One of my friends posted it but said under 18's aren't allowed, so the kids can beg all they want...they can't go.I pity the parents whose kids beg them to take them to this $350 per person, event . . .(Sorry, but this is a major turnoff to me on so many levels . . .)
Of course, there are plenty of adult fans as well, but I have a feeling that there will be problems associated with the marketing of this event.
Here it depends on the teacher. DS came home in tears when he was turning 5 because the teacher told them they can't bring cupcakes, so he said he didn't want to bring treats at all. I went and talked to the teacher and she said they wanted "healthy" snacks like cheese and sausages...um...HELLO SODIUM, that's not healthy, either! But she said I could bring zucchini bread, which they don't have over here and the ironic thing is that the cupcakes I would have made were better than the zucchini bread I was allowed to make. The cupcakes had the same amount of zucchini in them, but only half the sugar. Well...without frosting anyway. I guess it just has to SOUND healthy and or not have much sugar.We're not allowed to bring treats like these to our daughter's school.

They play that here on the Disney Channel pretty much every day. I saw it this morning before the kids went to school.
Oh, I would go nuts with the "commercial" rule. I love to bake and the kids love getting to make the request for what they want and mommy makes it happen. Plus, if I make it, I know what's in it!
We have no school lunch program here. But it really depends on the teacher, because the incident with my son was the same year as DD brought the cupcakes...one teacher said it was a celebration, so it was fine to do unhealthy stuff, the other said no. But her version of "Healthy" snacks wasn't healthy. I don't think chorizo has ever been considered a health food.
Sympathy like. What do you bring? "Here kids, have some carrot sticks." My son wouldn't be able to bring anything. He doesn't like fruit. There is really nothing he'd be able to bring here. We have to bring stuff without pork products in them because we have a large Muslim population.We can't bring any sweets, even if commercial. Must be healthy stuff.
I took a nice nap this morning while the kids were at school. I need to take more pain meds, but I also need to get laundry mountain sorted. What to do, what to do.
Sympathy like. Do you have any external chargers for the phones and tablets? We got some for Disney, but if you lose power, you'd at least still be able to charge your phones. Be safe!!The rain is really going along with some really loud bangs!It's going to go to go on and off until Joaquin is supposed to get here. I have enough propane and kerosene to get me through a week if needed. This is one time I'm really happy I keep certain things stocked up. I sure hope none of the supplies including glow stix and batteries won't be needed. Charging hand held video games, portable DVD players and tablets as we chat! Good luck!
If you click on the add, it's already sold out. The reason that you have to be 18 or over is because they are serving alcohol, it says. But I thought the same thing....Harry Potter is supposed to be for children...Hogwarts is a SCHOOL. It doesn't make sense to have an event like this that excludes the very people the series is meant for.Well that's a relief to parents with kiddos!! But, that aside, aren't kids also the demographic for the whole Harry Potter craze, and I would think this would be met with a healthy amount of pushback complaints.

Yes I have those ready to go to. We're not expecting the same amount of wind and what not as we got with Sandy, but we lost power for almost a week with that. Thankfully no damage. I have a friend with a whole house generator and she's an older widow and would welcome the company even if we only come over to shower. Our is only big enough to power the freezer, fridge and a couple of lights. I can make coffee on the grill and we have a camp stove.
