working out for Disney

Hello-
I am in with a dance workout (Sh'Bam). It felt so good to be active after last week. I will probably go out for a stroll later, if storms don't roll in. I have some "Paleo" Orange Chicken in my slow cooker. I was going to serve it with cauliflower "rice", but I might just cut it into florets, steam it and call it dinner. :)

Happy news with just under 6 weeks to go my dh only has to lose 7 pounds to meet his goal. He took his bike out yesterday and did about 3 miles and took a walk. His blood pressure is down to just about 120/80 without meds. Yea him!

Has he been eating like you, or does he eat lean meat and veggies (no refined carbs)?

OK-I am giving up on my Crock Pot. I feel like it dulls the flavor of the food. I just had my Orange Chicken and it didn't turn out well. I think Orange Chicken is something to treat like a splurge to eat the real thing now and again. Man, I just used 2 lbs. of boneless, skinless chicken breast, thinking I'd only have to cook tonight. I guess I will suck it up and eat it this week, because I hate wasting food, but this recipe was so unappetizing. I feel sick for eating it. :grumpy::hungover:

Figgy, she said that it was rainy and cold. She doesn't need to stock up on sunscreen, you silly goose! :p :D
Ha!! I do for FLORIDA!!! Less than 3 weeks until we're state-side...34 days until Disney!
Fun side note, I had to buy a couple of extra bags today because my "For Disney" corner is overflowing. It looks like a vacation supply store exploded in my bedroom. Disposable rain ponchos, waterproof phone bags, glow sticks, sunscreen, lightweight backpacks, flavorings for water...I've just been tossing things in that corner for months because it wouldn't fit in the bag anymore. So now I have new bags to put it all in!
Taking a rest day. My hip started bugging me a bit at work last night and I have to work again tomorrow. Slowly building up...I don't want to overdo.

He does eat some lean meat but mostly veggies, beans and whole grains but much less carbs than he used to. He also went gluten free and that was a big help, not to mention no more tummy troubles. Seeing 3 out of the 4 of us we're all gf now and I don't have to worry about cross contamination:)

Good morning some Zumba and detox yoga this morning. I still don't get how all the twisting helps but my abs feel it so it's all good. The food processor is my friend today I'm shredding carrots, cucumbers, beets and then making salsa and guacamole to top salads with:hungry: Tonight's dinner greens and beans lentils, onions, green beans, mushrooms, chard and diced tomatoes in the pressure cooker. Today easy is the way to go:D BTW I hope the rain stops soon so I can get in a walk

Oh that's disappointing to hear about your recipe. In my case, I love my crock pot. Putting all the things in it and cooking low for hours makes food come out way more tastier, than I can cook on the stove myself. I think the trick with crock pots involves some trial and error, in that spices, etc., may have different proportions from regular cooking on the stove. Don't throw out your crock pot--give it another chance--maybe a different recipe?

Yes, mom! ;) I am catching up on laundry (frought with peril!) and I cleaned out my "disney corner" and sorted it all out. Now all the tech gadgets like external batteries and charging cords and headphone splitters are in one bag, all the bulk stuff to take a little bit each day (glow sticks, rain ponchos, wet napkins) is in another, and all the backpacks, water bottles, etc are in the 3rd. We're good to go. I get stuff done without taxing my hip and all is well with the world. I just have to get through choir tonight, but we only do light dancing and I can sit out of Uptown Funk if I need to. (There's a lot of side-stepping in that one, which tends to hurt more than forward steps)

That does not sound fun to deal with, but at least they DID something. When we flew in 2010, we had a 7 hour delay, they lost one of our kids' car seats, they broke one of out suitcases, and we missed our connecting flight, so they shoved us on a 3 hour bus ride instead of a 45 minute flight, where everyone but us was given food because we were still waiting for the darn car seat that they kept swearing was coming out in just a minute....so everyone was on the bus eating, and we got on and they had given our share out to the others on the bus. We got ZERO compensation. HORRID customer service.
I'm glad nothing was missing! But wow...only 4 hours to report missing items? That's not very long. Did you only have one suitcase total?

No, it wasn't that bad. Plus, I found out they will replace my bag once I submit the incident report and provide other info. The good news is I have found it much cheaper than when I bought it a year ago. I had spent the previous night and the morning sick to my stomach from something I ate at the beach and I just wanted to get home to my bed. I was not angry, but exasperated. The agent was much nicer than I expected her to be, too. I will still fly Southwest, what happened was just a freak thing. There was someone in line behind me who had her bag destroyed, too.

But your situation...wow. I would have been so livid. That is so wrong-- losing car seat, breaking a suitcase and giving your food away so you had nothing to eat on a 3 hour coach ride! I can't believe you were not compensated for that. Airlines are so hit and miss w/r/t their customer service.

We only packed one bag between us. I did laundry while we were there. It reminded me of dorm living. LOL

I think you're right and I think "Paleo Orange Chicken" is probably not the best recipe, either. :hilarious: I have found it works well when I sear meats first and when I sauté things like onions, bell peppers, garlic and spices before adding them. I love it for the vegetarian curries I used to make. But this was not good, the chicken was dry and the sauce gave me indigestion. :depressed:

The worst thing for us was that it was a 9 hour flight from Orlando to Amsterdam and then we were supposed to have a connection to Dusseldorf Germany. The flight was originally supposed to leave at 5pm, and with an international flight, you had to check in 3 hours in advance, and then they delayed the flight 7 hours. So we had been at the airport since something like 1:30 p.m., finally boarded at midnight...there was no way for the kids to nap. So there I am with an EXHAUSTED 2 year old and 4 year old...after being in airports or planes for nearly 24 hours. They gave each of us a $15 meal voucher for Orlando airport, so the last time the kids had eaten was 5 Orlando time about 15 hours before. (they were sleeping when the meal cart came by, so they missed that meal.) Tired, cranky, hungry 2 and 4 year olds on a bus is NOT good. Plus, Germany has a law against traveling children without car seats, and since they had lost the one car seat, we'd have been stuck once we got to Germany. We were SOOOOO lucky. The bus happened to go past a gas station outside of Zevenaar, which is only 15 minutes from my in-laws', who also had car seats for the kids. So we called them up, the bus stopped long enough for us to pass the kids on to oma and opa, who took them to McDonalds...it was around 7pm Dutch time by then, so they just took the kids and fed them and put them to bed while we rode back to Dusseldorf to pick up our car. But while we were waiting at the Amsterdam airport for the carseat that never came, Husband was running back and forth between baggage carousels because they kept telling him "Oh, no, it's coming out on this one...oh wait no....that one" while I was standing there holding my 2 year old and singing to him to get him calm, while my 4 year old fell asleep in my 2 year old's stroller. I think I had to stand there holding him and singing for close to 2 hours by that point. We were starving, but the lady told us there was no time to eat, they were waiting for us on the bus, but not to worry, they had sandwiches and drinks for all of us (there were about 30 of us). So then to get on the bus and have them say "Oh, yeah, sorry...we already ate those."...I was livid. Thank the Lord for my In-laws....at least the kids got fed and got to bed and didn't have to go any further. Trip from a VERY hot place, and then to not get any compensation when we turned in the claim...then they FINALLY got the car seat in to Germany after we had left....they wanted us to come and pick it up! Hubby called and said "Fine, but I'm supposed to be at work on Monday, and I'm an engineer and my time is worth about 100 Euros per hour...and it's a 2 hour drive there. So...you can either pay to ship the carseat that YOU lost to us, OR, you can pay me 400 Euros for my time plus gas to come and pick it up, OR you can buy us a new one and have it shipped directly to us. Your choice." They paid to send it to us. I think after that fiasco, we are due for a flawless trip this time, right?

That's just ridiculous. Good for your husband for telling them his time was valuable and making them pay to ship the car seat. Wow, that is cheeky--trying to get you to pay for a car seat they lost. Yes, I do think you're due for a seamless, issue-free trip to the US. :)

Don't get mad... I'm just asking this question... Is it possible that something was accidentally left out? Or accidentally added in incorrect quantities?

Troubleshooting a recipe doesn't make me mad. LOL (Telling me to shove pixie dust up my backside, like another poster did in another thread does.) :hilarious:

I had my iPad on the recipe and I followed it to a T. I think it's just best for me to accept that "paleo" orange chicken is never going to match the flavor of regular orange chicken, so maybe I had unrealistic expectations. It was frustrating, because I came back from running errands and my house smelled so good. Then, I ate it and was let down. I guess it was just a dud. Live and learn.

Hello-

I went for a walk outside. I was going to lift weights, but I have been up and down stairs all day. I've been putting things in totes and storing them in the basement, so my house doesn't look so cluttered when people come to view it. That was my strength training. Plus, I just need some time away from the house.

By this time, tomorrow, the contract period for the house will be complete, so I won't have to worry about someone buying it from underneath us. Our closing date is August 17. I will be so glad when we are all in the same place again. My husband started this job mid-May and has been flying home every weekend since then (except for last week when we flew to him to go house hunting.) :)
