working out for Disney

We've been BUSY the last few days. We went to Wunderland Kalkar on Saturday...took DD's friend with us. They went on the roller coaster at least like 10 times. Sunday we went to my in-laws' and my DD and I went shopping at Primark for Harry Potter stuff, specifically hoping to find a day planner, which she is required to have for school. But they didn't have any HP ones, so we ordered one online when we couldn't find anything she liked. Yesterday was, of course, school and I worked and had choir in the evening. And today I had to go into town and pick up my DH's meds from the pharmacy, go to the bank, and get a few things I didn't think about on Sunday. Yesterday I had 28,000 steps. Today only 7000, but I figure with as many as I got yesterday, and last week, I should be fine. I measured myself and I've lost a couple of inches off my waist, so I AM making progress even though I can't SEE it yet. And my pants are falling down...so it's working. I just need to keep doing what I'm doing. I love that my cracker keeps me motivated and helps me keep track so I know when I need to push a little harder, or just accept a slower day.

Yay on the pants falling down!

OK, that sounds weird, but well done!

Hello-

I didn't go for walk today, since it rained all day. It was so gloomy today. But, I did a 16 minute "as many rounds as possible" workout. With a warm up and long stretching afterwards, it usually comes out to 30-33 minutes.

My cracker's been acting funny. About a week and a half ago, it went crazy. It stopped working in the middle of the night. Then I had to charge it every two days, when a charge would get me 7-8 days. I noticed this craziness coincided with an iOS update. I went to the Fitbit website and others are having issues, too. It's from the iOS update and Fitbit is in no hurry to fix this. They have said outright they don't have a time line for a fix. They are also discontinuing the model I have, which is the One! I think that's why they are not in a rush to fix this update. I don't like the wrist crackers and this was a discreet clip on. I am looking at other companies to purchase a new cracker. Bad move, Fitbit. I've been a Fitbit customer since 2011. I have my cracker linked to my Weight Watchers account, so I get "Fit Points" for moving around. I like that convenience.

Anyway, I am making curry noodles with veggies and tofu for dinner. :hungry:

Mine is 10 years old, so maybe it's time. I guess I was worried about seeing a new dentist. I miss my dentist in Illinois. I went to a dentist here in March and the hygienist was combative. She wanted to argue about the medications I take, she sniped at me for the same thing three times until I finally said, "You've made your point. PLEASE STOP." She didn't like that. Then when she was done, she stomped off without saying good bye or seeing me to the waiting room. When the dentist came in, he never took his face guard off. He should have put a new one on for me. I couldn't hear his name when he introduced himself.

So, I really need to find a new dentist. LOL

Yes, you do need to find a new dentist. Take your hard-earned money elsewhere.

Would you believe I may have a few more pairs than that:angelic:
Most women do...most of my friends LOVE shoes and enjoy shoe shopping. I hate it...trying to find something that's functional AND fashionable, because I won't wear it if it's not comfy. I lived in high heels in high school because of choir and speech and debate. But now I won't wear them because they damage my feet and they hurt. But most women are willing to endure a bit of pain to look nice...I am not one of those women. So finding anything I will wear for an affordable price is a nightmare.

I think it means they are competitive, I am guessing. My husband came home told me about it and asked, "What does that even mean?" LOL
It really is perplexing. I know Asian parents have a reputation for being very strict and demanding academic success, but doing well doesn't mean you are bullying other kids who don't. I'm guessing the hygienist has a kid who isn't doing particularly well and is jealous of the success of other students. She probably thinks her baby should be right up there at the top and is upset that that isn't the case. There was a woman whose daughter was in my daughter's class, and she had a younger girl and an older boy also in the school and she was always complaining about how the school didn't offer any advanced work for her kids who were so much smarter and needed the challenge. But both of my kids got advanced work in math and language and reading. Her kids just aren't as bright as she thinks. She ended up putting them in a different school where "they can work at their own pace" and I've since read that that school is in trouble for kids failing the national standards...they have the lowest scores of any school here in our town, and are well below the national average. And whenever I see the woman, she brags about how much better her kids are doing at this new school and how they are working at a higher grade level than their age. But statistically, kids there are performing below their grade level...so they might say a kid is working at a 5th grade level, but the 5th graders are only performing at 3rd or 4th grade level...so actually, they are either at or below their peers in the same age group. Some people just aren't prepared to accept that their kids aren't geniuses.

Ugh....that's ridiculous! I'm sure it's a money grab....they think people will shell out for a brand new device. What happened to making things that last and rewarding customers for their loyalty?

Curry noodles sound great!! Recipe?

Good morning it's the start of a couple of crazy busy but not exactly in a bad way days. 2 miles, day 17 done, salad ready to roll and I have a few nights dinner in the fridge all cooked up.

Oh I know...it's a generalization and it's ridiculous, but even if you DO buy into it, how is that bullying other students just because you get better grades? We have no Asian heritage, but my mom was extremely strict with grades...I got an A- once (Asian F, according to Glee) and my mom threatened to make me quit speech and debate until it was "up where it was supposed to be." But my good grades had nothing to do with other kids...they earned their grades and I earned mine. You don't like your grades? Work harder!

Been there done that. Try explaining a regular A when the teacher didn't put a plus or minus on report cards, back when they were hand written with no number average:banghead:

In my house a plain A was acceptable....IF you had not had an A+ previously. The A- was not acceptable because I had had an A the quarter before. But man was mom upset when I got a C in Calculus my senior year. Most parents would have just been proud that their kid made it into the advanced math program. It was the only AP course our school had and you had to start the AP in junior high because you had to take every level of math before that...Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, and Trigonometry. If you didn't start until your freshman year, you wouldn't get through all of them by your senior year. There were only 5 kids in Calculus, one was an exchange student, one wasn't even from our town, but the next town over had an over-crowding problem. They didn't want to build a new school because then they had to split up all their power house sports teams, so instead, they asked for volunteers to be bused into our school every day and this kid did it because in that town, he might not even be on varsity for basketball, where in OUR tiny little school, he could be the star. So out of 5 kids in the calc class, only 3 of us were really from our school, and I was the only girl. I worked my tail off in that class, and I got all A's on the homework, but blanked on the first test and flunked it. But the teacher knew I knew it, so he gave me a retake and I think I got a B- on it, and somehow homework A's and a B- on the test averaged out to a C on my report card. Mom was livid and the teacher couldn't explain to her how that worked...granted, something was obviously wrong there, but man did I have a hard time getting that up to a B the next quarter. My mom didn't exactly like the B, but it was up from a C and it WAS an AP class, so she didn't say too much that time. But if I had lost out on my scholarship because of that, I don't even want to think what she would have done. I don't believe in putting so much pressure on the kids about grades. I'm happy my kids both do REALLY well, but even if they weren't high flyers, I would be proud of them as long as they did the best they could. A C in calculus would be pretty awesome in my book. I would consider what my mom did academically bullying, but don't blame the kids for getting better grades than your little darling. I don't think that woman knew what those kids probably went through at home in order to get those grades.

It was very dull day yesterday. I didn't get in my usual post-lunch walk with co-workers, so I did a 30 minute FIRM "Cardio Party" when I got home.

Fitbit customer service is like that. At about a year, my hubby's band stopped holding a charge. He called Fitbit and was pretty much told to buy a new one. Maybe I'm just a cheapskate, but for >$100, something should last for more than a year. We just recently got new ones because zulily was selling recently-discontinued Charge HRs in funky colors for $60.

I am guilty of over-love of shoes and shoe shopping. I've achieved Platinum status at DSW. High heels and low heels and boots, oh my!

I used to also be guilty of putting up with quite a bit of pain from my shoes, but now in my 50s, I won't do that anymore. Heels or flats, if they hurt, out they go!

I haven't done a Firm workout in way too long. THNX for reminding me to look one up after I'm done with this 30 day round of yoga or maybe I'll find a cardio one to change things up a bit. I keep forgetting how fun they are.

I've been trying to stick with them because they promise "visible results in 10 workouts" :joyfull:

They are excellent workouts. I'm fonder of the classic ones than the newer ones, despite the less-than-timeless early 90s workout wear.
