Well everytime I have been to Epcot, it was dead empty during the day and packed at night only for the fireworks, plus it is the only park to do fireworks on a nightly basis. Plus I've said it before, and I'll say it again, Epcot had the biggest drop in attendance of anything themepark in Orlando

It doesn't have to be on everyone's list. You can't satisfy everyone. It's just not possible. I enjoy thrill rides, but I also enjoy Spaceship Earth, and make sure I go on it every time I'm at WDW.

I agree with the Grizz-meister on this one. You have thrill rides in Mission: Space and Test Track. I'd like to see something done with the WoL pavillion, but it doesn't necessarily have to be thrilling.

Despite the drop, EPCOT is still at number 2.

And, NATURALLY, everyone is inside during the day...and outside for the fireworks...(they don't pop up just for Illuminations, I'm sure they've been there at least half-day if not full day.)

So I don't understand.

Perhaps check factual attendance figures over the past twenty one years...and not observations.

I have seen the actual figures, I also noticed the nice jump Islands of Adventure had last year

The point is not to make EPCOT like IOA, despite its drastic superiority in guest attendance. The point is to make EPCOT what it stands for and keep IOA what it is.

Disney is its own company. EPCOT is its own park. My advice is simply to stick to what you want, that doesn't hurt, at IOA. Give it more attendance, perhaps. And let us EPCOT folk continue to find a balance.

Are we happy?

Believe me I know not everything has to be thrilling, infact I love some very not thrilling rides, cat in the hat, jungle cruise, tea cups, etc. but the things at Epcot are just so borning, SSE is snooze time, same with that show in America. Now I dont want to sound like I absoluetely hate Epcot, cause I only sorta hate it, now if I had passes I would go, just to ride TT and M:S, then go, especially since Tapestry has been gone, but if they balance their thrills with their boring stuff it would be a much better park

Heh Heh... this is one statement that has no factual support whatsoever. Actually I guess Magic Kingdom is as true to that statement as you get. MK has very mild thrills btw.

EPCOT is one of the most visited and loved parks on the planet regardless of thrills or not. I think Test Track was an "appropriate" move though because of the lacking of any real teen experiences.

Yes, EPCOT does need some enhancements and upgrades, but many people find excitement and thrills in discovery and learning just as much as adreneline. Not sure about you but I remember the first time I rode to Sea Base Alpha, that was a very memorible experience. Or actually getting to ride inside Spaceship Earth. Or walking through the Rainbow tunnel at JIYI. Yea, EPCOT must change and the Test Track cars zooming by are exciting as well, but variety is the spice of life. Each park needs to maintain it's overall theme. EPCOT is culture and technology first and foremost. Magic Kingdom is Youth and Magic. MGM is Shows and the essence of Hollywood. Animal Kingdom is Preservation and "the Circle of Life". Thrills can fi into any of those, but if it dominates then you end up with just another Amusement Park, nothing more nothing less. This is a huge reason a coaster Kingdom will never exist. An amazing coaster park by Disney would be just that... an amazin coaster park. A park on coasters and thrills... there is no long term memories being made, no magic, nothing special or different from everyone else. Sorry, i'm getting off subject bad.

If you remember back, Body Wars was the BIGGEST hit. I mean...it was wild. HUGE lines.

Just over ten years later, Mission Space is the craze.

Here's the problem. If you center a park on thrill rides, things will phaze out. So invest 100 million dollars every ten years in one thrill ride. . . with further competition by other theme parks (IOA) that will ultimately suffer based on this very notion.

In ten to twenty years, will the simulator Mission Space have low attendance rates just like Body Wars? Most of us think not. But think about 1989.

Meanwhile, the slow rides, American Adventure, Spaceship Earth, Universe of Energy, Land, etc, have maintained CONSTANT guests since 1982. (YES..the GREENHOUSE TOUR after 21 years draws hour long waits.) That shows the ultimate strength. Thrill can only support.

Well let me look back, I do remember the first time I went on SSE and got off more bored then when I go on, I dont remember riding any rides for the first time except for Test Track cause that was fun. I personally remember my first time on the Hulk, how that was fun, and something very enjoyable

I really dont ever see this happening at Islands, has too big of a fan base, and it really is too enjoyable

Oh boy....

Tell me we're not having the Epcot vs. Thrill Rides discussion.

:brick:

Remember, variety is the spice of life. It's all about the mixture of different types of rides. Slow rides are good, thrill rides are good, educational rides are.......well....ok, they're good too.

If you actually got something from the hulk that stayed with you and you can reflect on from time to time then great. I love a ride like Hulk at the moment and then move on. Is it a great ride... yes. Is it an overwhelming memory.... for most no. The one outside Disney exception for me is Spider-man. My point was... just because you get nothing from certain things found at EPCOT doesn't mean that many more aren't. See what I'm saying. :animwink:

yea, but there is a big difference. I remember watching a special about WDW and they mentioned that when Epcot opened they had a very hard time trying to get people to come to Epcot. Islands of Adventure has never had this problem

No, no, no... I was commenting on your IoA comment. It started doing better when Halloween Horror Nights was moved.
