More bad news for Orlando

Interesting... I stayed there last March. Not the cleanest place to begin with, but the two-hour period with free cocktails was nice.

Sure, the hotel may have Legionnaire's disease, but how clean are their room glasses? That's what I really want to know

Well... with the current state that the US$ is in... how can you not!?:lookaroun
Oh tell me about it... (where`s the rubbing hands with glee smilie?)

There again we still have to pay the airfair, car, taxes and insurance in pounds sterling. Believe me, the UK is rip-off central. It does of course help we have a place to stay ;)

You can't instead book using US sources?

It bad for you guys that the economy is down the toilet at the moment but the upside is we Brits can come and spend more cash. No doubt on my 3 week trip in May I will be getting in a bit of shopping with the rate at $2 to £1. We have had loads of Orlando adverts the past few months with Disney, Seaworld/Busch & Orlando tourist office all advertising in conjunction with the holiday companies. I can see big peak in UK tourists to Orlando this year.

US travel agents generally won't book flights starting in the UK and booking direct with the airlines they charge you in £. I got a good deal on flight with US Airways but it's not direct but was only $820 each and hotels are very cheap if booking online in the UK. It gets expensive if you book a package holiday which are becoming less popular in the UK.

It is definately something we`ll be looking into since we`ll be over a lot more than every six years in the future ;) but right now we went with what we know, since we had to book separate parts on the web (in itself cheaper than walking into a travel agent) - plus we get several perks with Virgin.

And we get a great rate UK-only 14 day hopper :D

I was making the argument in another thread that, one of the reasons WDW/Orlando tourism hasn't been hit as hard by the now-announced-recession as other places or industries is the influx of foreign visitors taking advantage of the weak dollar. Yours is anecdotal evidence but still a piece o' verification.

All right, totally out there, but it just struck me: Do British keyboards have a "pound" key on it? Not #, but the currency pound.

Yes we do. Its Shift+3 to get it and our dollar is shift+4. We also have a euro sign!

<IT geek mode> There are actually quite a lot of differences between the UK and US keyboards. All these symbols (@, |, \, #, ~) are in different places and we have an AltGr to the right of the space bar instead of just an alt.</IT geek mode>

Back on topic, I stayed in the hotel next to this one in 2007. It actually looked quite nice although that could be because the one I was in was terrible

I love that 14 day hopper!

We fly with Virgin too, we get our flydrive with them as they have their own Dollar rental desk and if you can get off the plane really quickly, you can be through Customs and in your car in about 45 minutes!

Fab for the more impatient among us!
