Honestly, I don't believe it has anything at all to do with how much time it takes. When I see other posts suddenly thinking they will now have time to steam clean every inch of the room now, I just shake my head LOL.

If you have ever seen them make one, it takes seconds - since they know what they are doing, it doesn't take much longer than folding a towel the normal way for them. I think people envision it like the first time you do origami and it takes you ten minutes to make a swan because you are reading and trying to follow unfamiliar directions, vs. once someone who really knows what they are doing they can make one in ten seconds.

Disney has "discouraged" them for awhile because people actually DO complain when they have gotten them before and don't get them this time, for whatever reason. Really, people call/write to complain about them. And since not everyone knows how to do them, or cares to do them, it creates issues. It also seems to come from folks who don't see that often there is a correlation between leaving a tip for the housekeeping staff and them appearing. :)

The worry I have is not her current position, it's the possibility that Wall Street may promote her to CEO in the future if they like her enough. We know from WDW1974 that Iger had intended former CFO Jay Rasulo to be his successor at one point, he was grooming him for the job and apparently giving him positive feedback for the BoD. So it's not exactly impossible (or even unlikely) that a CFO could be given a position of greater power.

Many moons ago my ex gf who worked at DHS was made to work after hours for Brad Pitt and he was a world class who made the CM who had to follow him just to pick up his and his party's cigarette butts job a nightmare. Cruise on the other hand was a world class nice guy who was very engaging and polite to every CM and didn't have any rule about custodial CMs not being permitted to look him in the eye. I have to take up for the little guy.

Edit: I didn't know that was a dirty word. Feel a little like George Carlin.

Noted. I will never understand complaing because you didn't get an "extra". Is it a nice touch? Yes. Will it ruin my trip if I don't get it? Definitely not.

Oh I wasn't knocking on Tom - I too have heard similarly, well, unless you are part of that organization he is a part of...LOL...he treats people very well in public. I was just teasing because DL has been much better kept and maintained than WDW in recent years - so it was a knock on WDW more than Tom. ;)

In spite of his crazy, I am a fan, I cannot lie. :)

Oh of course, but just by the fact you are literate and on a board like this I'm sure you wouldn't get it, because it is unreasonable to anyone with a brain. ;)

But I honestly have heard tell of people calling up the front desk and screaming that their kid got one the first night, or got one on the last trip, and all day was "so excited to come back to the room and see towel animals again and you ruined little Suzie and Bobbie's vacation!!!"

Basically, they get it once - and don't see it as an "extra" but "something I paid good money for!" And I always want to say...did ya not leave a couple of bucks for Mousekeeping and instead slob up the place like a college dorm room all torn up because "someone else is gonna clean up for you"?

Personally, I'd rather get a towel animal in my room than have themed napkins. I always thought the towel animals were a nice touch and something that make a stay (a bit) more special because they had an element of personalization (being made for your room). To each their own of course, but the "declining by degrees" takes different forms for different people.

I agree that it should not take the place of actually thoroughly cleaning your room, which is the priority. But I'm in the camp of "why not both" -- no reason Disney can't pay for sufficient housekeeping to properly keep the rooms clean why providing little extras like the towel animals given the revenue they make.

Anyhow, it's not a biggie to me. But I'll admit I was little sad when I saw the report that they were being done away with.

THANK YOU FOR SAYING THIS! Why is song of the south treated like "racist garbage" when films like Peter Pan and Dumbo continue to be okay, not only that they are revered and still heralded by the company. Don't get me wrong there are problematic things in song of the south and disney should do what warner brothers did if they ever re release it Acknowledge the issues, address them state how they were a product of their time. But sweeping it under the rug does nothing but try to pretend that these ugly issues never happened. It's even more staggering when you see that in comparison what is presented in Peter is far more damaging and horrible to the Native American community than what is presented in Song of the South. Yet we don't care cause Peter Pan is a "classic"? Why do Pan and Dumbo get the pass and Song of the South doesn't? If you ask me all three movies need a message like this before they play, and a dedicated extra or bonus feature that explains very much why these negative portrayals of POC in each film happened. Because as of now the only thing that I see is a company trying to look like it "cares" about racial issues in their films, when in reality it doesn't so long as the film is a certified money maker.

Sadly, the Dinoland Dance-a-Palooza dance party ended in early May. We attended the last one. I loved that little party because it was the only way to see Gypsy and Slim from A Bug's Life, and others from a group including Meeko, Brer Rabbit, Mushu, Thumper, Miss Bunny, Brer Fox. I hope those characters get reincorporated at some point.

Cali is important because it's likely the last big investment (and a very important infrastructural one) before they turn their eyes to their next big project.

Not this decade, but about ten years from now I wouldn't be surprised to see dirt start moving on that Toy Story Lot. Despite their public statements, Disney is slowly telecasting their long-term plans are simmering away on the back burner.

Maybe it isn't all that bad to let Disneyland lead by example. The success of DCA certainly factored into DHS eventually getting approved. I'll leave @ParentsOf4 to annoy Spirit with 5th gate speculation though. :D
