Hey
Congradulations. We stayed there and had a blast ! they usually have many activites going on. one time they brought animals to our lobby. and then another time they took out towels and folded them like animals. this is a GREAT hotel. and also we had friends who stayed at the grand floridian. and they stayed on the same floor Raven stayed on and she was filming something for the food network . there is a bus that goes from the WL to the GF so we got on the bus and followed her up and met and talked to her and her dancers for 2 hours
i hope you have a great and MaGiCaL trip

I'm just going to stay in a standard room but is there any standard room reccomendations? Like any particular rooms?

When you check in if they haven't bumped you to Couryard view and you are interested ask about it. They may just upgrade you at no extra charge. When we checked in the first time we stayed there they had upgraded us, no charge without us even inquiring. Courtyard view is nice, but others have said the woods view on the MK side is great too.

Hope you got my reply to your PM. As far as upgrades go, they do happen but we have never asked for them. We were upgraded 2 trips ago from woods view to Courtyard view because the room we wanted, 6032, wasn't ready. We ended up on the opposite side of the lodge and the room was just as nice, but it was very far away from the elevators.

I know a lot of people ask for upgrades, but I never would. I book the best room I can afford and enjoy my stay. If I get upgraded its just icing on the cake. (maybe I'm just too shy to ask...)

The first time we visited WDW we stayed at the Grand Floridian. The next time we visited I booked the Wilderness Lodge and before we got there my husband was mad! After staying at the WL he loves it and now doesn't want to stay anywhere else. We've stayed in both the hotel and the villas (we're DVC members) and both are beautiful. We're going back in February 2005 for our third stay at WL. You will have a great time!

You'll like it...

I didn't like the food at WL as much as AKL. The pool and rec. activities at WL are very good. The rooms were comfortable also. It's very relaxing. You'll like it.

This was, and still is, my favorite resort. Can't stay there as we normally have 5 to a room. Definitely check out the geyser, ask at the desk for the hidden Mickey hunt list, run over the bridge in the lobby at least 7-8 dozen times, read a book in the lobby at night while wearing your pj's and drinking a hot chocolate. Oh yes, the Wispering Canyon has some type of arrangement with heinz ketchup. Almost like beer with the born on date thing. They get ketchup like a day or two after it was made. Make sure you ask for some. :)

Have a great trip.

Three bits of advice from your average Canadian:
1. Get a refillable mug for your stay. It's definetely worth it.
2. Get all-you can-drink milkshakes at Whispering Canyon.
3. Go to Fort Wilderness' restaurant (of which I can't remember its name at the current time...) via boat from WL.
Have a magical trip!
*edit* Epiphany! It's Trail's End Buffeteria!

On the side closer to Mk, there is a standard view room with a view of the castle!! I'll let you know if I can remember the room number.

A few things you must do....
1. Ask about the Flag Raising Ceremony FIRST THING!
2. Be sure to find all the little nooks & crannies scattered through out the lobby. (Fire places and balconies)
3. Hidden Mickey Hunt
4. Swim in both pools
5. Rent a speed boat, you can take it to the Contemporary, Poly, GF and MK's front entrance. It offers a unique view of MK.
6. Re-fillable mug.
7. Whispering Canyon
8. Take adavantage of boat transportstion. It gives prefrence to WL guests of Fort Wilderness Guests. It travels to FW first in the morning then to the WL then to MK. In the afternoon, it travels to the WL first then FW.
9. Water Padgent
10. Take a good look at the lobby, it's beautiful.

Once you go, you can't go back to any other resort. I went there a few years ago, and go back every year. I'm hooked.

is there any age restrictions on the water crafts? I will be 22 when we go next april but my brother will only be 17 and when we tried booking trail rides he needed a parental signature. or do you think they will let us rent them even though he is under age and i am not a legal guardian. but being on teh water could give me some good photos :)i <3 photos lol my avatar is actually a picture i took last april its my fave of cinderella's castle

The official Disney line on watercraft is as follows:

Guests must be at least 12 years old and at least 5 feet tall to drive a Sea Raycer. At Magic Kingdom® area resorts, at least one person in the boat must have a valid driver's license. There is a maximum combined weight of 320 lbs permitted for a Sea Raycer, or 2 passengers. All drivers under the age of 18 MUST have a parent or legal guardian sign a release.

It does vary some, but I would believe your brother could get on with most CM's (after all it's not quite the same as drinking).

Or Catsup, as you might prefer.

Good note about the fresh ketchup. Everyone should remember to ask for ketchup at Whispering Canyon ;)

And extra straws... ALWAYS ask for extra straws.

Try the All You Care to Eat Breakfast Skillet in the Whispering Canyon... :slurp:

We were there last February and fell in love with WLV. I was just discussing with DH a trip back for President's week in 2006. We just have to hope that we can get ressies again since we don't own there.
