working out for Disney

Hello-

My MIL arrived Friday and I have been busy getting ready for her. We went to DC on Sat. and got home a short time ago. We arrived Sat. afternoon. We should have left earlier, but my MIL only just got in the night before and she was jet-lagged. So we left late morning. To be honest, the weather was miserable, so we didn't miss much. We had dinner at a fantastic Indian restaurant that is difficult to get reservations and just took it easy at the hotel. We spent yesterday and the the morning going into museums. The weather was so much better. I didn't workout, but I walked everywhere. I'll just jump back in tomorrow. :)

I am supposed to go to FL Saturday evening, but I am not so sure now that it looks like Irma is going to hit FL. I guess I'll know in a few days. I am flying Southwest, so if I have to cancel, they will credit me the cost of the flights. I am going to Chicago for Thanksgiving, so I am not really losing anything.

Ugh....that's ridiculous! I'm sure it's a money grab....they think people will shell out for a brand new device. What happened to making things that last and rewarding customers for their loyalty?

Curry noodles sound great!! Recipe?

I haven't forgotten about you. The recipe is on my Weight Watchers app and I need to do screen shots!

Edit: I finally did it.

Are you supposed to go to FL for work? Or were you headed there for fun? They said on the news this morning that I think the governor had already declared a state of emergency, just in case or something? I didn't even know they could do that.

Yes he did and it's called a stage 2 down there(I think). It means the cities and towns can get prepped and plans can start being made because evacuations need to be made a few days out when needed due to the volume of traffic.

Good morning day 23 done and I'm going walking before getting my propane tanks filled and picking up some extra batteries just in case Irma does make the turn north. Best/worst case I have some extra batteries and an excuse to grill. Everybody be safe and @epcotisbest and @93boomer keep your gas tanks filled if she does hit the southeast shortages are expected:mad::(:mad::mad::mad::mad::grumpy::grumpy::grumpy::grumpy::grumpy::(

Thank you!! Looks really interesting. I hope I can get all the ingredients here!

I was wondering if you would be able to get things like the curry paste. I was trying to think of a substitute for it, but I can't. Don't worry about getting things like savoy cabbage. I just use what ever I have in the fridge. You could use regular cabbage, even. I buy broccoli slaw and use that.

I was supposed to meet a few friends that I went to social work school with. I have an annual pass and I found out I can get cash refund if my flight is cancelled. My portion of the hotel room was not a lot, so I don't stand to lose much.

  1. To make any of the above curry pastes...
First peel the garlic and ginger. Put a frying pan on a medium to high heat and add the spices for toasting to the dry pan. Lightly toast them for a few minutes until golden brown and smelling delicious, then remove the pan from the heat.
  2. Add the toasted spices to a pestle and mortar and grind until fine, or put them into a food processor and whiz to a powder. Either way, when you’ve ground them whiz the toasted spices in a food processor with the rest of the ingredients until you have a smooth paste.

Hope it misses FL and you still get to go. Good that you can recoup the cost of the flights, just in case. Good luck!!:)

Well we spent our whole holiday scrapping paint off the front door! Ugh!! The sun had blistered and cracked the paint. So, we decided just to strip it down to the metal and prime and paint it over. It took two days!! I am so tired of that dang door! I got the prime coat and one coat of paint on it. Have to wait a couple of days and will do the other one. We got it back up and put on the new doorknob and deadbolt. The hinges were replaced to but I told DH that they didn't look right. Yep we need to adjust the new ones a bit. That is for next weekend.
We took a day off yesterday and hiked a bit. Today was my normal grocery shopping and resting. Walking later.
Dinner is salmon, steamed broccoli, and baked sweet potato. Have a good night!:)
