Next year after the trip with the family, me and the wife are planning to stay a couple extra days at the World just us two; and my wife wants to stay at either the Wilderness Lodge or Yacht Club.
We've never stayed at either, and would like to know from you guys which one you think is better and why? Thanks in advance!

I loved everything about the WL. The transportation was great (boat option to get to MK :D), really liked Roaring Fork for breakfast and grab-and-go snacks, the rooms were very comfortable (we stayed right off the lobby on the first floor.) We were originally trying to book the WL again for this December but it wasn't in the cards. I really, really look forward to going back there again!

As far as the Yacht Club I haven't stayed there but I know it's going to be that or the Beach Club because I love the proximity to Epcot.

I've never stayed at the yacht and beach club, but I am in a month. The one and only con about the lodge is the rooms sizes other than that it is perfect. On the other hand though the yacht club has incredible location and of course the best pool on property. Basically you can't go wrong with either. It should come down to how many times your going to the MK, if you plan on going to the MK multiple times than I would recommend the Lodge.

I have stayed at both and preferred the YC. We are not normally into the pools that much, but we made time to go to the pool at YC. It is awesome. Both resorts are nice though so you really can't make a bad decision on this one.

I've stayed at both.

Stayed at the WL 5 times, and will be again in February.
Stayed at the YC once, and actually left there early to go to another resort because we were so disappointed.

The Wilderness Lodge, to me, is the best themed resort on property. It also seem to be one of the best maintained. The YC did nothing for us theme wise. The transportation was lousy, and we had to walk for at least 15 minutes to get something to eat.

Plus, the Wilderness Lodge is about $100 cheaper per night.

TC for sure.
Location, location, location.
Especially if it's you and the wife.
Between Epcot, the Boardwalk, the Swan and Dolphin and HS, you have access to some of the best restaurants on property.
5-10 minute walk to Epcot. 10-15 minute boat to HS. 5 minute walk to Boardwalk.
There's always something to do when you stay on a Boardwalk property. Always.
Plus, The Pool!

Note, I am biased in that we ALWAYS stay at the YC...for the above reasons. And I have small children. Just can't beat the location and the walk to Epcot. Can't beat it.

Have fun.

Wilderness Lodge is one of my two favorite resorts on property. It's also one of the less expensive deluxe resorts so if you're trying to save a few bucks that might be a good option. That being said, if you plan on spending a lot of time in Epcot the YC is probably a better choice based solely on location. You can't beat a "private" walk up entrance to the park.

I don't know what you are talking about. We stayed there twice and the transportation was amazing. A 5 minute walk to Epcot. A 15 minute boat ride to Hollywood Studios. It was only a 8 minute bus ride to Animal Kingdom. The lobby is amazing at Yacht Club. The pool is the best on property. I seriously could go on and on about this hotel.

You will not be disappointed if you stay here.

We are actually shattered that we didn't get any rooms for AP-holders in the WL so we will not stay there during our oncoming trip in late September, early October.
So it's quite clear that there never would be a question ever which resort we would chose. The Wilderness Lodge is to us more than a hotel, it's our second "home". We love it more than any other disney resort. If you can stay there, do it!

I love Wilderness Lodge, although I haven't stayed at YC. We did have a meal at the Yachtsman and didn't like the atmosphere particularly, it was rather stuffy. Wilderness is very friendly and cosy, staff remember you and it is really friendly. Yachtsman has a great position of course - it's all down to choice but I wouod vote for WL every time.

I'm assuming since its just the two of you that you would want the most "romantic" of the two. Again, just assuming as I don't know how long you've been married:lol:

We just returned from WL last week and it was awesome, only complaint is the counter service restaurant was pretty lousy (only had lunch one day and the pizza and burgers were cafeteria food). The resort itself is beautiful and there are some romantic locations like Artist Point (signature restaurant) and the beach at sunset. Other than that, the great outdoors does not exactly light my fire if you know what I mean.

The Beach and Yacht club is great, it is a bit "stuffy" as one of the previous posters mentioned but I would prefer Yacht club if it were just my wife and I and not the kids (as we've done before). The location as to the World Showcase is excellent. The World Showcase is a perfect experience if it's romance you guys are looking for. Going in and out of the countries eating snacks, drinking drinks, going into shops and conversating is very nice. Also, the Boardwalk at night is romantic as is several of the dining locations in the Swann and Dolphin. You also have fireworks cruises available if need be.

I can answer this question at the end of next month since we are staying at both the resorts at opposite ends of our cruise. 5 nights WL woods view w/bunks, 3-night Dream cruise, then 6 nights YC CL courtyard view. Every part of this trip will be new to us. I'm psyched!
