I really feel like it was something they cooked up awhile ago, and couldn't (or didn't want to) change course. During the height of the recession, and for awhile after, Walmart and Dollar General were doing great, and Whole Foods was going gang busters, as were high end retailers. Everything in the middle, not so great. And it made more sense for Disney to go after the Whole Foods eating, Nordstrom's shopping crowd.

I do that when we fly in October. I've come home with a really bad case of the flu, when I didn't get a shot. I never go now with my flu shot. Worst case of flu, I've ever had, and I had to fly home while sick. I took my coat, and hung out under it, while flying. I hope no one else got sick. We now travel with surgical masks, that Doctor gives us. I must be the biggest wYes I will!And sleeping in is a blessing of a long trip during the summer, you then have enough energy to stay during the cooler hours when others bail.
We are normally up by 1 or 2 am for the first flight out at 6am. Last trip taxi didn't show up, scared the bejeebers out of me.Then when they sent one the dude was sick. I opened my window and buried my head in my coat. I'm a wimp like that.

I love that place too, fish, chili, chicken and the tuna or lighthouse sandwich. We have been there many times. I've only been disappointed once.
I agree, allergies on vacation are terrible. Drink lots of water to flush the junk out of your body. A small piece of Dramamine, might help (less than a quarter of a pill.) It might get you by, without going to sleep. If that doesn't work, try a quarter piece. If you have never taken Dramamine. Don't go beyond that, until you see how you do.
August is usually very hot and humid. Have you seen the neck cloths that have beads in them? You put it in cold water, ring it out and put in the refrigerator. This will keep you cool for a couple hours, go to the restroom put under cold water, it will become instantly cool again. We have use those for years. You can usually order on line, or a Sports store.
Disney has been very good about letting things rot. I would hope with the Zika threat, the state of Florida will now make them clean up River Country. So disgusting.How 'bout it? Just look at how long WoL has been abandoned.
The worst thing I cannot wrap my brain around is River Country. Why Why not raze that mosquito breeding ground? I just don't understand the need to let that continue to rot at Ft Wilderness.

Prairie dogs are native to Colorado. They carry the hanta virus, ( deadly to humans) and rabies. Also deadly. If he brings one home, take it to the vet to make sure it isn't carrying either disease. They can look and act perfectly fine, and carry both or either diseases. Just some friendly info.
