Earlier in this thread I and others attempted to figure that out. Minute by minute, shell by shell. Nobody seemed to care about really looking into it and/or describing what would satisfy them. Some said that they just didn't want a reduction in the number of shells as a trade for other effects, which is fine I guess. I'll make that trade personally. Still, most seemed content to just broadly complain that there would be fewer, that they would be less impressive, and that MK deserved better. Those people hadn't seen a single shell yet, they just jumped on the "everything's always a downgrade at WDW" bandwagon.

I've only had time to read the first and last 2 pages of the thread but I expected nothing less of the folks on this site. Thanks for quoting my post beacuse I caught several grammatical and spelling errors. It's a product of visiting this site mainly on my phone.

I get to see this in June and I am sooooo excited. I loved everything about Wishes and am going to miss it but this looks like it is gonna be great too. Can't wait.

If you notice they used several Disney singers in that choir from groups like voices of liberty and others.
I figured Exploder would have already chimed in and suggested the choir was made up of people pulled off the streets and asked to sing while getting 'paid' with a bowl of soup and maybe some oyster crackers. . . And I could have swore he said there would be little or no pyro, just projections, because, you know, Disney does everything on the cheap.

Right! It was a valid worry, especially when a show like SWAGS exists. Glad to see, for once, our fears were irrational

Exactly ... and Jingle Bell Jingle BAM wasn't exactly a knock it out of the park hit. And with SWAGS, I was disappointed because the Frozen fireworks were really well done, and I could care less about Frozen. They usually DO do a good job with fireworks but a few things have left us a little concerned. I too am glad to see they were unfounded with HEA.

The photos are pretty remarkable. I was extremely skeptical with how they've promoted the show so far, but I'm getting the feeling I'll have to take all those worries back!

Lets not get too carried away though.

Disneyland Forever had extremely impressive spotlights, and most people thought that the effects were awesome. But the show itself was complete trash. Luckily the soundtrack for the new show isn't nearly as bad/disjointed as Disneyland Forever. I hope the pacing and effects are as great as the shells and spot lights we've seen. Projections will be top notch too no doubt.

Oh don't you know that pretty much everything at Disney sucks right now. Everything new is trash as well.

The funny part is that he referenced SWAGS as some kind of example of a failure or something along those lines. Perhaps sightline wise SWAGS has (major) problems but otherwise it's one of my favorite night time shows I've seen at any of the Disney Parks. I'd rather they completely do away with the areal fireworks (and so would RCFD apparently). Go back to something closer to the Frozen show and you've solved those issues. Still, I wasn't aware people didn't like SWAGS beyond the poor sightlines (which aren't an issue if you're in the hub).

^ If you'd like to deem that portion of the show a failure because there aren't enough shells, then I apologize for taking your post out of context. I guess you don't find it to be "pretty phenomenal in all regards" if you don't care for the lack of pyro though. ;)

I still didn't know people were up in arms over the show though, maybe I just tuned the whining out. Goes to show what a truly sad state of affairs the sentiments are here if people dislike that show based on the type and amount of pyro used. As far as production value, I don't know what people want out of SWAGS beyond moving/adding more of the big shells. Otherwise, it's a fantastic show.

A huge word of warning about those still photos. The spotlights aren't really that brilliant. It's a lengthy shutter speed making things brighter than they are to the human eye. They look great in person, don't get me wrong, but if you've seen Once Upon a Time then you've seen some of those light banks and although the new show is much brighter than those but not as much as that's making it seem.

Just want to avoid everyone being disappointed that those (excellent) photos aren't entirely accurate because they're not. The new lights are fab, but they're not THAT fab. ;)

The show will not lack pyro at all actually, This is going to be one of the most pyro disney ever used in a show before, Now I do not have pictures of the fireworks but I got a picture of this. Magic kingdom Happily ever after Lighting tests:

Only a few think the sky is falling and Disney is going out of business. The rest of us see things more in the middle, not everything's wonderful and amazing but not everything's awful either. TDO doesn't exactly inspire a ton of confidence, even the few more positive ones can admit to that.

I can't speak for others, but I personally would love SWAGS if the pyro was up to the level of the Star Wars fireworks show that preceded the addition of the laser projections and moving the pyro over to the side. I don't remember if that was also called SWAGS or if it had a different name. Had I not seen the original version, I probably wouldn't have much of an issue with the current one. It's a pretty good show. The projections are cool but for me they don't make up for the variety of the fireworks and how well those were paired with the music. It was truly a spectacular show. I wish they could have kept that level of pyro and just added the projections to it. And it just bugs the crap out of me to have the fireworks that off center. Besides being aesthetically displeasing because of lack of symmetry, it really diminishes the available area from which to get a good view of the show.

That being said, I do agree they had to move the fireworks from where they were being shot off before. Closing down Pixar place during the fireworks and having to sweep the area for any burning shell remnants after the show was not very functional in a park that currently is low on the number of available attractions. We were trapped in a crushing throng of people for about a half hour after the show before they funneled us through the gate to animation courtyard and opened up the path toward TSMM. I don't think we could have gotten out of there if we had wanted to. Definitely made the wrong choice that night. Should have headed to RRC after the fireworks.

Of course my view is jaded because I prefer actual fireworks to the projection shows. Don't get me wrong, I think the projections are really cool and amazing technology and very pretty but I personally prefer enormous fireworks lighting up the entire sky. I also prefer a real wood fireplace to gas so maybe I am just a pyromaniac.
