Whelp, we loved the Star Wars fireworks. Completely different from what they were in the winter. Lots of projections, lasers...just very cool. What I especially liked was that they had a heck of a lot of Rey in this. Less Kylo Ren, more Rey. As it should be. It bothers me that they've placed more emphasis on Kylo Ren, a subpar villain, than Rey, an excellent heroine. But they didn't for the fireworks, which makes me happy.

I wonder if this means, they aren't getting a lot of visitor's.

Disney put a great deal of high end signature restaurants in Springs. My guess is the average visitor can only take so many of those $100+ dinners per guest per vacation. Most seem awesome but stilll...market? Tiffins fell on its face cause Rivers didn't produce by the launch of Tiffins. Time will tell if Rivers is worth $100+ per person for a Rivers reserved seating over the long haul. Initially maybe.

I have the same concern for Disney Springs Town Square. Just how many visitors are going to budget in $100 t-shirt in all these high end stores. You've got at least 5 stores with $250-$500 Disney purses. Or will most still be flocking to the $10 disney antenna toppers? I'm in awe of what they have built. I just wonder how many guests have that type of disposable income. The vacation, resorts, general food and theme park tickets are over the top to start with. I'm really curious to see the viability and sustainability over a couple years of the high end retail and restaurants. We've already seen Tiffins within a few weeks of opening offer alternative menus.

pretty sure @PhotoDave219 ,@ParentsOf4 and others have expressed their opinions on how Disney is pretty much now targeting the rich and leaving the middle class in the dust with their prices.
Hence why the real selling might be down, and the higher earnings are just because of higher prices.

Wow it sounds like a fantastic way to eat and spend Christmas at Disney. I told hubby if we ever have a Christmas Eve/Day where he doesn't have to work we will spend it at WDW. I think it would be so awesome to do the Candlelight Processional on Christmas Eve. And if we did that we would probably eat at the Biergarten. But unless he changes churches, which we aren't looking to do, we will have to wait until retirement. For some reason, I think the congregation expects the pastor to lead services on Christmas! So they wouldn't be happy with him taking vacation that day.

I'm all with you with Christmas. It can't be about the attractions those particular days. You need to kinda reinvent the holidays. But yes, the Pastor being awol for Christmas could be a downer for the parish, Jesus vs the Mouse kinda thing, might not go over well.

But we did have some awesome Christmas' But still not without their monkey wrenches as example.... My DD 4. Was fine from December 23 arrival until December 25. Then wanted to go home seriously to see what Santa had left. My folks were no help saying she could go home with them December 30th. We were staying until January 8th, the 2nd half of the trip without my folks. No you aren't taking one of my kids home to celebrate Christmas without us. When planning the trip with my folks one week with them, one week without, feeding into the drama of a 4 year olds emotions was not anticipated. So not the master plan. That was also the trip my Dad misbehaved cause he mistakenly diagnosed himself as dying (he lived another 20 years) It was an amazing trip, don't get me wrong but boy it did have some drama attached.

But from what I've observed there really isn't that many over the top wealthy visiting Disney World. Sure there are the guests visiting that are staying in resorts that are beyond their income. Way back there was Japanese visitors until Tokyo became a better alternative. Then there was Brazil until their economic and political structure crashed. The European block until the dollar exchange crashed somewhat the same with Canada. Frankly the US is better but not grand. I'm not sure the whole idea of Springs is a good business model given the global economy. The wares of Town Square are availale for the most part anywhere in the USA. Multiple places in Orlando. I'm missing who they think their target audience is? The guests, the locals? The median income of the locals isn't that demographic. The average overall guest isn't that either. I'm interested in the 3 year marker to see how this business model plays out.

its on a lake, the lake itself is a breeding ground :p

Not really. The lake is constantly moving. The inners of River is contained. It is green and slimy. A perfect environment for mosquitoes.
The waves of Bay keep everything moving and churning. River Country, not so much.

This is not the kind of water conditions you find at the GF, Contemporary, Wilderness Lodge or or the Poly.

I agree. Unfortunately I don't believe that many filthy rich are spending their vacations at WDW.

Well of course not. If you can afford Dry Aged-Ribeye, you dont pay that same price for Sirloin!

Which, btw, if anyone has a Wegmans near them, usually you can find the butcher shop dry aged rib eyes on sale usually Monday or Tuesday as they get near their sell-by dates.
