Year Of A Million Dreams Has Been Cancelled!!!

So, the YOAMD will only last one year and then there will be a 25th anniversary celebration for Epcot that will last 18 months? We know that the wand is coming down, and hopefully the Leave a Legacy "tomb stones" will be removed as well. And in celebration of Epcot's silver anniversary, the original pavilion logos will return?
If so, it all sounds very good. I hope they keep some aspects of the YOAMD, such as the Dream Fastpasses and awarding the castle suite.
Thanks for the hints - I have some salt handy.

Guess I should have added a "just kidding" note...
Just a little play on all the "insiders" who invariably swoop down upon threads like this leaking "info" that gives fanboys heart attacks.

I've been asking myself for weeks: How do they continue this celebration through the end of the year?

It's got nothing left to be excited about since the subs opened. Look at the wdw press page - it looks bleak. While the lanyards and mouse ears are a nice touch, they used to give away lanyards with the AAA packages.

Umm, contrary to popular beleif - no.

But, Merf, you had already had your mind made up about the promotion when it started... I seem to remember you disparaging it by remarking you don't want any free churros (which, contrary to popular (Al Lutz, being wrong again) belief) was never a prize, and was never going to be one. I further seem to remember you saying that even if you were offered a night stay in the Cinderella Castle Suite, you would heartily refuse it... That kind of predisposed negative mindset has most likely ruined you for ANY prizes you may have received. But try looking at it from the "I'm having a good time on a family vacation with my kids" mindset, and the positive feelings start flowing through

I won my ears while on a tour at Disneyland, i was more excited about getting to see Club 33. The lanyard came from my other half who won it after riding Maelstrom. It's never been taken out of the plastic package and i enjoyed my cinnamon bun i got at the kringla much more.

As weird as you may think i am - i'm not the only one. Other folks on the DL-tour wouldn't even put the ears on. I wore mine around the park all day.

While youre defending the question as to "Whether Merf has a life," you misspelled "belief." As in "It's a common belief that Merf posts so much, he has no life." :veryconfu

Or.... "It's a common belief that no woman would ever touch Merf. :snore:

... Or even "Many posters hold the similar belief that Merf is infact a former banned member called RobFL."

... Dont forget kids, the Midnight show is different from the 11PM one. Tip your waitresses. :D  :ROFLOL: :drevil:

I'd love to see the Dream Squad handing out hammers. "Yeah we need 6 mallets for the Johnson family from Tupelo, MS over here pronto. Over"

:D :D :D

Don't forget the Disney Pass photographers using burst mode to capture all the dreamage ;) Of course you don't get any free photos but you get to keep the memories, and rip them from the card. lol

As i said, I have a feeling most of the "smaller" prizes will remain at WDW and DLR such as FPs and commemorative photo, but the larger ones such as free rooms and stay in castle probably will not continue.

This is very interesting. I don't know why anyone would have a problem with the promotion, but I also don't know why it would get anyone in the parks either. It's just sort of "there".

It does seem kinda odd that this rumor starts just a small period of time after the wand removal is officially announced, where in the Sentinal article the Epcot 25th is mentioned. It almost seems fishy. Maybe SDav10495 is on to something here. ;)

Seriously though, I'm sure if this rumor is true that it has NOTHING to do with Epcot, but it would be easy to try and make a connection there.

I just looked at Miceage. This is what is on the front page of Miceage right now:

"Lucky us! Breaking news: The "Where Dreams Come True" decor (flags, banners) will begin to be removed from Disneyland beginning this week. Consider it a early Anniversary present from Mr. Lasseter. More to come later after 7/11. -Al Lutz"

That's different than YOMD being cancelled. YOMD is an ad campaign and sweepstakes. The "Where Dreams Come True" was the thing that launched the whole Disney Parks mess.

It sounds to me like they are pulling away from "Where Dreams Come True" and hopefully going back to The Happiest Place On Earth. And this was only mentioned for Disneyland, not WDW.

Is this a WDW decision too, or is this just for Disneyland and the more well known Happiest Place On Earth tagline and campaign?

Well, just so you know, people were developing plans to celebrate Epcot's 25th...about 2 years ago. Obviously, the celebration didn't happen. The plan was to go retro; that's why all the retro merchandise came out recently.

That jives with whats been said multiple times with WDW going back to 'The Vacation Kingdom of the World' as its tagline.

'Where Dreams Come True' was around WAY before YOAMD, and will be around long after. Maybe it will just not be as prominent.

Well whatever and wherever it is, it seems someone...somewhere...has realized how wrong the recent "Disney Parks" lumping has been.
