I don't eat out much because honestly I cook better food than I get eating out. But when I do, I double my tax with come out to 20% most of the time.
Personally I find tipping to be ridiculous. If I order tea with a ham and cheese croissant for $15, a server takes the order, puts the order in, then bring it to me when its ready their expected tip is $3.
If I order the rib-eye with a glass of red wine for $60, same taking the order, same bringing me when ready and the expected tip is $12. A 300% increase for the same conversation, same steps, same everything.
I just find it to be a silly system.
