Debating with myself on the Disney+ d23 deal and if I should get it. I'm annoyed with Disney right now for not allowing it on the Amazon Firestick, which is what we use in our house... to stream it would require yet another streaming device.

I signed up the first day of Expo. It is an amazing deal, but then again I always knew I would sign up but now with this deal I don’t think I’ll have to cancel Netflix, it should slide into the budget ok. I bet it will go on the Firestick. Do you have an iPhone? You could connect that to your tv and watch it that way.

I swore I replied to this.. but I don't know where it went. Yes I have an iphone, but I have an older tv, how would I display my iphone on the tv?

Actually, there are some that quickly come to mind, that have very minimal walking. Those are: the Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge, the Yacht Club, the Boardwalk, and the Swan and Dolphin. There may be others, but those popped into my thoughts right away.
The contemporary as a bus stop nearby?
Or are we talking about the monorail?

As for Wilderness Lodge. This is for the boat right?
Boardwalk.. I have not been there personally. Neither to the Yatch Club.
I always imagined that you had to walk A LOT fro the Swan an Dolphin. (all the way around the waterway). or the bus stop is closer?

Fun morning for us. We lined up early for Hagrid again. Got in line at 7:45 for a park opening at 9. They opened the gates at 8:50. Still an incredible ride. After that we rode Buckbeak and then walked around. No real plans so if we saw an attraction we went on it as long as the wait wasn’t more than 15 minutes. The Seuss area is very cute. We went to Margaritaville for lunch and it was as good as the last time. One of my girls made a palm tree with the wikistix, and youngest made a sailboat. I had a corn and black bean taco. Really good. My oldest had jambalaya. Dh had the beyond Burger. Seems like restaurants are now opting for Beyond or Impossible burgers instead of a whole food type burger. A little disappointing. My younger 2 love the Volcano song, so sang it when it played. We then went to the Studios park because the younger 2 wanted to go in the Hello Kitty store. The same Team Member who helped us in May helped us again today so we chatted a bit. We came back to the hotel because it was supposed to rain. Well it didn’t so I am now sitting in the room catching up. Tomorrow we head to Clearwater for a beach day.

Yep, it’s way into moderate range pricing now, and pretty much has been since about the time all sections became open.
As I posted, we enjoyed our stay there very much, especially with my 60% CM discount, but, we’re not payin’ moderate+ prices for a value-themed resort.
We’d rather stay at POR...!!! :)

It’s actually a lot more than the moderates! I talked to my sister about POFQ, but she thinks the transportation system will be worse, and she doesn’t want the smaller room.

I’m now trying to talk them into WL (which didn’t go so well when she threw in my face that I complained about the size of their rooms), and BWI. I still think WL will be the best choice if they really don’t want to spend the money on a monorail resort.. but at the same time, this is my parents’ last trip.. 20something years they stayed at monorail resorts.. they should be able to do it this time as well.

The thing is, this was supposed to be a grandparents/grandkids trip.. if she wants to go then they should stay where my parents would have stayed, imo. That said, I do empathize with the sticker shock, I wouldn’t pay the prices of where CR/Poly/GF are at right now, but if a discount comes out then they should switch.. in the meantime, switch to something with a pool slide and a full service restaurant and less walking.

Actually, French Quarter is the most compact resort on property. But, after walking in a park all day, even a few more steps can feel like a few more miles to a person without trouble walking.

I’d rate like this- in terms of convenience to food and transportation-

1. Contemporary
2. GF (depending on building)
3. Poly (depending on building)
4. WL
5. POFQ
6. BWI
7. YC/BC

I would choose POFQ above any other moderate and any deluxe not listed above. I chose a preferred room at All Star Sports over a standard room at POR for a 2 night 1 day stay. Pulled up to POR and said “no way, too big for this trip!” Went to the desk and made the change.

Slim pickings when you book a stay 72 hours in advance the week of Thanksgiving

You and I have similar personalities, which I've mentioned before. I think you're slightly more type A than me naturally, but I've been working a lot this past year or so on recognizing what I can and cannot control. I wanted to mention this here because.... Similar to the trip T recently had to the beach... there are a LOT of things you would plan differently if you were planning this trip. There are a lot of tips and tricks you know and experience you can draw from and you have a million ideas of how to make the best of this trip for T.

But you're not planning this trip. They are. They are ultimately going to go with their own choices. And they absolutely won't be the same ones you would make. And they absolutely won't take into consideration the life lessons you've learned from previous trips. But you cannot control this. And even if dad sits in the resort because he cannot walk any more, and even if they only eat fries for dinner because there isn't a sit down restaurant, and even if they end up waiting fifty minutes for buses to MK.... T is going to have SO MUCH FUN. The other kids will too. And that's really what your parents want to get out of this.

I feel like maybe this might be a good opportunity to say "hey, consider how much walking is involved with this resort" but then take a step back. Because at the end of the day, they're going to do what they want to do. And T will have fun regardless.

It's not easy, but this is what I've been working on for a while now and it does make life a lot better when you let go of the things you cannot control.

You are spot on. Honestly, I appreciate your post.. sometimes I need a mirror!
I’m definitely a neurotic control freak. I have the self awareness to admit it. 🤣

I will take your advice, at least to the best of my ability. I truly do believe their choice of resorts is a huge mistake for my dad. If he wasn’t going then it would be fine. I’m going to drop it for a week (and especially for next couple of days while I’m out of town) and then keep searching for reviews, as well as print out resorts maps, and a list of pros, cons, and price points for each of the 4 resorts in the packet. I’ll give a folder to my mom, and one to my sister., then all I can do is hope that they make an educated decision, and that my dad will be ok.

I think that's a really good plan. I do agree that they need the information and you can control that (by gathering the information for them that they won't gather). But keep in mind, they still might not read it. Or draw the same conclusions you would. People can be silly creatures.

But T is going to have so much fun. He'll be in Disney with his cousins!!
