I'm surprised they don't have a better way to administer meds to pets! You can't be the only person who ever had this issue! But then, I live in a country that still doesn't have decent flavored meds for kids...I guess there's not much motivation for experts to work on it. Maybe none of the producers of medication ever had to try to hold down a toddler to shoot nasty antibiotics into their mouths as the kid squirmed and kicked. You'd think by now, someone would have recognized a need.

After talking to my mom, apparently the current meds are an improvement over what she had to do with our childhood dog. She always had ear infections and it was a mess. On the plus side, Voo's ear is looking noticeably better and now that she's becoming more agreeable with the treatment, I started to experiment with administration to ensure better dosing. As for flavored kid meds, even the flavors are kind of nasty. I remember K being given some kind of broad spectrum antibiotic and the dr said we may want to skip the flavoring because nothing would really help it. Yuck!

Does anyone have healthy ideas for breakfast that don't involve nuts, dairy, or soy? I'm getting really tired of avocado toast.

Have you thought about egg white scrambles? I usually coat a pan with canola oil spray and add in whatever is around the house...spinach, kale, onions, lean protein like ground turkey, etc. Another option, I also like to mix things like sunflower seeds, dried cranberries and raisins, fresh berries like blueberries, along with some puffed brown rice and maybe some honey.

While I took little breaks here and there yesterday, like popping in to post on here, I essentially worked from 7:45am to 8:15pm. I managed three sets of arms in my little breaks, really as just a stress and tension release. I still felt like I needed to do something, even though it was late, so around 9:30pm...I got on the bike and just pedaled for 30 minutes. No worries about speed or distance...just pedaling what I felt. I wound up going 8.25 miles. Nothing crazy impressive, but it's better than nothing. I just wish I could get some sleep. These kids have shifted into summer vacation mode and now that they're older, that means taking advantage of staying up a lot later. I am such a sensitive sleeper, so it's keeping me up.

Today is yoga, steps and cleaning. Yea for the yoga and LS steps, the cleaning not so much. The boys will be full vegan today. My dh got home this morning and realized they saved him almost no meat from our BBQ Monday. In theory there should have been enough food to last through Friday even for them. No I don't want to talk about it:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: Side note I wish @epcotisbest was here so I could have showed him all the smoke rings:(

I sometimes do regular scrambles. Here's my problem: I take my thyroid medication in the morning. I can't eat for another hour, so by then, I've started working, so I have about 15 minutes to make breakfast and then I eat at my desk. Because of the thyroid medication, I can't do soy or cruciferous veggies in the morning (so I can do eggs and throw in tomatoes or onion, but no spinach or kale, it'll nullify the meds). I can't do dairy other than cheese because it makes my asthma worse. I'm allergic to nuts, along with a few fruits. My mom makes pancakes on the weekend and freezes them, but I feel like doing those every day isn't the healthiest.

So I've been doing avocado on whole wheat bread, but it's getting very, very old. Need some other ideas.

Which milk? I feel like coconut milk is the only one I can use, and it tends to be high calorie. Soy and Almond milks are out. 😕
So Delicious coconut milk is about 40 calories a cup if you buy the unsweetened;) I can't do oats but the boys like it because they can just grab it out of the fridge and add what they want. James favorite frozen blueberries with sunflower seeds Sometimes they nuke it to warm it up. Healthy instant breakfast with almost no clean up:joyfull:

How about blending some fruit you like together into a sort of smoothie, just without the yoghurt? Or maybe a Poached egg on toast and some fruit? I do yogurt with fruit and oats, but since that either involves dairy or soy, that doesn't sound like an option for you. How about an eggwhite omelet? You can put in whatever veggies you want.

Well I'm glad it's going better with the meds. When I was a kid, I remember having a grape flavored antibiotic once that was like grape koolaid. I loved it!

I sometimes do regular eggs. Or rather I say very nicely to Mom "Can you make some eggs?" 😂 I really prefer to just eat regular eggs. I don't really like the taste of egg whites, and whole eggs have nutrients the egg whites don't.

Or maybe a Poached egg on toast and some fruit?
I'm thinking a quick egg on toast might work until I have to go back to work. The question is what is quick. I'm not a fan of anything other than scrambled eggs or omelets.

Yes, I am also picky on top of having a restricted morning diet.

I don't mind egg whites by themselves, but I'm not a fan of yolks by themselves. Fried eggs are quick, which scrambling eggs requires frying, but I don't know if that's healthy enough for your tastes. Frying in butter or oil is definitely not as healthy as other preparations without the fat. But that's up to you.

There are also some cereals that are healthy-ish like grape nuts or all bran, that you could eat with coconut milk. I sometimes sprinkle grapenuts over my yoghurt instead of oats for a change, but only when I can get grapenuts since they don't exist here.

Yesterday was another late workout, but I did a bit more than the previous day. 45 min on the bike, which worked out to a little over 14 miles, then several sets of barre style leg reps, followed by 50 for the obliques on the twist plate. My back was starting to feel some pain, so I decided to just call it quits at 50. I think I may have lifted the wrong way when picking up the bucket of balls at batting earlier...or it could have been wrestling the massive box with the new rooftop car cargo box. Either way, my back was saying no more. The girls go in for their second covid vaccine shot today, so I guess I'll be putting in another evening workout.

Yikes, take it easy the last thing you need if a back issue. Good luck with everything

Yesterday wound up being a break day. It's probably for the best. The girls had their second covid vaccine doses yesterday, and while their first appointment went really quickly, this took forever. We've been having a ton of rain lately, so the drive there and back was a weather nightmare, which didn't help. Then K's appointment somehow got deleted in the system, which took nearly 20 minutes to fix. After that, we found out the pharmacy was slow in releasing doses this time, so we waited another 20 min to get into the administration room, and another 30 minutes for the doses to be delivered, before administration and the standard 15 min wait afterwards. We left the house at 4pm and didn't get back until after 7. What's crazy...had K's info not been deleted, we would have been in and out. Oh well, it's done. I will work out today...maybe during my lunch.

So yesterday was quite the day.

We had a tornado warning come in at 4:55 set to expire at 5 pm. To be honest, I wasn't really that worried about it because we get them all the time and nothing ever comes in our area, but my mom came and got me and we went to the basement. It was a good thing because there was a tornado that formed like 50 feet from our house. It didn't go anywhere and disappated almost immediately because of the hills, but not before it caused a tree to land on our next door neighbor's house while they were in it. They were headed to their basement, looked out their front window, saw the tornado, and the tree fell before they made it to the basement.

Anyway, no one got hurt, but their house is condemned. The entire neighborhood came out last night to make sure they were okay. A tree came down on the private drive, so some people were trapped. It was quite a night.

They already have gotten to work on the neighbor's house. They patched the roof and got the tree off. So scary. It could have easily been us. What's scary is how quickly it came on too. Even my one cat, who normally alerts us when a storm is getting bad based on her behavior, didn't start until basically after the tree fell.
