Me, I'm going to Universal next spring or fall. Had planned to spend a couple of days at WDW. Where, once again, I will skip going to AK.
Now if TDO built a really great Lion King attraction, complete with dark ride, in AK, I'd go visit there again. That's what it's going to take - Disney lions, not Cameron's blue kitties.
Right, as soon as Imagineering is done with a project it is handed over to park ops.Walt Disney Imagineering doesn't control Operations.
That doesn't say anything about the imagineers or how well themed Pandora will be. I'd prefer Beastly Kingdomme just like anyone else in te boards, but it's not going to stop me from actually giving Avatar a chance and experiencing what I'm sure to be a really well themed land.*coughcough*brokenyeti*cough*
im always amazed by some of these post....people have no whats in store (nor do I) for this land
do you think the boat ride will have a drop like splash?
I find it hilarious that I quoted a line from Avatar and it got deleted on an unofficial WDW website yet TDO is building a land based on this movie with, well frankly, a dirty script.
And yet people complain. I know the idea of Avatar may not thrill everyone, but it's been since Everest since Disney's even attempted anything with that demo in mind. It may turn out to be complete crap for all I know, but i'm willing to give it a chance. For as long as i've been a fan of theme parks, it's been proven time and time again that an IP doesn't need to be great to make a great attraction/land (and a great IP doesn't always make a great theme park attraction...).I don't think it matters at this point, at least they are aiming at the teenager+ crowd rather than the under 9's which quite frankly at this point that alone is rather remarkable.

I think there's too much on the line for too many people at this point for Avatar to NOT get built. Star Wars is another issue, although you would think that it would be quite the obvious decision to go forward with it. It's very much like Potter in that the only way it can fail is if Disney were to screw it up. And even then, people are still going to come out and they are still going to spend money. They are obviously moving ahead with it ... but at this point when I go into that Pandora and or stand in the centre of Star Wars Land then I will believe it. Both of those IPs lend to teenager+ crowd, that is the positive, if they get built that is another story - and we have a long way to go till that point.
I do wish people would give Pandora a chance and wait until it opens before criticizing it. That's what I did for the New Fantasyland. And yet people complain. The dystopia in this place drains me; I don't think I can take another three years of it.
I would prefer that as well but that ship has sailed. I am going to attempt to be open minded about this Avatar area as I think it could be pretty awesome if they do it right. You may be pleasantly surprised. DAK definitely needs something because, let's face it, even with the additions since opening it has never been a park most people can or want to spend an entire day in.
You have to understand that Magenta is violently opposed to anything in Disney parks that wasn't created by Disney.
Well, technically that would include himself every time he visits, wouldn't it? HEY-O!
You actually think the complaining will stop once this opens?
No, I think Magenta is the offspring of Mickey and Minnie.

The complaining will never stop because "Disney Entitlement Syndrome" is incurable.
But people could say the same thing about WWOHP. I have no desire to even pick up a Harry potter book let alone go to his world. But they are making bank. Avatar is a world wide property just like HP it will do fine.I wonder how malleable Avatarland would be in the face of people not really caring about Smurfycats? You probably could reverse engineer a fantasy setting out of the Roger Dean Ripoff Landscape, get rid of all the sci-fi elements, and there you go.
hey @danlb_2000 you think we should begin to see pemits pouring in for this?
