working out for Disney

I'm not going to WDW again until 3/2018 but I should probably get started on my Disney Diet now since I'll need to lose like 20lbs to make room for the 30lbs I'll gain while there despite walking 10 miles a day:eek:

I do go to the gym, but it's not as often as I "should" or would like. Any tips or motivation, guys?
Welcome aboard and now is the perfect time to start. Your first motivation should be better all around health but that being said seeing your goal is 20 pounds and 1/2 pound per week is very doable and an excellent rate for permanent weight loss. What works for me may not work for you but I get up and work out so it's done and I start my day feeling like I accomplished something.:inlove: The one thing I would suggest is checking out youtube for some Leslie Sansone " walking" workouts because they'll help you build stamina for all those 10 mile days. Starting a food and exercise log also helps a great deal because you have to keep yourself honest to yourself about how you're treating your body. Most people stay on track when they know they have to write things down. Now as for diet do what works for you and no crazy crash diets. They may work in the short term but fail long term and you may wind up in worse shape. I'm a whole food vegan and it suits me very well. I don't count anything but do watch what I eat. to some extent. Good luck and feel free to check in as often as you want or need

Good morning today was power plank. A bit short but you can only spent so much time doing plank moves LOL Due to the extreme cold this morning and the kids having a 1/2 day my group isn't going walking so I'll pop in some LS or maybe Cize. I'll see what I'm in the mood for when my angles leave. It's clean out the fridge day so I'll have salad for lunch and minestrone for dinner:joyfull:

I concur with the others here--slow and steady. I'm down 10 out of 20, myself. My motivation is to drop a few points in my BP reading, or in other words, for health reasons I'm losing weight. And no, I'm not following any advertised diet. All I've done is cut down on things I like with small portions.

Also, at work, I keep a small amount of snacks like peanuts or crackers in my desk drawer--I'll just have a few if I'm hungry between meals. I've found that I usually don't require extra full-size snacks--just a few bites here and there. I also don't have a real timeframe for all the weight loss. I'm just staying with my own system here, and it comes off when it comes off. I wish you well.

Good morning.

Surprisingly, I am not sore from my workout. I was so sure I would be since I hadn't done this particular workout in so long. Today is going to be either a kickboxing workout or a dance workout. I am not sure yet. Maybe dance since it's Friday. LOL

My husband bought the ingredients for pesto alla Trapanese, which uses almonds and tomatoes, instead of pine nuts--I think he is dropping a not-so-subtle hint about dinner tonight. I am trying not to eat so many carbs, so I am going to see what else I can cobble together for myself.

I think I am going to do a mash up of @MinnieM123 and @epcotisbest and have almond butter with apple slices for breakfast today.

I think any time is a good time to start. "Now" is even better. I might start again tomorrow or the next day.
For me, the motivation that is the strongest is when I decide to lose weight, exercise more and eat healthier for me, because I want to do it for my own health. My wife can encourage, the Dr. can make all kinds of suggestions, but until I set it in my mind to do it because I want to do it for me, it does not really happen. I do try fairly regularly, and have had some success in walking and losing weight, but do know I have to get back to being more serious about it.
The mind set that I am trying to get better for my own sake is a strong motivator, and in doing so it makes things better for my wife when I am healthier too.
Not sure that makes a lot of sense, but main thing I am trying to pass along is make sure you keep reminding yourself that healthy is good for you.

Thanks for the supportiveness guys! I have fluctuated by these 20lbs for about 15 years. I always say "it'll be gone for good this time" but alas, I allow it to return. Nevertheless, time for it to go again.

My biggest downfall is not incorporating enough fresh fruit and vegetables into my snacking so that's my first step. More exercise is the next.

Veggies and fruit are always a good idea:joyfull: as for exercise even if you only squeeze walking in place during commercials it does help get you back in the groove. Good luck

Yeah, right?! I probably should've elaborated. I find that for me, if I have that for snacks, that routine slowly overpowers my want for bad snacks and it leads to everything else falling into a healthier place. I end up wanting that over other choices.

Ooo great idea to walk in place, thanks!

Somebody upstairs must like me because around 7:30 it started getting warmer very quickly:joyfull: It's about 35 degrees warmer than when I got up:joyfull::joyfull::joyfull::joyfull: So I skipped the DVD and went walking and will go out in a bit. I may as well get in as much outside time while I can before winter sets in:cautious:

Hello-

I am in with a dance workout. I looked more foolish than usual, because this was a new one. I had been doing the only routine and and off since May. I need to do it a few more times before I decide if I like it or not.

Good morning. Late start to my day because we got stuck in traffic for hours last night any way we'll be heading out to the last farm market Saturday until sometime in spring:( Then it's off doing holiday food shopping and a gazillion other errands. As soon as we're settled when we get home I'm chasing everybody away to get in today's workout.

Yes, leave it to Figgy to sneak in a way to get some exercise! Commercials are an annoyance to begin with, so walking in place during them, might alleviate some of the boredom. ;)

As for moi, I work all week in large buildings, and lately I've been taking the stairs instead of the elevators. Following Figgy's lead here--there's probably all kinds of easy options to fit in exercise of one sort of another. And I also think that this sort of mindset pays off in a cumulative value--by adding additional exercise here and there--over a period of time, you'll eventually start to really see and feel the benefits. :)

It's called "Sh'bam" and it's available on a subscription streaming site called "Les Mills On Demand." It's $13/mo, but there are hundreds of workouts of all sorts. I really need to weed through the sites I've subscribed to and drop them. I see them and think, "Oh, $x/month isn't too bad. It's cheaper than the gym." But when you subscribe to a couple or more, it becomes as much as a gym membership.

If not more:banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead::banghead: I almost did beach body on demand but decided against it. I have a few DVDs that I haven't done every level of and a few free workout that I've bookmarked that I hope to get to some day not to mention all my favorite DVDs that will get put back in rotation once I get through with #.:joyfull:

I have been close to subscribing there myself, but then I remind myself I've yet to come across a BB instructor who wasn't obnoxious. I think I am the only person in the world who can't stand Tony Horton. A total "Gaston" is there ever was one.

3lbs off!!!! I would be happy if I can even drop another 5 before next weekend. I don't think I'll be able to do much about my lack of muscle tone, but still hitting 21df daily.

Good for you--3 pounds gone. That's a lot of weight, actually. Weight tends to come off quicker at the beginning which is good, as it provides incentive to keep on going!

Hello-

Happy Saturday!

I spent the day outside. It was 72F, so it was probably the last of mild weather for the season. I am curious to see how a South Jersey winter stacks up to a Chicago one. People tell me it is mild compared to what I am accustomed to--we shall see...

I just finished a cardio hiit workout. I like that they are short, but I feel like a human furnace when I am done. I am so sweaty for hours, even though I shower. I tell myself it's my body burning fat. I don't know how true that is, but I like it. ;)
