working out for Disney

Good morning. ☀️

I was going to do yoga, but I seem to have re-injured an issue I had last summer. I think I have piriformis syndrome. I was bending over last night and I coughed at the same time and I felt something "pop" in my left glute. Now it's painful to do things like forward folds, so it's going to be hard to do a yoga class. I can walk and do other stuff without any pain at all, so I just did some YouTube cardio workouts. I'm hoping to get out before it rains. I hope my glute heals quickly, so I can get back to yoga. I'm going to foam roll my butt later and see if I get some relief from that.

That's good that E's friend's dad is on the same page and that you got E's mentor on board. Maybe the school will start taking this seriously. Didn't you say last week the number of cases went from 3 pupils to 16 in one week? That's a lot.

I remember you saying about this anti-mask girl. I'd be tired of her trying to influence my kid, too. Yes, it's your daughter's life, but she's still a child, so you get to call the shots.

I don't understand why other people are so threatened by people who want to wear masks. You see it threads here. Someone was complaining that she saw someone at an arboretum with nobody around wearing one. So what? Someone else said she was on vacation and she met another couple. They were having drinks and appetizers together and the couple put their masks on when they weren't eating. Allegedly, this poster told the couple to leave the table. Then she saw the couple later at the pool without masks and they all had a good time together. OK, then. Why are people so bothered about something that has no effect on them?
Yes, from 3 to 16 students and 2 teachers as well. And I won't know until Friday afternoon what this week's numbers are, but we know there's at least one student because she's in E's class. It's just too iffy for us.

I don't understand that either...I mean, people don't usually even say anything to smokers about endangering other people's health, but you're worried about me wearing a mask when that DOESN'T affect your health in a negative way? The only thing I can think of is that they think it makes them look bad because they aren't wearing one? But that's easily fixed then...just wear one yourself. It's not my responsibility to make you look good. And if you really don't want to wear one, then that's your decision....own it. But my wearing one is none of your business. I just don't get why people think they should get a vote.

I got in 3 miles today. I actually had to wear sunscreen today!! I got just a tiny bit pink yesterday, so I figured I'd better wear sunblock today since it's even nicer out that it was yesterday. It's gorgeous. Low 70s and sunny, not a cloud in the sky. It would be perfect weather for Disneying. So I made appointments at a couple of stores and went looking for summer dresses. You have to make an appointment to get into stores right now. I got 2 dresses for 17.50 Euros!

That photo is too funny. It's like a lady bug-spider hybrid (although I find the long, tapered legs creepy).

My only complaint is that he already has a spider in the menagerie. If you go through the slideshow on the Houston Chronicle article below, you can see all of the other sculptures. It's just one of those crazy roadside America type things that I used to drive by nearly every day. Not everything is well showcased in the slideshow, but my personal favorite is the last pic in the slideshow...the massive fishing rod hooking a full size Chevy Silverado.

Your weekends sound so intense. If I was doing that at her age, I'd beg my mom to let me stay home and sleep on Monday. Seven games in a weekend--wow. I'd be too tired to do my homework. :hilarious:

We've had a few where she's played over 10 games over the course of 2-3days. I'm bracing myself for our big travel tournaments, especially the FL one, because there's a decent chance the kids will be playing in the middle of the night. The funny thing...while she's tired afterwards, she'd love to go out and play some more by the next day. They practice at least twice a week (typically 3 hours each practice) and most of the kids have private lessons on off days (we see a batting coach on Wednesdays). It's a real commitment to play any kind of travel/club sport. We do see kids drop from time to time, simply because it's too much. We're wondering how next year is going to be when she gets to add in school sports. Most of her close buddies on the team are a grade ahead of her, but they find ways to balance. I anticipate volleyball, cross country and track next year on top of softball.

I'm a little grossed out. I have a food-grade, air proof container that I keep my flour in. It holds 20 lbs of flour. I topped the flour off with a new bag a couple of weeks ago and sealed it. I was making banana bread on Sunday and I opened the container. There were a bunch of these holes that looked like something had burrowed into the flour. I stirred it up with a spoon and I got this fuzzy clump of something. It looked like larvae inside of a sac. 🤮 I had to throw out 15 lbs of flour. I am guessing these little monsters were in the bag I poured in a couple of weeks ago, since I always close the lid and make sure it snaps shut. My husband had to go to Costco anyway, so he picked up another 12 lbs. bag of flour for me. I haven't opened it yet, b/c I want to run the container through the dishwasher.:hilarious:

I keep my flour and pasta refrigerated to avoid this. I can't even think about my major bug episode and my strong gag reflex!

That's an awesome deal. I've been picking up summer stuff here and there. There are some really good deals out there and I just get it shipped to my house.

What a fun place. There was a house near my HS that had a homemade metal sculpture of ant on it hind legs. It was just so random. We always used to joke it was inspired by a bad acid trip.

I prefer the lady bug spider over the "real" spider. That one is creepy and it looks like one of those deadly Australian funnel web spiders when it lifts its front legs up. I think the dragon is cute, though.

X2 YUCK It happened to me once. STRAIGHT IN TH GARBAGE

I felt awful, because it's such a waste of food. I swear, I googled online and people are just "Oh, just sieve it out You should know what you're eating-you'd be disgusted." Yeah, no. I'm sorry, whatever I dredged up the other day was so gross-looking. It looked like it was made from cob webs and had 2-3 little spheres inside of it and it was dangling off of the spoon.

Your daughters are lucky you will drive them all over! lol I was in band and she used to complain when she had to drop me off at school when we would take a bus to play in various competitions. She rarely used to come to my concerts because she said they were boring and she never came to any of my individual competitions for the same reason. Forget about her showing up to any of my weekend track meets.

I was hoping an airtight container would prevent this. It's such a big container and it's a round container, it will take up so much room in the fridge. But I think I will do this with my all of my rice. I buy that 5 lbs at a time and I don't want to keep throwing food away.

Hello-

I did a 30 minute yoga class this morning and then a short walk after lunch. My glute didn't hurt, but I could tell it wasn't right. So, Im just going back to "regular" workouts tomorrow until it feels right again. I kept waking up last night because it did hurt when I went to flip over to another side. Thankfully, I can do a lot of other stuff, just not yoga.

I'm patiently waiting for the warmer weather to come back (and my turn for the vaccine). It was chilly today and tomorrow will be even chillier. Then, it seems like we turn the corner a bit. 🌷

I need to look into one of those. It would solve some of my food storage issues.

I don't buy in bulk like many of you with families at home, do. With just two of us, I might buy a 2-5 pound bag of something or other. Just wanted to share that Target (and other places like Bed Bath & Beyond, etc.) sells a brand called OXO. They are great see-through, plastic containers (various sizes/small to large; they also sell complete sets which are $ pricey), with an airtight top lid (you press a button at the top to seal out the air).

They're not cheap, but they are sturdy and hold up very well.

I’ve hear of people storing flour and even dog food in the freezer to kill any bugs. Haven’t ever tried it though.

I used to keep things like crackers, cookies, cereals in the fridge when I lived in Arizona. But that was to keep the bugs that seemed to be everywhere out. I've never put things in the freezer to kill anything. I should look in to putting something a bag of flour in the freezer for a certain amount of time to head off any nasty surprises. I could have gone the rest of my life without seeing that egg sac, or whatever the heck it was. :hilarious:
