working out for Disney

It really depends on who is working the security on that day. I've had some let hubby and I go together through the line for either the Netherlands or the US because one of us has a passport for it, and I've had some who said we either had to separate and go through alone, or both through the foreigners line. I suppose maybe it also has to do with how busy they are. If it's a low volume day, sending an extra person through the citizen line is no biggie.
Do you have both an American and UK passport for your son then? I've thought about getting US passports for the kids, but it doesn't seem necessary and it would cost us over 500 Euros per kid to get documents translated, pay processing fees, etc. If we were MOVING to the US, obviously I'd do that, but just for a couple of trips back and forth, it's not worth paying 1000-1500 euros when they don't necessarily need it.

And some people are just total bureaucrats who follow the rules to a T and will never deviate from them. LOL

Yes, my husband did all the paper work for my son's passport. We travel there once a year and it ended up being handy when my husband was transferred there. I don't even know how much it costs. I think it was a point of "national pride" for him, too. I have dual US/Republic of Ireland citizenship and I never got my passport. My husband is always hounding me to get it. I think once we are settled in NJ, I will. I feel like I have been moving around a lot since late '14. LOL

Yeah, it's definitely handy. I've thought about getting Dutch citizenship....I could. I've passed all my tests and such, but my understanding is that there are some countries with which you can get dual citizenship with America, but the Netherlands isn't one of them. So I would have to give up my American citizenship to become a citizen here and I'm not willing to do that. If anything should ever happen to my husband, I'd want to be able to go back to the US where I could get a decent job.

Oh....I thought that was called DAS? I'm so confused!

They changed it, because people were abusing the old system. I think now you don't get immediate access to the ride, but you get a return time assigned to you. There was a long thread in N&R when they changed it. It was disappointing to see some people think the only disabilities that matter are the ones you can see.

Amazingly, I got very little rain from last night's weather event. We were situated in between 2 storm cells that dropped a lot of rain. but we only got lightning, some rain and thunder in the distance--never a full on storm. I was so relieved not to have to go into my basement, under the stairs. I call my basement "Spidertown." The worst of the storms hit south and west of us.

Hello-

I went for a walk tonight. I was sore from yesterday's workout, so a walk seemed like the perfect way to get a bit of exercise while not causing myself additional pain. I just wanted to get moving. I had my hair cut and colored, so I was sitting in one place for two hours. My husband is on a flight home right now, so i will sleep like a baby tonight. Unfortunately, the carpet cleaner who always comes 30 minutes earlier than he says he will is coming tomorrow at 8. He can call me at 7:30 and ring my doorbell, but he ain't gettin' in this house until 8 AM. :P

I like tofu. I'll eat it plain or cooked, or in any other variation. You see (because you've never tried it), there is not much flavor in it; rather, it will take on the flavors of the food around it (such as in a stir fry--you'll taste the teriyaki sauce, for example). It's also versatile. Do you know that there is a baked tofu cheesecake that tastes very good? (No, I'm not just making that up, either!) :)

Around here people never arrive early, or on time for that matter. If you arrange for someone to arrive at 8 a.m. to clean the carpet, do some yard work, paint, plumber etc...there is no need to even look for them before 9:30 or so. Now if it is the phone/internet people, they don't even try to show up until some random time the next day. Guess it is a southern thing.
We have some friends the same way. They never arrive at the agreed time. Well, they did once for a cook out, and I had not even started the grill, because they are usually always at least an hour late, so we just started telling them to get here by say 5 p.m. if we are planning to eat by 6. That way, when they come rolling in at 6, that is actually when we expected them.

The carpet cleaner is here. He talks non-stop about conspiracy theories. I'm glad my husband is here. He stops cleaning the carpet to talk about these things.

He just mentioned "contrails." Apparently, this why there is so much violence in Chicago.

I really like it, too. It's really good marinated in a mix of lime juice, soy sauce and sesame oil--so savory. I do want to try the cheese cake.

I have a few family members who are late all the time. I just serve dinner at the time I have designated and they get whatever is left over. Maybe that sounds harsh, but why should they dictate what time I serve Christmas or Thanksgiving dinner in my house? LOL
