"The New Fantasyland" Thread Summary

Sigh....:( I remember differently, but either way, it's sad.

Either way, I doubt they'll shell out the money to clear land before this thing becomes official.

Remember the DAK plan involved a plot of land that wasn't in direct view/contact of the guests, where as Fantasyland is in the middle of the most visited theme park in the world, in one of the craziest lands.

And the Contemporary's North Garden Wing was SOOOO hidden from view... :lookaroun

If memory serves correctly, I believe BLT was MANY stories tall before Disney made *any* official announcement about it... Much more noticeable than the distant sounds of machinery coming from behind a green wall in Fantasyland would be...

In another parallel, one or two pieces of concept artwork were leaked online for a brief time, and Disney was none too happy about that either.

That plot of land was cleared back during original construction. Now, I don't know if anything was moved or not, but from what I remember it was going to happen than the freeze happened.

True and true. That's what makes DAK seem like it won't get anything and for a while. It's not visible.:(

So will the new fantasyland feature totally redone facades so they match the ones of disneyland and not the Canvas awning type facades?

That was always part of the FL makeover rumors pre-leak. Whether that fits into the purported new scheme of things I have no idea, and I'm sure no one else does either. Or if they do, they won't say it.

I reallllly hope it includes new Fantasyland facades. From what I've seen of other fantasylands and similar places, WDW would need alot of work. Hopefully it happens and makes it as convincing as other parts of the park!

Well, seeing the plans look DLP-ish...I'm hoping so. For FL East at least. West might not see too many changes.

I'm thrilled it looks like DLP...Their FL is incredible.

You're right on there, EE. I was completely blinded by WDW's MK until I came to this site and saw some of the pictures from other DL's and I was amazed and kinda let down that WDW is the only one I have visited so much. But I have a feeling if these plans go through other people in other countries and DLR may be feeling the same way I do. *crosses fingers... toes... arms... legs... eyes... etc...*

Well...Hopefully soon...:D

If they were to add some more rides to ours (in the future!) I could see us having the best FL...

Seeing as it's the most visited theme park in the solar system I would HOPE they'd have the best FL. :) But I guess it all comes down to these plans and how serious they are taking this expansion. Or if it's even happening. I know D23 people are upset but I still am keeping my excitement on hold until I hear an official statement... or five! The plans that we saw would impress me a lot and some of the "attractions" that people think are just M&G's actually could be rides if they make use of multiple floors. I think it would be smart to incorporate more rides that are based like that. It allows you to get more ride for less ground space. I mean, look how long of a ride Splash Mountain is, and excluding the drop and loop around back to the loading dock, it's not much bigger than the "Belle Attraction" building in the blueprints. So I think it is very possible for them to actually be dark rides just TALL dark rides. :veryconfu

Why the need for a new F-Land thread? I was so attatched to the old one that I was taking it to bed with me ... right alongside my Pooh plush and WDW glow toy thingee.

Now. ... I feel so torn. The old thread or the new one, which one should be worthy of my attention and love?

Oh well, I really would have loved to have been at D23 to see what's announced (not to mention catch up with a few friends) but if it's a geekfest in Anaheim or DLP ... and well, Paris ... I guess I'm gonna have to read up on the news while sipping some fine French wine and chowing down on some fresh bread and cheese.

And to those who compare what will happen at MK to DLP, I think that's a bit off. There's not nearly the amount of new attractions and the quality through and through that you have in France. And I'm reasonably sure corners will be cut too.

Hopefully, I'm wrong.
