Method
  1. To make any of the above curry pastes...
First peel the garlic and ginger. Put a frying pan on a medium to high heat and add the spices for toasting to the dry pan. Lightly toast them for a few minutes until golden brown and smelling delicious, then remove the pan from the heat.
  2. Add the toasted spices to a pestle and mortar and grind until fine, or put them into a food processor and whiz to a powder. Either way, when you’ve ground them whiz the toasted spices in a food processor with the rest of the ingredients until you have a smooth paste.

Hello-

I went for a walk and did some stretching yesterday. My lower back was killing me all weekend. I rarely have back pain, but I was carrying a cross body purse all weekend with a really large and heavy wallet in it. :banghead: I think it threw off my alignment. I had to keep stopping to stretch. But I feel better today.

My husband and my MIL are going to Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell. I am opting out. It's raining and my MIL is testing the upper limits of my patience. :p She's not an unpleasant person by any means. But she talks AT you--non stop.I try to have a conversation and jump in when she takes a breath. She just talks over me until I give up. I have started walking away when she does that.

Good morning. Dark and raining here. And cool! We are down to 49 tonight!! We, in the Carolinas, are closely watching this hurricane. We have family in SC and NC. Friends in FL and GA.
This is not one to be taken lightly.
Praying and sending pixie dust to all affected by this storm.

I am hoping this stays away from the US period. My brother lives in Tampa and doesn't want to leave. He has a dog and he's worried about not being able to find a place that will allow dogs.
I hope he doesn't get hit but the good news is all cities have pet friendly shelters after Katrina because so many people didn't evacuate because of their pets.

He was supposed to leave this morning at 6. He is driving to TN, then Chicago for 2 weeks. My mom and my gram are up there and he has loads of friends who will let him couch surf. He was just tying up loose ends with his business. *phew*

Well we spent our whole holiday scrapping paint off the front door! Ugh!! The sun had blistered and cracked the paint. So, we decided just to strip it down to the metal and prime and paint it over. It took two days!! I am so tired of that dang door! I got the prime coat and one coat of paint on it. Have to wait a couple of days and will do the other one. We got it back up and put on the new doorknob and deadbolt. The hinges were replaced to but I told DH that they didn't look right. Yep we need to adjust the new ones a bit. That is for next weekend.
We took a day off yesterday and hiked a bit. Today was my normal grocery shopping and resting. Walking later.
Dinner is salmon, steamed broccoli, and baked sweet potato. Have a good night!:)
Ugh...that sounds less than fun. Not exactly a holiday!!

Hello-

I did a new workout today, so my legs might be sore tomorrow. I got it for a dollar in a flash sale--can't beat that!

I didn't walk today, it was pretty gloomy and wet. I stayed up in my room most of the day, because I am sick of my MIL talking at me about cruises. I'm a little tired of being told we are spending too much to go on Disney cruises. She goes on a cruses about 6-7 cruises a year, which is great if that is what she likes. Then she tells the same stories about them every time I see her. This has been going on since I met my husband. :hilarious:

I'm still hoping Irma takes a hard rt away from the US, but that's not looking too likely as time goes on. This is storm is insane. :jawdrop:

Stay safe. I can't get over the size of this beast. I was hoping it would break up a bit. Good grief.

Wait...so she goes on 6-7 cruises a yer, but tells you that YOU spend too much on cruises?? Why does she care how you spend your money and what you choose for YOUR vacation? That makes no sense!

Think I'm taking a day off, other than the normal every day stuff, like taking the kids to school and doing grocery shopping. I've already got more than 3500 steps in, so I'm not doing too badly, but I'm not going to go out of my way to get more steps in today.

Good morning. Today I am going out to pick up a few things just in case the hurricane comes over us. If the power goes out, our water pump goes out. So gallons of water and water to drink will be needed. It's been awhile since we had one go over but the winds really picked up then. Hate wind.
Ok everyone take care and have a good day. :)

So, my flight for Saturday night was cancelled this AM. I can change it once free of charge. Part of me wants to go out earlier in the day. I really wanted to see my friends again. We have all fanned out since school and it's always so difficult to meet up due to children, work, distance (one lives in Europe). Honestly, the parks were a secondary thing for me. I wanted to catch up and have a laugh with them. :) One of my friends is already down there and has been since Saturday and she flew in from Europe. She is riding it out and my other two friends are still intending on going down tonight.

I think I will see how the updates go today. I will probably just for the 11th or 12th seeing how this plays out. I'm still hoping (in futility, I suppose) that it will turn away from the US. What an ugly season this is turning out to be.
