Hello I'm back and hoping to be able to check in on a more regular basis. Seeing I was away for so much of the summer and early fall dealing with my mom's heath scare everything around the house was WAYYYYYYYYYYY behind by the time I settled back in at home. Btw my mom is fine the biopsies showed her as all clear so the only problem she had to deal with afterward was getting her allergy meds straightened out and that was another giant pita. Changing her primary care doctor helped with that:joyfull: Keeping up with yoga has been difficult at best but I've been doing a good deal of walking, yesterday my younger ds and I went on a power walk for over 2 hours:D Let's see what else is going on, oh that's right this year for my hand made holiday gifts I'm giving out canned items which had taken up quite a bit of my time, nothing like starting at the end of tomato and pepper season when apples are already out.

I'm really unhappy with my fitbit. I've been thinking for a while that it's not counting all my steps because I walk a LOT at work, and I'm still barely hitting the 10,000 steps mark. It didn't seem right to me, and I already knew it wasn't registering when I ride my bike. It's supposed to, but I think it has maybe 5 times in the whole year since I got it. But I noticed yesterday at work, when I looked at the time, I also saw the steps while I was walking across the warehouse pushing a cart, as that's part of my job. That's probably about a third of my steps. I got to the other side and checked, and didn't think it had moved at all. So I kept checking both when I was pushing a cart and when I wasn't, and it didn't register any of the steps with the cart. It did register when I was without the cart, even if I was holding something in that hand, so it caught that. But between how fast it drains (less so since I started using the USB port on my laptop to charge it instead of an outlet, but I still have to charge it every other day or so), and it not registering all my activity, I don't think it's worth the money spent on it. My generic one registered more accurately, had a longer battery life, and only cost me 30 Euros. I wonder if I should let Fitbit know I'm unhappy with it or just wait for it to die and then buy a generic one again. I do like that this one measures heart rate and sleep patterns, but I could live without that. But I also wonder if it would do any good to complain...I've had it for almost a year. Thoughts?

I definitely would let Fitbit know. I would expect the device to last for at least a handful of years, and not have any of these issues. I know I've seen complaints in the running groups I'm in about Fitbit not being as accurate as other devices, so that may be a known issue with the model; however, the battery drain seems like a real problem...especially with it being so new. At less than a year old, it may still be under warranty too, so they may be more willing to help without you incurring any costs/fees.

Welcome back! So glad to hear that your mom's biopsies were clear. It's really tough to keep up with everything when so much "life" starts happening all at once. The canned holiday items sound nice. I'm sure it's at least semi-therapeutic to work on projects like that.

I'm keeping up with my running and workouts, but I feel like everything is out of control. It does help that we're past my younger one's bday party, the worst of the stress at work for this season is behind me, and my FIL's viewing happened on Monday...but there's still so much going on. We really need to find time to shop for flooring so we can fix the easier part of the flood damage. I dread having to pack up the china cabinet. It also looks like some things changed before my FIL passed, and now we're going to be responsible for clearing out the house and getting it sold. He lived in a 55+ golf community, so that should be interesting to this whole stress mix.

It's not convenient to the house and I'm a bit scared of heights, but the birthday party does have me thinking about trying climbing as a new form of cross training...at some point. If only it didn't look so scary...

What kind of Fitbit do you have?

I'd let them know honestly. I've had three and all have been good.

I have the charge 2, so it's an older model for sure, but I expected it to be more accurate than it is, and I expected the battery life to be a lot better. If I actually USE it, like not just have it on my wrist to measure steps and sleep, but use the features like the 2 minute relax, it drains super fast. As it is, I charge it every other day, and that's just for having it on and not using its features. I also tried to figure out how to set it for other activities than walking, but apparently, it is supposed to automatically recognize things like riding a bike or exercising, but it doesn't and there is no way to set it because it's supposed to recognize it automatically. It just doesn't work as it is supposed to work.

I'd complain to Fitbit. I have a charge 3. I charge it about once a week, and I've never had an issue with it not tracking a workout.

I'm in agreement with @StarWarsGirl. I don't know anything about the model, but in general, these devices should last for days on a single charge if there's no GPS in use. As for the bike part...you may want to dig around online for solutions. I started looking and saw this issue come up in several FitBit forum communities. Not having the device myself, it's hard to know which one may fix it...but some of it may help you.

I have yet to work out today. I've been dealing with some pain in my left knee. It's nothing new nor is it directly related to the running. If anything, the running makes it feel better. I think it's aggravated by the biking. I'm thinking about hopping on the treadmill tonight for a walk instead. It's rainy and turning chilly here, but our local station started their Christmas music today...so that might make for some nice walking time.

It's chilly and dreary here...which is actually my favorite kind of weather! :hilarious: I decided to give my knee another rest day yesterday and only take it for a run today. It's now only bothering me on the stairs. Unfortunately, the rest of me needs all that other biking and cross training. My legs fought me every little bit of my run this morning. So, I'm going to go back to full blown cross training, but do things like decreasing speed and tension on the bike to help take it easy on my knee. I did run to the holiday music, so that was nice...although...my holiday playlists are better. I just haven't been able to rebuild all of my music since getting my new phone.

Speaking of...I wound up getting an iPhone 11.

I didn't want to spend on the pro or pro Max, so I narrowed it down to the 11 vs. the XR. Since I average 4 years per phone, I decided to go with the newer model in hopes that it's a little more functional with updates and such at the next 4 year mark. I didn't see any sturdy Disney cases that I liked for it and I'm not feeling crafty right now, so I decided to go for something funny. Even my daughter's late 70 something orthodontist had to see it and make the ducks go under "water." 😂
