XM & Sirius Merge

The only reason I'd buy any satellite radio would be for the comedy stations. I don't even listen to terrestrial radio as it is.

$20? No deal.

As long as they don't mess much with the Sirius programming and channel lineup, I have no problem with this at all. The things I would want from XM would be the Cinemagic station, their true 90's station and the ACC/Big 10 football games.

What difference does it make? All he said was that if he wanted better songs, he'd record a CD or use his iPod in the car. Even if you swear by XM, there's no arguing that you can literally put anything you want music-wise on an iPod.

Why is this an argument?

So... fine... then let the haters go start a "I Love Free FM /and or my ipod" thread. Not come in and troll here and try to knock SatRadio.

I wonder what's going to happen with Howie.

Will everybody have access to O&A and Stern?

Nope.... Mel said this morn that folks will have to pay for Howie and or O&A.

I dunno the logistics... still trying to find out.

I dont think Howie and O&A are gonna be on the same al la carte package as each other.

I love Cinemagic! Hmmm I might be interested in the Hair Band Channel that Sirius has... that would be cool. But I def want Margaritaville! :sohappy:

So you actually don't know what it is to have XM... in your car... :D

I could care less. Besides, the songs I really like of the bands I listen to are not played on the radio... XM, Sirius, or otherwise.

I'm quite happy with an MP3 player and a cd player, thank you.

My brother didn't believe in satellite radio at first.

Then he bought a car with Sirius standard and 1 year free.

Now he has an XM unit in his other car, and one of each at home, plus online listening accounts.

I think Sirius really has XM beat in the music department and I think you'll enjoy those stations. I usually listen to The Big 80's (which is phenomenal), Hip Hop Nation, The Pulse (which isn't as good as XM's pure 90's station), the new Lithium 24 which is a 90's alternative station, Octane (Hard Rock station), and Super Shuffle which plays a little of everything.

Hair Nation is a good station though and I wouldn't be able to tell you anything about Magaritaville.

I really wish Sirius had something to compare with Cinemagic, which I thought was easily XM's best produced station. The song selection and the clips between are fantastic.

It will be interesting to see how they do all of this when they do merge.

With your first comment... I agree... to a point. But,... then you have to admit that XM is far superior on the Tech side than Sirius. Better gadgets.... etc.

I have always believed that Sirius had some better content.... but XM led the pack when it came to technology and innovation.

That's true, and was very lopsidedly true until last year. Sirius finally came out with a live portable radio and I'm extremely happy with my Sportster 4, which I think is one of the best radios out for either company.

Sirius has much better music song selection and radio stations, IMO, which the couple of minor exceptions I've already mentioned. And for me, Sirius has the big 3 when it comes to sports: SEC Football, NBA, and NFL.

When I first looked into satellite radio a few years ago, XM's units looked far superior to Sirius's clunky large units. Even today, I think XM has the edge in equipment. As far as the programming goes, I don't know who is better.

I am happy with XM's music selection, but probably could be just as happy with Sirius's music selection. O&A and Howard are non-factors. I do foresee O&A and Howard becoming premium stations, should the merger go through with a separate fee for listening to each of them. So what we would have is "basic satellite" and then just like HBO, SHO, STARZ, etc. extra fees for bonuses.

That would be fine with me as well. The only "talk" radio I would listen to would be a Sports station or just ESPN Radio.
