Hello-

I went for a walk and I did a kettlebell workout I found on YouTube. It was pretty good. I told my NP I was having a hard time sleeping and she told me to try this supplement. I looked at it and it was $50 for 90 capsules. Not exactly cheap, but I justified it by thinking it was a 90 supply. I received it and a single dosage is 3 capsules. Nope. Not buying this again. I did find the active ingredient (magnesium L threonate), because I felt like I have been getting really good sleep and I found cheaper options. It's marketed as one of those "brain boost" supplements, but I just want the sleep. lol

Hello-

Checking in with a quick and sweaty workout. It was just under 30 minutes. It's from a program called "Summer Shred." Is is too early to start thinking about Summer? For me, no. For now, I am just happy we've made it through the 10 weeks of the shortest days of sunlight. I love that I am cooking dinner and it's not pitch black outside. I am going to get out for a walk, too. It's very sunny and it's going to be 50, which is much better than the 20s we had this time last week.

The person who is going to head the OPM said he wants to "traumatize" federal workers. He has said he wants them to feel like they don't want to go into work in the morning because they feel increasingly villainized. This is from a self-professed Christian. I don't think people realize people work hybrid so the government saves money on renting space. A lot of government workers do not work in DC nor do they work in government-owned facilities. People are trying to figure out where everyone will sit. It's not a matter of laziness, there are not enough workstations. There is a subreddit that's for feds and it's recently become a target for angry people who think feds are lazy. This one guy said you all need to be fired because I don't rely on any government services. Wow. Think again. Do you get mail? Do you drive on roads? Do you drink water? Do you keep money in the bank? People don't understand this is large scale, constructive dismissal; so donors can put their bids in for AI services and H1B visa workers.

Most of corporate America had at least some kind of hybrid schedule pre-pandemic. It didn't become an issue until a certain segment that cannot work from home got jealous of those with fully remote or hybrid options. The US government, just like corporate America, realized how much money they could save by embracing remote work. I've encountered people online and in person who believe this garbage that remote/hybrid workers are lazy and just coasting by doing nothing at home. None of it is fact...it's just ignorance and jealousy being egged on by certain people. I also don't understand why some people need to vilify those in these positions at risk of being cut. Like everything else in life, there are always going to be those people who don't understand or care about impacts until it comes for their livelihoods and slaps them in the face.

I've been struggling to workout, too. I have been trying to find a type of workout to hook into.

Where are you thinking of going for vacation?

I'm still really trying to stay on top of it. I'm far enough in that it's a habit, but it's becoming such a craving that it's messing with other parts of life.

It's not so much vacation as it is a matter of where softball is taking us this year. Sam's first two are local, which is nice, but after that it gets more and more crazy. First travel tournament is 4-5 days in Oklahoma, then we have two back to back in Colorado that makes up nearly 2 weeks, then she was invited to something in Chicago so she's going to be flying to Chicago as soon as Colorado is over, then she has a tournament in the Atlanta area the day after that ends so she'll be flying to GA, I will be driving home from CO and then driving to GA just so I can get some work in, and then after a short break it's off to CA for nearly two weeks. She may even have some camps we need to do after that, but we'll figure it out... I HOPE!

Still on track with workouts. Yesterday, I walked during lunch (about 2.5 miles) and then biked a little over 18 (all time high for this time span). I was short on time afterwards, but still got in a little bit of arms, abs, and barre stuff for legs. Today, I decided to sleep in and walk again during lunch. David had to go into the office and I have crazy fear of being stranded when nobody is home, so I walked on the walking pad for about 30 minutes. It was only a hair over 1.5 miles, but it's something. I'll be biking and doing other work tonight. I did at least figure out that I can get in my main workout just after work on days when Sam has home games. Away games are likely going to mean I need to do some stuff before work and do the biking and the rest during lunch if it's a Tuesday game. I get out a little early on Fridays, so I may still be able to do it right after work for Friday games. I just want a plan so that I can keep this going. It's going to be a long haul to get back to a healthy state, but I am seeing differences. Oh, I also tried the walking pad and typing today...yeah, I don't possess that kind of coordination. I know I tried on and off last year, but today officially sealed that I can't safely do it. So, I'm just going to stand on and off throughout the day and know that the pad is handy on days like today where I want to walk but don't want to venture outside.

Also putting it out in the universe for everyone to wish K good luck! She had a job interview today and I really hope she gets it. She's had some rejections lately that have her feeling blue, but I think she's a shoe in for this one and it should make her happier than her last job. She should know by Monday.

That's a lot of traveling! Does she graduate this year? Hopefully all of this hard work will culminate in a scholarship.

What type(s) of job is K applying for? At any rate, I wish her luck. I know it can be demoralizing when you've been rejected. BTDT. I hope this one comes through for her. ✨

Hello-

I did an hour of yoga. I have been wanting to do yoga, but I am still very congested and you're supposed to breathe through your nose when you do yoga. It was a struggle to breathe through my nose here and there. I am beginning to think this upper respiratory virus has caused a sinus infection. I am going to wait a few days and treat the symptoms before I call my doctor. I don't know if it's bacterial or viral, so I want to give it some time to resolve itself before I ask for antibiotics. I just have cheek/upper teeth pain, post-nasal drip, and sinus congestion.

Happy Friday! 🎉

I did a cardio yoga practice today. It was a little tough on the shoulders. I need to do more yoga, my muscles have gotten so tight.

Here it is, if anyone is interested in yoga class.

I think the congestion is slowly improving. It was nowhere near as bothersome as it was yesterday when I did yoga.

I hope everyone has a relaxing weekend. 🌺

Hello-

Just checking in with a yoga practice. I have an app for yoga that lets you customize the practice you want to do. You can select the length, the level, how fast, the type of music, etc and it generates a practice for you. I started doing it but it just didn't flow for me, so I stopped and did a 45 min class from YouTube instead. I liked that class better. :)

My Irish passport finally arrived with all of my documents. I am just glad someone didn't intercept my documents to steal me identity to open credit card accounts and whatnot. I was worried someone saw the address and knew what was in the envelope, but it was just super-slow mail service. Phew.

Nope! She is a sophomore. Her recruiting window opens on September 1 of this year, so all of this travel and exposure is going towards that big push for eligibility opening up. While she's a great player and a really smart kid, I suspect it's going to take a while. We shall see. Softball is known as an equivalency sport, meaning it's highly unlikely she'll see a full athletic scholarship. It will likely be a blend that incorporates merit aid, but that's why athletes with high ranking academics are very desirable.

I don't know what made me think your girls were closer in age. I googled "equivalency sport" because I wanted to know a little more. I had no idea there was a difference in types of "sports" w/r/t scholarships. Like, I didn't know that people who play high-profile sports at high profile school that bring in substantial revenue are "head count" and more likely to get the whole enchilada in a scholarship, vs equivalency where the coach is allocated the monies and apportions it to the athletes how they see fit.

Hello-

I did an hour of yoga this morning and I went out for a walk. It's pretty mild and sunny outside, so it was good to be outdoors. My sinuses are still bothering me, but I think it's just the ideal weather for them to become an issue. I don't feel sick, I have a lot of sinus pressure in my cheek/upper teeth. I just take ibuprofen for that. I feel fine otherwise, no fever, or fatigue. I need to move somewhere drier. 🏜️ lol

Happy Monday!

Yesterday was a break day, but I finished up week 7 of "get back on track" on Saturday. I went for a 6 mile walk, followed up with a 10 mile bike ride, and then did a blend of arms, legs, and abs...changing it up with some movements, types of weights, etc. I was hoping to get up a bit early and walk this morning, but my tummy had other plans. It was nearly 1:30am when I finally was able to fall asleep. I am skipping a regular lunch and taking Sam in for some PT, but I'm hoping to get in a walk after work and bike/lift tonight. I'm definitely seeing some positive changes, but it's hard taking it slow when I know so many people taking one of the shots. Of course, they are forever tethered to the shots if they want to keep those results. A friend and I were also discussing it on Saturday and talking about how age factors into trying to bounce back.

Other than that, as I posted above, K got the job so that was great news. Sam also had a great weekend. She's a member of HOSA at her school (future health professionals). Back in the fall, she tested and qualified for the area level competition. Area was this weekend. She went in ranked in 6th place, wasn't overly confident with her performance on Friday, but was awarded 1st on Saturday. She'll be heading to state later on in the spring. Also kind of fun...the birds are back. I noticed the start of a nest on Friday...along with a bunch of birds screeching at me. I put a camera up over the weekend and this is what we got from them yesterday. I'm debating about moving the device back because it's a little dark and blurry, but it's fun to have them back. I had thought about doing compilation videos each day, but they've been by the next nearly 60x today and I just have no desire to do that level of recording and blending on a daily basis.

Hello-

Checking in with a 60 min cardio yoga class.

The orange cat was back last night. He was eating Callie's food that I accidentally left out. When it's warm, she likes to eat her meals outside. I put her dinner out and I got caught up in other stuff. She never finishes what I give her and I forgot to bring it back in. He was scarfing up her food and he must have been hungry, because he usually takes off when he sees a human. Instead, he was watching us while he ate to make sure we weren't going to approach him. Callie's dish is right in front her house, so she was watching him eat her food from her house. OMG, the angry faces she was making! She was narrowing her eyes and her ears were back. I let him eat because he is so skinny and his belly is concave. I noticed neither of his ears are tipped and my son suggested we trap him to get neutered. I am kind of worried about Callie getting caught in it. Plus, the vets who volunteer their time to spay and neuter feral cats don't do it everyday here. So, if I catch him, I could be holding him for a week, potentially. But he would get a few different shots while being neutered that would help keep him healthy. If he starts coming around more frequently, I'll start asking around about how to approach this whole thing. He appears in clusters and then we don't see him for a few weeks.

Yes, the athletic scholarship angle is much better in a head count sport. That being said, there are a lot of deals worked out for athletes in equivalency sports, especially if they've got good grades. It's part of our strategy in marketing Sam for recruitment. Softball is also one of the ones on the upswing in popularity, so even if it's not headcount, some schools are feeding more into the funding tied to bringing in talent.

Hello-

I did an hour of yoga and I went out for walk to get some fresh air.

My husband is in NYC and he called me today to tell me he wants to talk about what to do going forward. He said he wants to possibly leave and go home. He said he could get a lot of contract work in the financial sector in London. I mean, I personally feel he's going to be RIF'd soon, but I am not sure I want to leave just yet, either. We did this 10 years ago and it was awful. I think he just wants to take his ball and literally go home.

Hello-

Just checking in with yoga and a cardio class. I've been mixing yoga with other stuff because yoga alone is hard on my wrists and shoulders.

We had a little cat drama last night. The orange cat came back last night and this time Callie was having none of it. She hunkered down and started walking towards him, so he left the deck, but just outside of it. My husband tried to feed him by putting a dish of food near him while I tried to distract her by shaking her treat box. She completely tuned me out and she went to sit near the dish as the orange cat was approaching it. He stopped when he saw her. He tried to walk around her, but she lunged at him. He backed down, started walking around and meowing. He sounded very distressed and it was like he was directing the meows towards her. He is so scrawny and I could see his shoulder blades and ribs. I think he was very hungry and was meowing for food. He seems frightened of her. My son saw him waiting in the yard for Callie to go away, but she sat about 12 ft away from him until he left. She came into sleep for a bit, so my son put a dish of food far out in the yard while was sleeping. He waited an hour to bring it in, but he never came back. We're trying to figure out how to feed him away from Callie. He seems like a gentle guy, too.
