Wonders of Life to close?

Also, let us not forget the concept of "Show" which was the #1 priority for Disney parks once upon a time (after safety, of course).

A closed attraction or pavilion is bad Show. If its unpopular, fix it. But you don't close it and do nothing.

Yes, closing a pavilion because it doesn't provide the profit margin you are shooting for is a valid business strategy. Its just not the business strategy that made Disney different, and brought us together in the first place.

Although I agree that a pavilion being closed is "bad show", I honestly think WOL in its current state is even "worse show", especially with it trying to be an educational pavilion, yet so outdated in its message. WOL is a nice pavilion and I desperately want a pavilion dedicated to the human body and the "wonders of life" to remain in Epcot. As much as the next person I want Disney to re-do the entire pavilion. But at this time, expecially considering the millions already being poured into each park at this time for new attractions, I don't see that happening anytime soon and I think it is better closed, even if only seasonally, until they can do something with it.

By the way Grizz, I like some of your ideas for a re-do :)

Education is like a textbook, it's only as good as what's inside of it. It dosn't matter if it's golden or nice and has lots of history. If the textbook is outdated, then it has lost it's value. That's what's happened to WoL. That's what's happened to Communicore. It didn't happen to Horizons since it delt with the future through the eyes of the family.

Yeah, good point. It seems that in many cases instead of upgrading Smithsonian-esque type of educational portions of pavilions the Imagineers have been told to focus on speed. :hurl:

This isn't the case everywhere, for instance Spaceship Earth has had subtle upgrades made to it. But i don't think we can compare Spaceship Earth to the what else goes on in FutureWorld because of what it represents.

Well it looks like I'll be spending alot more time at WoL than I am used to. To heck with Mission Space, I'll definately be riding Body Wars 20 times this trip! Man when it opened up WoL was THE place to be at Epcot. It had Epcot's first thrill ride, a wonderful show, and MANY special "little" things to do. It was a pavilion in every since of the word. But sadly it's also probably the last pavilion to ever be in Epcot. As, I'm sure, some of you can tell I'm all about nostalgic WDW. The less popular something gets usually the more I like it. If I do nothing else on this next trip, I'll ride Body Wars at least 20 times and I'll see Food Rocks at least 5 times. But I do hope that they keep WoL open seasonally. If they close it down they won't add anything new there for quite a while so it's better to have something than nothing.

Hopefully which ever way they go with this, WoL theme will remain. Unfortunately, I don't see it happening. Without a MAJOR sponsor (like HP for M:S), Disney has been known to drop the ball under Eisner in creating quality rides. Given it would probably take a health insurance company or drug maker to sponsor the current theme, Disney may find their choices limited and decide to put in a cheap ride just to make Eisner's pocket fatter. If they don't line up a sponsor, I think they will keep the pavilion instead of building a new one (cheap cheap cheap). But who knows, maybe Eisner can suprise me for once. I highly doubt it, but who knows. :hammer:

It's a serious shame WOL will close, because they have a 1 or a kind attraction. Body Wars is the ONLY theme park attraction in the entire world directed by Leonard Nimoy! They must not fully think through their decisions because I find it completely illogical. Oh the sadness...

ok, I do understand the fact that there are a selected few of you who love and charish this attraction. I can see how Disney sees it, there is never anyone there, so why have it open, it makes sense, right? Maybe if the few of you who loved this thing so much went there everyday to make it's attendance look a tad bit better then maybe Disney would think for minute of keeping it open. I think right now it makes sense and untill things improve they will stay this way.

It also doesn't make sence to operate it seasonally! I don't see that boosting attendance: "Come to Epcot where some of our attractions are closed!!! It's a one of a kind experience!":hammer: :hammer: :hammer:

There aren't a "FEW" fans. Wonders of Life, while not the most blasting, fasting, thrilling place in the world, DOES have a large fanbase. Talk to the Cast Members. . . see how many people are going through. And Cranium Command is a "guest favorite," heralded as the best "hidden attraction" in EPCOT. Really, it's not as bad as it seems to be.

Heck, if every attraction was five minutes and had a two hour wait (and would potentially screw up my body), why the heck would I go to EPCOT?

yea, there are so many fans of this attraction that is almost completely empty everyday. That right there sounds like a great reason to keep it open all the time

You're right. Only fast-moving quick thrill rides make up the best of the Disney attractions. How could Wonders of Life POSSIBLY have fans? That would be ludicrous!

Let's get to work!

Michael72688, there is a lot more to a great ride than the speed it reaches! Call me crazy but this is my opinion (a teenage coaster fan speaking!):hammer: :dazzle: :hammer:

Thats not what I said, infact I love a ton of rides at Disney that arent thrill, mad tea cups, indy, buzz, dumbo, etc. But WoL is just really dull and boring, so it makes sense, no one goes, close it down

But atleast do somthing to it, like rehab it and make it better than keeping it closed indefinately. It would be such a waste of space!!!

I agree, just looking at it, it looks out dated, so make some much need changes it would be much better
