Zootopia at Animal Kingdom?

Per Jim Hill, Disney is still looking into it. Perhaps we could see something revealed at D23 next year?
I'm probably going to say something unpopular but I think this would have made a better addition than Pandora. Added onto the animal kingdom or as part of a 5th gate that has updated Disney characters and experiences. Especially when you see that their town had different ecosystems for the animals, very interesting characters and villains and a powerful message, they could have used this as an educational tool and had fun with it.

Here are the lands we're talking about...

If Plant Watch is 11 acres, the Train is 12.5, and the unused area is 32, that's 55.5 acres that could be used for some thing else... it's nearly enough room for 4 separate lands all the same size as the new Star Wars Galaxies Edge area... so there could be a Zootopia-land, Beastly Kingdom, and a few other things in the future here

Except as has been said many times in this thread, Zootopia does not fit with the parks ethos.

They've ruined Epcot by losing sight of what the park is about, we shouldn't be encouraging them to do it another.

I wouldn't mind a Zootopia dark ride that takes you through all the anthropomorphized habitats in either DAK or DHS.

I think a full on Zootopia Land anywhere is a fools errand. Re-creating outdoors an arctic zone, a dessert zone, a miniature city for the small critters, etc... is just not workable for what is usually the size of a 'land.' You'd need a 5th gate to do Zootopia justice and it's just not worth it.

I agree with what is being said here about IP not belonging in Animal Kingdom. It should be IP free but we lost that chance with Pandora although it’s not in your face like GOTG at Epcot.

Hey, this is the company that also put Barbie in Epcot in 1993. World showcase of all places! We will lose more battles Than we will win but no matter how loud you scream here, they are going to do what they want.

Most people are not arguing that AK should be IP free. Just free of IP’s that don’t belong. The park has been home to half a dozen IP’s before Avatar even came into the picture. They’ve all just been appropriate.

I agree. I think a Zootopia dark ride would be just enough. And I hope it happens.

I heard if a Zootopia area is to happen, it would only include a city section which would have a dark ride with the ZPD Station as the façade for the showbuilding, a Judy & Nick M&G, and a fancy restaurant, then a small rainforest section with their first inverted coaster, and a tiny desert area for a quick-service restaurant.
So that would probably be... 12-13 acres at most?

I love Zootopia and think it could work but Planet Watch should still remain. Enhancements to the area would be welcomed for sure, however. I do enjoy it over at Planet Watch. Some of the surgeries are amazing.

Zootopia at least fits better than the terribly designed Dinoland.
