Soarin Around the World took everything about the California edition and broke it over its knee.

1. CGI. CGI everywhere. Fake whales fake boat rowers, fake kites, fake elephants, fake Taj Mahal in its entirety and the list goes on.
2. The score probably needed to change somewhat to suit the ride better but it's not as charming as the original one
3. The transitions are actually quite frightening at some points. The ones with clouds are fine but.. who's idea was it to fly an AIRPLANE at guests??? It's like some idiot imagineer in the production said "hey that golf ball scene in Soarin Over California? Let's put that at the end of every scene!" Due to this, cast members tell me that there are little kids who are now actually afraid of the ride.
4. The ride itself bites off far more than it can chew. In a period of 5 minutes, you could cover most of California. The scenes in Soarin Around The World are not very cohesive simply because the world is too large. This problem could've been solved by adopting the technology of Star Tours - The Adventure Continues.
5. It's out of place in California Adventure. The reason I feel the need to bring this up is the fact that everybody makes the argument that the new version needed to be created for Shanghai (and soon Tokyo as well) because they wouldn't really recognize any of the places in California and that the new version fits the worldly theme of EPCOT better. While this is true, when one makes that argument, they immediately need to address the fact that it took an equally large and awkward step backwards with theming in California Adventure.
6. Oh I almost forgot. How could anyone forget the distortion for 67% of the seats?

So in conclusion, it's not relaxing, immersive or cohesive. I know I may be overdramatic about this but some imagineers should've lost their jobs over the final product. I'd barely consider it a good ride at this point.

ps. I miss the smell of the oranges.

I agree with every word you wrote. Beautifully said. How a #1 favorite ride can fall so tragically is heartbreaking. They ripped the soul out of the ride....

Agreeing with others, I voted for DHS, but once SW and Mickey open, and they update the stage shows, it could easily be #2 on my list behind the MK making Ak and Epcot fight for last (love both but they both need a few more rides). Still a day at Disney is never wasted...

Many people would put MK as worst if they are rating on the total happiness/comfort feeling. Once you are in or on an attraction you're happy and feel fine, but getting through the crowds, waiting in line, navigating ECVs and strollers along narrow walkways, etc can quickly make you feel unhappy and stressed.

I know way back when (my 35 yo daughter was still stroller age), before they overbuilt things at Epcot, and after several hours in the crowded MK, it was a relief to be able to move freely around Epcot.

I suppose it depends on the parameters we use to rate the parks which are, of course, subjective.

When you're the leader, you don't have to follow.
There’s no “worst”, they’re all bloody marvellous!

Over the course of our annual ten day trip though, we spend by far the least amount of time at AK. Doesn’t make it the worst, just makes it the least appealing to us.

Ah yes, the crowds can be a monster at MK.....but you take away that factor? And hands down its the very best imho. Luckily I have only had one of many trips where I felt shoulder to shoulder crowds....otherwise we know how to navigate things and crowds or not, I still love being there the most. I love being able to visit the other parks, but most days I yearn to be at the MK, and our first and last days always are there..... I really hope that increased new development of the other parks helps distribute the flow better. That and when I had the old paper fastpasses, I felt more at ease with crowds period.

There is only 1 reason Epcot is my least favorite right now, which hopefully will change. The access to World Showcase is either a long walk from the parking lot, a couple bus rides, or an Uber trip. With a kid just wanting to visit the countries it is a long way.

Personally I don't think any park is the "worst" but AK is the one I frequent the least. I can't even really say why, it's a beautiful park, just not my cup of tea I guess. I love the classic rides at MK, the theme of Epcot, and the walk to ToT at DHS. It's so weird because I am a HUGE animal person, it's just not my favorite.

I had to go with MK, which pains me because it has the most to do, but the last several years have enjoyed it less and less. We still go there of course and do fun things, but it's gotten almost unenjoyable at times. If it's not the multitude of strollers, emvs, people stepping in front of you for their castle photo, etc then it's the madness that is nighttime fireworks. The other parks have crowds, but I don't feel as nauseated at them as MK.
AK is my favorite, and while HS and Epcot have their flaws, I still love just walking around both those parks. I get vibes there I don't get at MK along with a few out of the way places I can go at both parks and relax and enjoy my time.

I think growing up going to DL where the walkways are truly claustrophobic sardine cans, some queues feel like cattle chutes, where paths trail off into complete bottlenecks, as well as roadblocked areas you can't even pass even on barely crowded days; the Magic Kingdom by contrast feels like a vast wide open space to me even in big crowds. As wonderful as DL is, one of its biggest and most glaring negatives is that it is just way too small, much too narrow and confined and a total mess and clusterkuff when the park is just barely halfway full.

---------------------------

Another way for me to personally gauge which parks are my fav is to glance at my plans for my vacations. This year I have 14 days at DW and am only visiting the Studios 3 times! Meanwhile, Animal Kingdom gets 5 visits, the Magic Kingdom gets 9 and Epcot gets a whopping 10 visits from me. BTW, I split my days into half days at 2 parks accept for the very last day - so that's why those visits don't add up to 14 lol

Since I love stats and numbers so much, right now according to the polls, here are the parks' approval ratings (I didn't include the undecided votes to the count)

14 votes - Magic Kingdom (90.5% approval rating)
16 votes - Animal Kingdom (89.2% approval rating)
27 votes - EPCOT Center (81.8% approval rating)
91 votes - Hollywood Studios (38.5% approval rating)

Ouchieee!!! The Studios are definitely most people's least favorite by a huge margin.

I'm still in the can't decide catagory, so that means I'm 100% approval rating?

I would to see a version of this to see how people would rank every disney park ever, now I think about it. But there's no suitable forum for that idea. And I'm pretty sure everyone would agree disney studios in paris is the worst.

I'd be very curious to see how voting compares 10-15 years from now.

Once again, I wouldn't assume me voting for EPCOT means there isn't problems with the other parks. And.. I happen to find nearly everything wrong with EPCOT so I can't speak for this category but there's probably plenty of people who don't necessarily 'disapprove' of another park. The tricky thing about statistics is that they are the answer ONLY to the question being asked and it is specific to the question down to the very word. It is known that rephrasing a question can provide a completely different answer. For example, had I used the word "least favorite," perhaps less people may have voted for Hollywood Studios and more may have voted for Magic Kingdom because worst and least favorite, while perhaps being viewed in a similar light, mean two precise different things.

Any of them that has a crowd over the comfortable level...

I mean that honestly. Crowds are everything now. No park can be judge “good” or “bad” without that being considered
