AVATAR breaks ground

After this I'm done. Is Pirates a C ticket? How do you know what the boat ride will be?
Oh, that's right, you don't.

Show me this Soarin' mechanism that you speak of. Oh, that's right, there isn't one to look at.

Let's. Just. Wait.
Even if we did know for sure about a Soarin' mechanism, that doesn't tell us much. After all, there are other ways to be innovative besides a ride system. I agree, I'm not passing any judgement on the land itself before I've seen it with my own eyes.

the whole park expansion is being under sold on this sight.....people keep bringing up star wars but that doesn't help DAK.....this keeps people away from magic kingdom at night

Ideally I agree with you, but there needs to be some meat to the expansion or I believe you still are going to have an issue.

Well, since the newest models and descriptions match the blueprints we saw in 2012, we do have a pretty good idea what the E-ticket mechanism will be like, and that it will be 3D. And we know what part of the boat ride will be like.
do you think the boat ride will have a drop like splash?

I imagine it will be more like Pirates/Small World - all one one level - so they don't have to impse a height restriction. The boats and path shown in the original plans were very PotC-esque. Wide boats, large show areas with winding water trough.

I'm more of the mind to give TDO a stomach ache with criticism for their released plans. It did work for the FLE where the original was cut back to meet n gropes and a watered down mermaid ride. The constant complaints made TDO put back about 60% of the original plan not that they wanted to but the constant bad press forced them to

I agree with you lol...has to have some meat to it..so hopefully Pandora, nighttime safari, and show will add another 3 or 4 hours to the park

I know the numbers in this article are estimates and aren't official, but an $800M overhaul of AK sounds pretty substantial. They did FLE for $400M, this will be double that and 75% of what they spent on the DCA makeover. I'm thinking there will probably be more than just Avland and the night show. Maybe not another E-ticket but possibly a smaller ride or 2 or another show. Now if we could just get some ground broken at DHS...

So "The Lion King" gets a dinky show and Cameron's weird flash-in-the-pan flick gets 800 million bucks worth of Animal Kingdom.

I kept hoping TDO would just wash their hands of Avatar. Lots of rights that are bought never get made into movies, after all. But NO. TDO had to keep going with this incredibly stupid idea. I don't go to Animal Kingdom anymore as it is. Avatar isn't going to change that. An immersive environment isn't going to matter if that environment is LAME to begin with. Jeez...

Would you prefer Beastly Land like originally planned? I am not being sarcastic, I am really asking.

I would prefer that as well but that ship has sailed. I am going to attempt to be open minded about this Avatar area as I think it could be pretty awesome if they do it right. You may be pleasantly surprised. DAK definitely needs something because, let's face it, even with the additions since opening it has never been a park most people can or want to spend an entire day in.

I'm avoiding it like the plague once the blue kitties infest it.

Really? That seems very narrow-minded.

Haven't seen the movie. Probably never will. But I can't wait for something, ANYTHING, to be added to DAK.

I think Cameron and Rodhe will give us something worthwhile. Very worthwhile.
Exactly. One can't have an agenda when confronting the updated AK. At least we're getting something. And for you it's even better because you haven't seen the movie. So your opinion will be solely based on your theme park experience. Can't wait till it opens.
