working out for Disney

I don't buy in bulk like many of you with families at home, do. With just two of us, I might buy a 2-5 pound bag of something or other. Just wanted to share that Target (and other places like Bed Bath & Beyond, etc.) sells a brand called OXO. They are great see-through, plastic containers (various sizes/small to large; they also sell complete sets which are $ pricey), with an airtight top lid (you press a button at the top to seal out the air).

They're not cheap, but they are sturdy and hold up very well.

I'll look into that. I've had some of their products before. Flour is the only thing I really load up on, because I bake bread 2-3 times a week, so I go through it so quickly. So, I would only have to buy a single container.

Good morning ☀️

I did some YouTube workouts today. I'm still not healed enough to go back to yoga. I'm going to go for a walk later when it "warms up". By "warm up", I mean the max temp of 44. 👎

I'm going to bake a rum cake today and then let it soak until Sunday. I made a really good rum cake for New Year's Eve, but the rum was so harsh at first. 🔥 Then it mellowed out. So I am going to see if I can correct that. I also splashed out for a nicer rum. Hopefully that will help, too.

Good afternoon,

I've been keeping up with my workouts. Earlier this week I did a pilates DVD-turned-digital-by-me that I haven't done in a while. I was sore afterwards.

Today I was particularly unmotivated, but I managed to do 60 minutes on my mini elliptical, which is more than usual. Whether I'll be able to move later remains to be seen.

Happy Easter! I got out for a 3.7 mile walk today. It is pretty chilly outside, in the 40s, so I was pretty cold to start with. I want to go back on Wednesday and take out my new camera that I bought for my birthday/Christmas back in December, but haven't taken out of the box yet. There were some really pretty trees and flowers, so it would be fun to practice settings on the camera while I get my exercise and some fresh air. I have to work tomorrow and Tuesday, so I won't be able to go until Wednesday, but then it will be a nice walk as long as it's not raining.

Ugh....the weather is terrible and the forecast for Wednesday doesn't look promising. It's supposed to be rainy all week...today and tomorrow we might even get snow. Last week we were in the 70s, and now we're back to 30s/40s!
We had that happen here. Last week it was snowing. Yesterday it was back in the sixties.

Our weather looks great this week but possibly rainy this weekend. I hope that changes. We're supposed to go to our first Orioles game since 2019 on Sunday, and if the weather's good B and I will either go bike riding or back up to Hershey on Saturday.

Hoping those who celebrate had a Happy Easter.

I was hoping to get back into a workout routine with this long weekend, but I had a stronger than expected reaction to my second Covid shot. I went on Friday morning, and while this time, my entire arm was really sore on day 1, I was feeling pretty good at first. I woke up in the middle of the night all achy and chilled. When I finally got the energy to find the thermometer, I had a temp of 102.7. By mid morning, I was back to normal, just to have it happen again late afternoon. I think I was up to 102.3 at that point. By the evening, my fever was something like 103.6 or 103.8 (at least). I was so foggy and the thermometer was still going, but I got tired of holding it in my mouth, so I'm not sure how high my temp really got. I was normal again by 8am the next morning, but by late morning yesterday, it came back and was something like 101.8 at that point. My temp stayed elevated to at least 100.7 or higher until bedtime...when I was back to normal again. I must have run a couple of fevers overnight because I woke up in a sweat twice, like a fever had broken. One time, I was so drenched that I had to change clothes. I also noticed that I have a lovely red swollen patch at the injection site, about 3-4" wide.

Other than that, I am starting to gather supplies for my husband's 50th birthday cake. I still need to decide on a flavor. We're actually having his bday meal before his bday, but it's a biggie, so I guess we can celebrate more than once. Heck, we had a cake at Disney back in February.

I hope you are feeling better now! Fevers are awful!

When is his actual birthday? How long do you have to decide on a flavor?

I was expecting something between 100-101, which is what seemed to be the norm. I expected a day of feeling yucky...also the norm. I was blindsided by how high my fever went and the duration of the side effects. Awful pic, but this is what the injection site on my upper arm looked like as of 11pm last night (about 60 hours after being administered).

I've got a little under a week and a half to decide on cake flavors. He normally likes simple stuff, so it may be more a matter of making the simple really special.

How are you doing today? Is the fever gone?
