It's a bit of a... sore subject. There was a 200+ page thread about PTN going to WDW, where every trusted/respected insider who posts here said it wasn't happening, but one poster insisted that he had "inside information" that it was. His sources? He talked to a DL tram driver. He read about it on Twitter. He even talked to... an on-stage "parade manager" at DL while he was removing masking tape from the street. All of those "sources" swore that PTN was moving to WDW. Even when someone here was able to see inside the warehouse in California where the parade floats were being stored after being refurbed, this one person insisted that he knew the parade floats were being boxed up and shipped to the swamps. Insider reports were posted on MiceChat that PTN would be debuting at DCA. Nope, PTN was coming to WDW. This person even got banned from this site (at least once) but came back with new name, posting the same drivel. He hasn't been heard from now in months.
Well, I was only wishing that it would happen, not saying that it would.. :)

Budgets for parade and fireworks were pooled into HEA.

Originally this year would have seen a modest Wishes refresh and the DEP.
It's a moot point, but did you have any info on Wishes' refresh before HEA got approved? I assumed if DL MSEP 2017 & HEA didn't happen, 2017 would be the same as 2016(before Oct of course)

Welcome to the Magic Kingdom, the laziest place on earth.

well, the sentiment certainly exists in some minds, though i have a hard time believing it's done with as much malice as ford would believe; however, certain decisions made do make one wonder o_O

regardless, think you'll find the truth is more akin to "if it ain't broke, don't spend the money to fix it"

not lazy per se, just business

Totally hear you. While PTN is good, I think a lot of us want a new parade for MK and not the usual TDO MO of, "Let's just 'borrow' a parade from Anaheim, run it into the ground over a number of years, and then give it back to them". If only there was a parade that was built specifically for MK, and was spectacular, with great floats and memorable music...

Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go listen to the audio from Spectromagic.

I'm in the group that would prefer something borrowed now, then brand new in the future.

In my opinion, it’s probably because of the removal of the “Christmas All Around Us” motif during certain segments of the show - but certainly not the finale. Just irks me only because it feels like some random ending with fan service to Wishes, instead of them taking that theme and building it up to that trademark emotional climax. (Listen to the soundtrack, and compare to the show today)
The show does suffer for the removal of those transitions. And with the 18-minute HEA on non-party nights, Holiday Wishes and Hallowishes would have really benefited from returning to their original length. They can afford the extra pyrotechnics.

Honestly, I’m happier with what we got. DEP would have needed MAJOR work to be up to modern standards, and I’d rather have a great fireworks show and no parade than an ancient parade and an aging show.

MK needed a big hit, and while more things to do are VERY necessary, I’m happy we didn’t end up with slightly better versions of what we already had for more than a decade. Granted, we should have both a new parade and HEA right now, but that’s another can of worms.

I guess I find it bizarre when other facets of the company do go that extra mile, but their supposed premiere park can't.

And Spectromagic was the only electrical parade that was created and exclusive to a US Disney Park.
