Wonders of Life to close?

I'm all for replacing the entire pavillion. Body Wars is completely useless to me, Cranium Command is cute, and would be a nice add-on if they put it in a new pavillion or somewhere else. But I won't lament it's demise.

I think the "seasonal" thing was so they have the ability to have the place open for the BIG holiday weekends. I think they won't announce an official closure UNTIL "Soarin" is up and running.

Since Living Seas is up in the air as to when the makeover will happen, and how long it is down for, I don't think they want part of the Land, Living Seas AND Wonders all down at the same time.

This way they can at least stagger it to have room for people.

But what the heck do I know. They could close the whole thing tommorow and make this all a moot point.

Since alot of you guys have talked about what you like in WoL I thought I would do the same. I do like Body Wars and Cranium Command, but I always find my self on one of the exercise bikes with the tv monitor in front of you. You know the one, it either has footage from MK or Disneyland on it. And the rate at which you peddle dictates the speed of the video. If this pavillion does go away I would love to get my hands on one of those say on eBay or something.

I'll miss the pavillion. I can remember as a kid waiting an hour or more for Body Wars. Those days are long gone. Now the pavillion is just a good place to run to when it starts to rain. I'll miss the music to the pavillion (if anyone knows where I can get the BGM, let me know :)) and I'll miss Cranium Command.

My feelings on this issue:

Yes... WoL is old and outdated, but I'd SO much rather see an old, outdated OPEN pavilion than a old, decomposing CLOSED pavilion.

All this seasonal stuff bugs the life out of me... Either leave it open year round for ALL guests to enjoy or trash the place and build something new.

Just to throw my two cents in, I thought Cranium Command was cute, but I've never really made an effort to make sure to see it. It was always an afterthought. I thought Body Wars was a well done 'Inner Space' type ride, but I was left with an aching back every time I rode it.

The last time I was in that nearly empty building, I just thought to myself "It must cost Disney a fortune too keep this building open."

Hopefully, something is on the drawing board to redo or replace it. It pains me to walk past darkened, empty attractions (10000 leagues, CoP, Timekeeper, etc).

Well, I don't have anything against Body Wars, specially if you consider it was the first of its kind. I still think it works pretty well.

What kills me is that I may never get to see Cranium Command. My next trip will be the first with enough English to allow me to understand that. I mean, I'm not counting my CP trip, cause the only time I went to Epcot I was on a date and she was leading the way...

And what is "The Making of Me"?

I am truly saddened to hear this news. I hear a LOT of rejoicing about the subject- that Wonders of Life needs rehab, but there's one point that's leading me to think that this rejoicing is for basically nothing:

If Cranium Command, Body Wars, and The Making of Me are open seasonally, the rest of the pavilion cannot go under rehab.

In other words, the pavilion would SIT THERE in lonliness, only to cut back on the Sensory Funhouse, Goofy About Health, etc.

This is NOTHING to rejoice over.

However, if the entire pavilion goes down, AND PEOPLE ARE IN THERE WORKING - that's something I would find positive - assuming that the pavilion keeps its peaceful atmosphere and originality outside of "THE CHARACTERS" (*cough* TOY STORY *cough*).

Otherwise, we are promoting an open, peaceful, and informative area of EPCOT to sit there. . . unchanged??

I've been awaiting this sad news for several years now. . . and this December I'll plan to spend half the day in the Wonders of Life pavilion.

I'm all for the remodelling of it, not to tear it down. I remember when it first came out how cool it was ... I went 1 more trip after that and haven't been since. Placing an exploration portion with a movie portion with a ride portion seems like the logical idea to me.

I do agree with others that it's better to close and stay closed than to open and close periodically. I would hate 20,000 Leagues to be closed some of the time and then have the subs sitting there the rest of the time and not be able to ride it. To me... WoL was never up to par with the Original Pavilions.

Disney should do what's right - for what is right is what we intend, but this is different for each person - and keep the area informative and educational.

1. Up the quality (meaning, don't DARE take away from the #s of AAs)

2. Enhance the thrill attraction (meaning, create a new version - Storm Rider??)

3. KEEP THE THEME - do NOT detract from health!!

4. Keep the layout: Interactive (Always upgrade!), Animatronics show, Thrill Ride

Tearing down the attraction for a giant thrill ride, instead of its current ingenious design of combination of thrill AND family attractions, would destruct the EPCOT dream even further.

And what the heck does this have to do with Time Racers? Time Racers is the designed post show for Spaceship Earth.

(How can we ask for something if we don't even know what it is??)

Well, I don't know what to think about this...

I like CC and BW a lot and do them every trip, but having them opened seasonally wouldn't matter because I don't know if I could plan for that. Plus, as Grizz stated the rest of the building would be left to rot if they kept those three open, unless they wall off the center area and work on that(Since Body Wars and CC's enterances and exits are off to the walls, but I don't know about Making of Life because I never went on it and I don't know where it's enterance is-_-. That wouldn't work anyway because having every thing else blocked off would look ugly...so I don't know what to say...)

Just curious if there are attractions at Disney you do not like and would promote leaving or being replaced.

I know you are a huge defender of the integrity of the disney way, but sometimes things do need to go when they are no longer exciting and/or popular (despite fan wants or needs). As much as I miss Horizons and World of Motion, I feel that Test Track and M:S are worthy replacements. Are there rides you could see go without any sadness tied to it? If not, that's ok, but it has to happen, I don't see this news about WoL as a big deal... I really don't. Of course everyone has different likes and dislikes.

I totally agree, times change and the rides and attractions need to also

Spidey - you're mistaking me in the same way that hundreds of WDWMagic guests have.

I am NOT against the Wonders of Life pavilion closing and being refurbished/changed/etc.

If anything, I would gut the entire pavilion and start from stratch.

Why am I upset that WOL is closed??

Because of the long-term rumors that TOY STORY CHARACTERS will be invading. This is totally inappropriate, despite their worth as attractive characters.

If it were my choice, throw in Storm Rider, a Body Wars inverted roller coaster, but at the same time, keep the originality and educational value of these attractions. If it were my choice, I'd replace Cranium Command with an attraction that only increases the value of the current show.

Not closing off areas (the JII image works) or totally throwing them out of place (Tiki UNM).

And not making the area disruptive and unfuturistic (WOL is quite peaceful, in foil to the noisy Test Track next door).

And not keeping it closed. To just sit there.

Does that make sense?

Yeah, I had a feeling you'd think keeping the rest of the pavillion closed off and rehabed while keeping CC, BW, and MoM open would be a bad idea. But at least they'd be doing some work to it.
Then again it would be ugly having almost all the pavillon being blocked off.

But I agree that if they're going this route maybe it'd be wise to gut it and put something new in.

Maybe a Kingdom Hearts tie-in attraction...*Gets thwapped by Ursus*

Heh sorry, I'm just on a KH high right now and I'd just like to see Disney promote it more aside from the toy line and the Innoventions exhibit that I don't know is even there anymore.

Besides WoL or the rest of EPCOT's not the best place for it since you can't really make an edcuational ride off a game where you go around fighting off heart stealing monsters using Keyblades...

OK, I understand Grizz. I think it's good that you posted that here to clear up the misunderstanding. :)

So, in this case, it's the method that you dislike, right? And the possibility that nothing may get done quickly?
