Wonders of Life to close?

DMC-12

It's HarmonioUS, NOT HarmoniYOU.
If they are going to close it.... I hope they do it right, meaning:

1) Gut it

2) tear it down (or not)

and

3) put something good in its place, OPEN YEAR ROUND, FOR GUESTS.

But....
I see this happening though: Closed, Like Millennium Village, Odyssey, upstairs at Imag. Pavilion. And only used for "private" and "CM" special events. *sigh* another pavilion taken away from Epcot guests. :(

I hope the thing doesn't completely change. I like the pavillion and it has a good theme. I hope it keeps the health theme. I think the things that should be done are:

Give it a good rehab

Update Body Wars and make it more thrilling

update cranium command with new film and AAs.

Please don't make it seasonal!!!!:(

Exactly.

And if they do change it, none of this Toy Story, KINGDOM HEARTS (*twarts JE*), or unpeaceful bit. And keeping the area MUCH MORE (as it is) than a (possible, and better!) thrill ride.

Spidey, I would prefer it to close when Disney (1) knows what it's doing for sure - ASSUMING these acts are in accordance to the above and (2) cater to the same guests while increasing traffic.

To quote the daughter of an Imagineer, "Disney's cheap. But it sure costs a lot."

Heh, I knew that. The whole Kingdom Hearts thing was just a joke, Ursus.

Keep it good, original, educational, and entertaining...those are all the high points for a good EPCOT attraction. Let's just hope Disney remembers to do it that way.

During our last visit in September, my 3 year-old had a great time at WoL. His inquisitive little mind sponged up everything it could, especially since many exhibits were heavy "hands on".

This news saddens me alittle.......

i agree. i liked the little food stand inside.
:slurp: if they moved it somewhere else i'de be very happy to see everything else go!

i like the idea of moving the carousel of progress into there..
i never got to go on horizons when i visited when i was little, and by the time i got back it was closed, maybe a newer version? or a coaster? just some ideas.

When we were in there 2 wks (or so) ago there was like nobody in there. I do like Cranium Command but it is VERY outdated. We were the only ones laughing in there too. The little hands on stuff can be done at Science and Industry Musuem. (hey it helps to live around these things) I can't even remember when we last saw The Making of Me. The longest line in there is the concession stand. How sad. I just hope they replace it with something worthwhile. Oh the possibilities are endless...

It's a weird situation.

When I heard about this a couple days ago, my immediate response was "What in the world are they gonna do with it?".

The answer, from a good source........."Good question. I'm not sure even they know."

Curiousier and curiousier.....

Or sadder and sadder....I just hope they use this space wisely in the future...seasonal openings are just rediculous....

"Revised Operating Schedule for Wonders of Life Pavilion at Epcot
Beginning January 5th, the Wonders of Life pavilion at Epcot will operate on a seasonal basis. The attractions in the pavilion - Body Wars, Cranium Command, and the Making of Me - will be available during periods of anticipated peak attendance. The quick service dining and merchandise locations in the pavilion will cease operations."

Information from Intercot.com; "WDW newsletter major New England travel agency " - thanks to "ffrda."

I don't know what to think, but i'm pretty exicted. I hope they'll redo the area soon, and put in a pavillon called "Wonders of Time", and put in Time Racers in there...

This is so weird. I was in WDW at thanksgiving this year and I brought my video camera so I could record all of my favorite rides. I got such things as It's A Small World, Timekeeper, Food Rocks and Carousel of Progress. I recorded the last three just in case they close in the future. As we were sitting down to watch cranium command my mother looked at me and jokingly asked if i wanted to record it also, but i said no b/c at the time i didn't think it was going to close. if i had only known. I love CC, especially the corny outfits and 80's hairdo's shown in it.

As we were walking around WOL afterwords i noticed how run down everything was. some of the bikes with the TV monitors were down, and the station with the optical illusions was very beat up. There were cracks in it, paint chipping off of it, and just general signs of wear.

I think the pavillion is a breath of fresh air in the park, especially when it gets crowded and I vote to keep it, maybe close it down and give it a good rehab, but don't close it. Epcot is not about the high thrill rides, its about education culture and seeing the impossible.

Anticipated peak attendance!?!?! I was there Thanksgiving Day, supposedly one of the big days of the year for the parks, and Body Wars and Cranium Command were WALK ON and they were yelling for people tocome into The Making of Me.

Just close the thing up and tear it down, forget the seasonal operations.

They're always walk-on, but there's always a decent crowd when I go per attraction.

Come to think of it, it's great to have an attraction that doesn't have a line. . . versus M:S, Living with the Land, Maelstrom, M:S. Gives you something to do with Fastpass, you know?

Cranium Command has been a must do for us, and I really liked the smoothies at the food stand. My son loved all of the interactive stuff. But all in all, I agree with most that the pavilion needs help.

Its too late to rehab, its too far gone, plus the subject is not that interesting, Disney should do whats right and tear it down and move on..
Life is not that interesting? C'mon now. Don't confuse the way the current pavilion handles the topic with the potential the topic actually has.

As others have said, going seasonal means nothing is going to be added until it completely closes. I don't understand being happy that something is essentially closing without a replacement. Indifference maybe, but I don't see how a closed pavilion does anything to enhance anyone's experience.

The real issue is just that Epcot went too long without any real capital being invested in the place.

I don't see simply closing (almost) pavilions as the best way to deal with the situation.

here's my 2 cents

Bulldoze the entire thing
and make the: Future of Yesterday pavillion
Inside:
Complete exact but edited and updated versions of JII, Horizons, WoM (edited and updated, I mean for Horizons: Imax screens would be small enough to fit in area and for WoM: currently new future cars added)

The pavillion could hold them all if they were manipulated in the right way (directions the ride went after each scene could be changed so that they would together almost like a puzzle) and one ride could be on the second floor

OR

The inside could be Figment's Imaginative Journey Through Motion and the Future, where all 3 rides would be combined as if placed in a blender.
