It's so unfair!! Why do guys have it so much easier than we do, but we're the ones expected to stay thin, etc?
I know! I work my butt off, eat healthy (I mean, avocado toast is getting really old) and that's just to fit on rollercoasters and maintain my body. My brother goes for walks and eats what he wants, and he's still thinner than me. Not fair.

Good morning,

My calf appears to be healed now. I did test out the insoles and so far so good. I ordered another pair off of Amazon. I paid to overnight them because that was still cheaper than getting them from Walgreens. I leave for a short WDW trip Wednesday. Very short for me; I come back the following Monday and I have to work remotely a day down there. Oh well; I'm going to Epcot in the evening.

My longtime bestie is getting married in October. It's a small wedding (my parents, brother, and I are the only non-family invited) so at the very least, I'll be in the wedding photos, so I need to get in shape before then. No more injuries!

Happy Monday. I've had a series of break days due to traveling for softball. I thought about using the hotel gym, but there was just no time. It's been a frustrating few days...

1. About 25 miles from home, I hit some road debris and wound up with a flat on the new vehicle. We tried using the vehicle's jack while we waited on AAA, but it's not well designed for unpredictable emergency settings and wound up slipping. Thankfully, none of us were hurt. A kind stranger with a hydraulic jack stopped to help, but this vehicle only has a donut spare, so we had to drive home on the highway at low speed and swap out vehicles. We were running close to 3 hours behind.
2. I found out this morning that the 1000 or so ft I drove on the flat to get to a safe spot destroyed the tire. I guess because they are sport tires, they are particularly sensitive? I may find myself replacing all 4 for something more rugged if this becomes an issue.
3. The replacement tire isn't in stock anywhere, so I have to drive at least 1 more day on a spare and pray I don't do any damage.
4. I got a call from the local VW dealership today telling me my vehicle is ready. Ummmm...the same vehicle that was repurchased under lemon laws. So, after 3 months in the shop, it's now supposedly fixed and they were willing to just let me drive off in it. Talk about poor records and communication.

With the heavy rain and storms coming through, I think I'm probably going to wait to try and get back into it. We just had to delay picking the older one up at school because of street flooding.

When it rains it pours! And how can a jack not be be designed for unpredictable settings? Isn't that kind of what the jack is for? You never know when you'll get a flat. I once bought new tires and drove over a nail literally the next day and had to replace the brand new tire. And I've had to change a tire in -20 degree weather and snow while on my way to see my mom in the hospital. You just don't know when it's going to happen, so the equipment needs to be reliable!
I'm sorry you're having a bad week!

How often do you all take rest days? I've been making sure I get at least 10,000 steps in each day. I missed one day a couple of weeks ago when the weather was really really bad and I couldn't get out. (Thunderstorms, hail, heavy rains and wind) But I cleaned up the living room so I could move the coffee table out of the way and do some stuff inside, because the weekend was supposed to be thunderstormy again. On Sunday, it was supposed to be really bad, so I did a 3 mile LS cardio walk, then a 20 minute zumba thing (I had to majorly modify that one and I don't think I'll do it again because it really hurt my knees and hips) and then another 2 mile LS walk and still wasn't at my 10,000 steps. I did get them in later when there was a break in the weather and I walked to get groceries. But I woke up pretty sore....I think I pulled a muscle in my pelvic region with that stupid Zumba thing...it doesn't feel like just standard muscle pain. Anyway, my fitness tracker has a function where it keeps track of your record and tells you how you are doing in relation to others using the same tracker. I had a 7 day streak and it said 99% of users were ahead of me. 2 days later, it said only 2% of users were ahead of me. Now I'm at 12 days and it still says 2% are ahead of me. Should I be taking a rest day every week? After another night of rest, the muscle strain feels a lot better. On the one hand, I want to lose the weight and be healthy, so I wan't to keep going. On the other hand, I don't want to injure myself....that's what happened with the bursitis in my hip. I did a workout every day and overworked that hip joint and injured it and it hasn't been the same since. I have noticed it's not as bad lately and I'm trying to build up my stamina and walk longer and faster, but I'm wondering if I'm doing the right thing.

At least two rest days a week. I also don't do the same thing everyday. So if I do my elliptical one day, I do strength training, walk, or take a rest day the next day. Walking is pretty much the only thing I would do every day. Rule of thumb is that if it hurts, it's time to rest. Overworking just means you'll either injure yourself or burnout.

So like this week, I went to Hershey on Sunday, which I count as a workout because I do 20k+ steps and it's a lot of hills. Then I took yesterday off, then did my elliptical this morning. If I weren't going to Disney tomorrow, I'd do strength training tomorrow, then back on the elliptical Thursday, then either strength training or a rest day on Friday, then depending on whether I'd be going to Hershey, a rest day/Hershey on the weekend, or strength training. And actually, that schedule would be under normal circumstances; I just got over an injury, so I'm getting back to it, which means even more rest days is better.

When you're on a rest day, just make sure you're being extra vigilant with your diet on those days. Of course it's important everyday, but especially on rest days.

Good morning,

I took the parents and the brother to the airport, so I came home and did my workout before work. Without eating. In my case, not a great idea because I have hypoglycemia without diabetes (which is frickin' frustrating when you're trying to lose weight and your blood sugar's like, "I shall randomly drop now"). I stopped partway through, ate a handful of jellybeans (I keep them around for that purpose) and kept going. When I used to go to the gym in the mornings, I grabbed a Gatorade for that reason. Gotta remember that if I start exercising in the morning.

I can be added to the last minute packing club. I leave tomorrow for WDW and did all my packing yesterday. My thought process went, "short trip, no need to pack early". I got it all done in a frenzy; I have a few things left to throw in, but I can otherwise relax tonight.

I usually take 1-2 per week. I also make sure I try and change some things up...even if it looks like I'm doing the same stuff...just so I can reduce injury issues.

I'm just going to buy a small hydraulic and be thankful it wasn't worse with this piece of junk. I had a couple of people in my Palisade group defend the jack...saying it's been great for at home tire rotation and oil changes. That's great and all, but those are controlled conditions. I was on an offramp of a highway on hot asphalt on a bit of an incline. My husband has changed many tires in his lifetime and never before has he had one start to sink into asphalt nor has he ever had a vehicle slip like this before. It's just not well designed for emergency settings.

That depends what I'm doing. Right now I'm doing a 30 day 2 practices a day but it's designed in such a way that it works different parts of the body for the most part and am supplementing with LS/walking and yard work/gardening. If I'm "training" for a long trip generally 6 days a week of major walking mixed with weights and yoga. Right now I'm still being a bit careful with my ankles and feet but building up gradually. edit today yoga, trip to the garden center, planting and cooking. It's crazy how many steps I can get in doing a cooking meals ahead day

I really need to get back on track, but I've had 0 motivation this week. Due to weather, we have free weekend coming up. If the rain continues, I don't see walking or anything like that, but this house could use a heavy duty cleaning along with some bagging of stuff for donation. I may also tackle the roof rails again if conditions aren't too bad. So, that's something. Still, it's been raining here since Sunday. We had some street flooding on Monday and Tuesday, but luckily, nothing too bad. I was wondering if this low was going to move into the Gulf and become a depression or named storm...and it's sounding like there's a strong possibility of that happening. Hopefully it'll let up enough for me to bring one of the computers in for repair. My employer shifted me from my personal system to a whole set up provided by them. So, I let my older one take sole ownership of the laptop and gave my younger one my desktop with the dual screens. I warned her it was not a gaming computer, but I think she overloaded it and now it's not responding. Great. Less than a week and it's already a an issue.

On a positive note, while I accidentally set my alerts for PM instead of AM, I somehow remembered that I needed to try and book road access for Glacier's Going-To-The-Sun-Road today. I guess it has been a real traffic issue, so now they are selling separate tickets to access this part of the park. They've been selling out every day, so it was vital that I book this as quickly as possible. I was over an hour behind the window opening, but I managed to get us a ticket. So, very excited about that :)

I took the entire weekend off. I woke up with a fever on Saturday and spent most of the day in bed. Just the fever and a slightly swollen lymph gland but I was wiped out. Yesterday I was much better but not up to doing much as in bed didn't involve much sleep. Today I'm back to feeling much better:inlove: I got my steps and a practice in:joyfull:

We had a weekend off from softball (well, family softball), so I had the a bunch of the regional NCAA softball games going on in the background while I tackled this house. Obviously, an unconventional workout, but I was dripping in sweat for hours both days and lots of sore muscles as well. I took mini 5 min breaks here and there, but on Saturday, I worked from 9am to 9pm...minus stopping for lunch and dinner. Yesterday, it was about 10am to 7pm. I'm not sure what I'm going to do today, as I've cleaned 99% of everything that needs cleaning for now, I have to run an errand at lunch, the younger one has an awards ceremony this evening, and with all of the rain we've been having...I'm once again having to postpone tackling the roof rail installation on the new vehicle. I have at least done some arm work this morning. Nothing major, but trying to get myself moving.

Not as active as the weekend, but tried to move more yesterday. I took some additional breaks from my desk for more arm work, some sets of plies and a longer round on the twist plate. I worked on a few small projects in some downtime to get the blood flowing...got a small rack put up in my office and hung up a combo of things like workout bands and Disney hats. Also got this little intricate sun mirror up in the guest bedroom along with a little bit of stretching. After the awards ceremony, I biked for about 45 minutes. Not the same intensity as I normally bring, but a little over 13.5 miles...so it's something. We've got more rain on the way today (10 straight days of the stuff), so probably won't be getting the roof rails on the car today either. We got somewhere between 6-7" yesterday and there was a lot of street flooding in the area, so just not messing with work on a ladder when it's this wet. Thursday is the only day that currently doesn't have measurable rain in the forecast. So...maybe Thursday! At least this is the last week of school, so some things should calm down a little.
