Ahem. Now that I have your attention!
What do you say to people when they say this to you? I've run into
a bunch of folks over the years who say this.
Inevitably, what it comes down to is, they went at Christmas or Spring Break or 4th of July, and they did little to no planning.
They get overwhelmed by the crowds, they have young children that melt down and they have no contingency plan. Don't know to go to the pool in the middle of the day. I've talked to people who walked into the parks without ever even looking at a map of attractions!
Whenever someone says to me that they're going, without being rude, or "fannish", I try to give them a couple of simple tips to help make the vacation work for them.
But, for some, it's too late. They've already blown it! I feel badly for them, but whaddayagonnado?
I just ran into a family who said this to me a couple of weeks ago, and thought it might make for interesting chat here. Ah, if only we'd talked before they left.
