. I would consider it a permanent addition (similar to CA), so the cost could be amortized over a long period.

Rumor Spaceship Earth Redo Shelved Indefinitely

I attended that same convention/session and concur; it was also cool to meet Bob Gurr in person. Can't wait for the next RetroWDW event (I think they said a couple of years)!

Rumor Spaceship Earth Redo Shelved Indefinitely

That is one of the options (something like magnetic induction). The truth is, they know what it will be (were ready to do it before the Pandemic hit), but details weren't disclosed.

Rumor Spaceship Earth Redo Shelved Indefinitely

No. It's not even about removing all the ride vehicles. The (eventual) SSE "refurb" will involve removing the entire ride track/path and replacing it with something else (could be magnetic/mechanical/whatever). If you have ever seen a presentation/drawings on the building of SSE, you know that...

News Walt Disney World Annual Pass price increases October 2023

That statement is so broad ("Information" is the worst marketing term) that you could argue it includes everything/anything. Go back to the original justification for the Florida Project, and you'll see that the company recognized that hotels/transportation (within the resort)/etc. were all part...

News Walt Disney World Annual Pass price increases October 2023

I don't follow that logic. Whether or not they ever "part out" the company, updating the "product" (whether that's new rides or new decor) has to happen. Personally, I think the 1980's (read Storming the Magic Kingdom) will be the closest the company ever comes to a wholesale "breakup"...and I...

    The Ones I Don't Do

This is a very interesting thread. Now that we are locals, I suppose we do have a "skip" list. MK Most everything in Fantasyland except 7DMT and Small World Barnstormer Tom Sawyer's Island EPCOT The "films" HS Muppets 3D Walt Disney Story (again: "films") Racing Academy AK Tough to be a Bug...

Hollywood Studios table service or leave the park

We seem to be eating at HS more than any other park the last few months...so here are some sit-down recommendations. Mama Melrose is a "must eat" (if you like Italian at all)...and it's probably one of the best values in all of WDW (lots of food for not lots of $). The caesar salad and bread are...

I think Yak and Yeti is a GREAT Restaurant, what do you all think?

Tusker House should be high on your list...both for breakfast (not a lot of other options) and dinner. The Satuli Canteen (in Pandora) is often overlooked.

What Is Your WDW Resort History?

These span my time from child to adult...the former with parents and the latter with wife/kids (until we moved to Orlando in 2022). Contemporary (both wings and tower) x6 Bay Lake Tower x1 Polynesian x2 Grand Floridian x4 Caribbean Beach x1 Coronado Springs (tower) x1 I am partial to the...

    Yes...or both (as mentioned above).

I think Yak and Yeti is a GREAT Restaurant, what do you all think?

Ummm...no. We have dined there a couple of times now (trying a couple of different things) and it just isn't that good. Definitely other places I'd rather eat in AK (and that's not saying a whole lot).

Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind vs Rock 'n' Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith

Both...and have ridden both in the last week or so.

News Reedy Creek Improvement District and the Central Florida Tourism Oversight District

I kind of get the "Disney denies" stuff in the beginning, and get the "Counts" at the end...but what does the "Affirmative Defense" stuff do in the middle (and I've never even heard the phrase "Equitable estoppel")? This whole thing is turning into one big mess!

How difficult is the visa situation for Shanghai Disney?

We did this in 2016 (a couple months after the park opened) on the way from Japan->US (we took a cruise). In retrospect, I'm not sure a longer stay would have been worth the hassle, which makes me wonder how many International visitors they get each year. I understand the park was built...

News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

I agree with a lot of what has been said in the last few posts, but I think this (incorrect) assumption is one of the root causes of the current problem. I'm beginning to think Iger's ego is the problem, and his previous lack of a succession strategy--which he is attempting to rectify with the...

News The Walt Disney Company Board of Directors Extends Robert A. Iger’s Contract as CEO Through 2026

Wow: respectfully disagree. We have dined at the Chinese pavilion at EPCOT several times the last few months (after avoiding it for years)...and the food has been very good. But I guess this isn't really the place/topic for "food debates".
