Year Of A Million Dreams Has Been Cancelled!!!

Well I think the Where Dreams Come True clutter here in FL is probably gonna get tossed out a little sooner than expected, but everything else is going to plan. Or rather, everything else is going to plan that didn't involve a "wildly successful" marketing campaign being extended. It's dying a peaceful death and that is that.

Now the ramifications of Disney Parks getting shoved out the door, that's the stuff of mega-threads. Mr. Rasulo got dealt a HUGE blow tonight. With almost all of his supporters backing off and seeing the writing on the wall, the really juicy rumors will probably be FLYING tomorrow morning. Too many people hate him now and Bob Iger knows that if he really wants to concentrate on TV networks he needs someone competent in charge of the parks division. I can't wait to see what hits this message board in the coming weeks!

Disney publicly admitted they pay companies to watch websites for them and to present the research data to them.

This actually is true. They have a department dedicated to research from sites like this both for guest response things as well as just to verify no information that isn't supposed to be coming out is being leaked.

Returning the parks to their previous slogans is simply a subtle way of saying, "We recognize that the two resorts are different, and we aren't going to try to make everything a spreadsheet vision of post-modernism."

Thank you. I didn't hate "Disney Parks" at all, but after experiencing Disneyland for the first time last week, I think it's just poor marketing to try and not celebrate the differences of each resort.

^^ And that's the info I'm trying to find out...without being obvious...

Ok.. i'm just going to ignore certain people - but the folks i trust are saying that DL's YOMD's decor is being "replaced" and they don't know what the story is for WDW.

So, yes, YOMD's stuff is being chucked into the trash at DL.

I don't think YOMD is being replaced. It's the WDCT brand that's being replaced. At least that's what I get from what I've read on this on several sites in the last 20 minutes.

YOMD = Year Of A Million Dreams
WDCT = Where Dreams Come True

Two separate things. WDCT was the big, global brand umbrella that represents all "Disney Parks", which was also a new brand. YOMD was an marketing promotion and sweepstakes that helped kick off the WDCT global branding initiative.

It's a subtle difference, but the difference is there. Two separate branded campaigns at work here, yet tied together. And it looks like they are backing away from the global brand at least for Disneyland. Besides, Disneyland isn't Where Dreams Come True. Disneyland is The Happiest Place On Earth. That was just confusing to people who had been using The Happiest Place On Earth tagline since the 1950's.

So.. if we kill the WDCT demon by cutting of its head in Anaheim - there's hope for Epcot's 25th? The strongest reason for not having it was that it went against WDCT.

Agreed, and that makes Walt Disney World either
A:The Most Magical Place on Earth
B: The Vacation Kingdom

So is the WDCT/YOMD decor at DL going to be replaced with the Happiest Place on Earth stuff?

I remember reading a while ago (I don't remember where or when...) that the "Where Dreams Come True" stuff had to be changed due to legal trouble over the phrase. Someone else already used it or something like that...

Could anyone shed light on this? I could be flat out wrong.

I could, but no one really wants to hear that story, it has adult content

I prefer option B, because it best encompasses everything one can do here.

Examples:

The most magical golfing on earth.
The most magical massage on earth.
The most magical shopping on earth.
The most magical dining on earth.
The most magical fireworks on earth.
The most magical laundromat on earth.

OR

The vacation kingdom.

How about this way...

Walt Disney World is the Vacation Kingdom
Magic Kingdom is the Most Magical Place on Earth?

Hoo-ray for re-rebranding

Its not just 'the Vacation Kingdom'. Its 'The Vacation Kingdom of the World'. Those three little words make it MUCH more grand.
