You are correct.
The national media has more important things to cover. Outside of Florida people aren't going to care.
WDW- located in Florida- Should definitely care about what the residents of Florida think.
My guess is the people in Florida are as divided as the people on these boards. That being said looking at the way Floridians flock to the beaches I'm guessing there's enough people happy about the parks opening to satisfy Disney.
I know cast who work in the parks. They advise a lot of locals refuse to follow the suggested mask policy around town and are openly defiant.
From at least one person I know of on the ground they are not handing out face shields to CMs. This person made a request and Disney said no and they went to the union who also said no so they went and bought their own. They are allowed to use them but not supplied by Disney. This is a person who is in the high risk group but needs to work. Just one story and maybe that’s changed since they were back to work in one of the first waves back. They also were not doing daily temp checks for CMs either. I believe that has been improved but still not consistent across the board. The plans are so,I’d bjt they need to follow through to keep CMs as safe as possible.
People that work at Costco, Walmart, Airlines, and many other large companies have died. I'm not sure why a castmember dying is going to cause a media firestorm.
A mass outbreak would probably be a bigger story than one person dying. The only way it’s a firestorm is if there’s any sort of link to Disney not following through on their commitments to safety. Look at the Landrys story from DS. Never made national news but was a much bigger story because of the alleged attempt to cover up and the company not sending the worker home allegedly.
If the employees follow the rules that shouldn't happen. I work at a hospital and only a couple of employees have gotten COVID and they may not have even gotten it from work. If healthcare workers that are exposed to COVID daily can keep themselves safe by wearing masks and washing their hands cast members should be able to do the same.
Then I’m hoping they wear n95, face shields, gloves.. just like my 3 cousins do at the hospitals they work at. That’s what keeps them safe.
I've been in hospitals that staff have extensive PPE in air conditioning surroundings. At MK, the weather can be so hot one can fry eggs on Main Street. I would be happy if the cast had their mask on.
Those people are symptomatic and are getting treatments that make the virus airborne. Were talking about protection outside against possible asymptomatic spreaders. Masks and physical distancing will work just as well at Disney as it does at your local Costco.
I don't understand why people are forcing themselves to get on a plane? If you're that uptight about it then don't do it or find another mode.
At least they'll be forced (hopefully) to wear masks at WDW unlike most bars that aren't doing any enforcing.
The T-Rex, Landry's story is interesting as in wasn't covered by any national news or any news for that matter that I could find other than social media posts and Disney blogs reporting on the social media post. You think if there was a story and coverup at least one valid news source would pick it up. Might have missed it though, haven't seen all the news sources. Makes me wonder of the veracity of it.
