Give me a banana, some Hydralite, and then a protein shake and I am good to go.

And a pillow. At 1:00 am, I'll be ready to crash. No after-race party for me.

I find that very very hard to believe. I'm not doubting that you were told that, I just find it hard to believe. I definitely don't think that people will appreciate paying $35 to simply pay more to eat. Even if its just the countries, shouldn't that include Malstrom and Gran Fiesta Tour? And then conversely all the films? O' Canada, the American Adventure, etc?
Yeah, it's a shame the people in my party that aren't running will have to pay extra to get in. For what will be available, the tickets better not be any more than about $20. Heck, each runner should get 1 extra ticket for free with these offerings.Check out the Website. Instead of being called an "Epcot Afterparty," it is now called an "EXCLUSIVE AFTER HOURS EPCOT INTERNATIONAL FOOD & WINE FESTIVAL." BLAH!!
The Website
http://espnwwos.disney.go.com/event...ne-half-marathon/index?page=finish-line-party
states that "*Limited country pavilions, entertainment and attractions will be available due to Epcot® closing at 9 p.m. for day guests." When I called the event phone number, I was told that "attractions" meant the food kiosks and many photo opportunities. Very sad that this race is now a substitute for the ToT13K which had an awesome after party!!
So beware--the after party exxperience seems pretty lame!!

Blame the economy. How are sales going for the race? Probably way below expectations.
I think the 2010 half marathon was sold out by this time last year, but according to the Disney Endurance website, the 2011 half marathon is only at 50% capacity right now.

How is the W&D course around disney property, is it pretty flat running?
Property is pretty flat. Most of the hills tend to be the highway interchange ramps. I can't remember if the W&D course covers many of those, but most of the rest is flat. Especially compared to the hills of New England. ; )
I can't wait for this race, but I'm bummed about the "party". I told my wife and son that I'll have to meet them back at the hotel, I'm not paying for them to go to EPCOT with no attractions, that's just a waste.
I hope Disney learns from this, hopefully they are reading this forum.
You never know.....

Yeah, if the WS pavilions are open I'm hoping for Maelstrom and el Rio, if nothing else. I could probably do without the movies, as they'll likely put me to sleep at that time of night.
Wow. This is a bit disappointing... but my main goal was to participate and run in a Disney race. I would love to hit all the E-tickets late that night, but to be honest, this will be on the tail end of a 4 day vacation so I think Ill just go back to the resort and pass out.No, I emailed Disney and made a phone call to the event planners and they confirmed that Wine and Dine will not have any rides open. The attractions open are the countries themselves and the F&W Festival booths--but no shows/rides.
ToT13K had ToT, RnRC, Muppets, GMR, and Star Tours.
Everest has Everest, Dinosaur, Primevil Whirl, Tough/Bug, Kali Rapids.
Epcot is hosting a party where you get one 'taste" and one "drink" included in your price. Like I said--escargots and purple haze isn't exactly a perfect after race meal. Haha.
Future World should be open!
The slogan changed from the original "The Runner's Ultimate Night Out" to merely "The Runner's Night Out."
I will say though, after the Mercedes in Bham and the Talladega half (at the Talladega Super speedway) I did partake in a few of the freebie Mich Ultras afterwards. I put down a banana, orange or two and water, then went over to relax and have a beer. It was a great beer too.Wow, I have friends who were going to go to the after party. Now, I think not.
I was thinking the same thing about the booze. The last thing I want when dehydrated or volume constricted is alcohol.

I registered the other day for this event. I didnt get a confirmation email. I called the number that was on the print out confirmation and the operator said she saw my registration in the system. It sounded like she was not in a call center to be honest. Other then that, she was super rude and actually hung up on me without even saying goodbye after confirming my registration. Very odd.Ah, the kid gets to pick! Nice. Well, our young one is less than a year, so it's still our decision...for now. I'm sure we'll end up at the Contemporary. We have a really hard time passing it up.
We'll have a car, so we aren't worried about the transportation.
Welcome to those of you who are new to running in the World! Once you do your first race you'll be wondering what you've been waiting on all this time. It's such a blast, and the feeling after the finish line is as good as it gets, especially in this case, since it means your night has just begun.
We have been moved to PORS.. but I think we will still be happy.Hi jmaxwell007. I live in Birmingham, too. My wife and I are booked at Port Orleans French Quarter as well, although we have not registered for the race yet. We need to pull the trigger soon. For this race, we're just flying in on Saturday mid-morning and back to Birmingham on Monday evening, but we figured we'll have a great long weekend.
I have done a couple of the Mercedes half-marathons and also did the San Francisco Marathon in 2005 and the Disney Marathon in 2007 (very much a middle of the pack kind of runner). This will be my wife's first distance race. We're big Disney fans, so this seemed like the perfect opportunity to set a goal and put together (and sticking to) a training plan.
Thanks to those that got this sub-forum up and running. It's going to be tough to get work done knowing there's a discussion going on in here about running at Disney.

Question: did you get a email confirmation? Also, she said that there is a form we have to print and sign, but it wasnt on the website yet and to check back.
Yeah, I registered quite a while ago, but definitely DID get an official confirmation from active.com. There was no mention of any extra forms. Everyone has to sign a waiver when they go to packet pickup, but other than that, I have no idea what she was talking about.
I assumed they would have them at the packet pickup... I have always done them electronically.Yeah, I registered quite a while ago, but definitely DID get an official confirmation from active.com. I have never had a problem with Active.com... and I wish they did. I dont want to keep up with a form. I would assume they would have them at packet pickup too.I got 4 or 5 confirmations from Active, one for each event, as well as 1 for the pins. (Registered for both the 5k and the half)
The additional form is just the waiver. Those usually surface a month or so out at the most, maybe just a week or two beforehand. Guess Disney legal doesn't like the electronic signature for waivers.
