That's why we have zoos. Before Pandora you had expedition Everest (which I love and could ride for hours) the rapids, and dinosaur. Nothing else appealed to me and the latter of the two weren't awe inspiring. And its so disconnected travel wise from the other three. Once again its all opinion. Epcot is my favorite after MK.

Zoos represent only zoology, not ecology and they do not as effectively show ecology and serparate habitats within an area. The safari displays both zoology and ecology more effectively than anything at any zoo. And I have done my fair share of zoos, I think. Also, there are elements of DAK that are of a zoo but not only are they done better than a zoo does them, the animal exhibits are a really phenomenal part of the park, I love them (the trails, the safari really isn't very zoo-like).

Furthermore, I think that if the safari doesn't appeal to you as the main attraction of the park, then DAK may not be for you. It's certainly a feat for WDW and vision of Walt himself, but at the end of the day, different strokes for different folks :).

In theory its what he wanted jungle cruise to be, but technology wasn't there.

Yep, it was. Walt Disney loved wildlife and nature, early on he did a lot of documentaries and he truly understood why nature is so incredibly important, which is what inspired films like Bambi that celebrate its wonder. Adventureland was originally dedicated to "nature's wonder," I believe is how it was phrased ;)
